I completley understand. Football is a horse of a different color with limited data. But that data is all we have. How else do we judge teams? We are trying to avoid the old "Eye Test".
If we say UCF is one of the best teams in the country and should have been in the playoffs with out using some sort of data to compare them to other teams then we should just go back to the coaches and AP poll deciding everything.
1) To date, no undefeated power 5 team has missed the playoffs. That means that at the beginning of the season every power 5 team has a ticket to the playoffs. The second after they lose a game they leave thier fate to a room of men and women. Until then they control their own destiny. Wisconsin wins the BIG champ game, they are in. OSU wins both games they lost, they are in. That is why you cannot (should not) complain if your team doesnt get in. They had their chance and blew it. In the NCAA Tournament 72 teams make the tournament and people still complain when thier team doesnt make it. We complain about 12 seeds not getting in!
2) This is a playoff to determine the best team in college football, NOT A CHARITY. UCF has no legitimate gripe. Yes they went undefeated. Who cares? They played the 54th ranked schedule. The lowest playoff team played the 7th ranked. Even if you expand the playoffs to 16, the next lowest SOS is Washington at 26. Play the Power 5 teams week in and week out and if you survive the meat grinder then you have earned a spot. Beating Memphis twice doesnt cut it. Yes, Alabama played Mercer, but UCF played Austin Peay. Alabama played 4 ranked teams. UCF played the same ranked team twice.
I do actually. My point is this. This thread has been talking about players who never played for Michigan many of whom were big hype guys who never did much at the school they played for.
I think about players who left us for other schools after playing for us who did make a difference. Think about what would have happened if Mallett stayed. Maybe Manningham and Arrington stay. Those two and Matthews (they might have made their decisions first, a historian could correct me).
Maybe we dont go through the horror we had for 5 years.
My comment also points to the fact that Ryan Mallett actually committed to Michigan. Its not actually a commitment if you dont sign on the dotted line.

The athlete had a great experiance with the Athletic Director. I would say that his opinion is more valid then all the non athletes. He had a direct relationship with the AD. His Michigan experiance was more directly influanced by Brandon than any non athlete.
How exactly does Brandons "branding" effect the football team? Does Dave tell Brady what plays to run? What personell to put in the game? Who to recruit?
I was a Hoke fan but lets be real. He had no track record of success. He has had his most successful season at Michigan with players that played most of their career under Rich Rod.

I used to live in Northwood (Stone Dr.) as a kid. It was really great for my family and for my dad who was going to school at the time. Quiet but kid friendly at the same time.
Downloaded the rosters and played the first year in a Offline Dynasty. Morris was my back up and Wilton was given a redshirt. Both of them transfered at the end of the season. That left Bellomy as my only QB. I didnt even recruit a QB because I had so many.
I live in Ohio. My wife went to Ohio University in Athens. I still call Ohio State "Ohio".

10 am tomorrow. Wanted it scheduled last friday but it was booked solid. If I have to get it done, and I do, then what better time? Masters would be good as well.
The man is in charge of a multi million dollar orgainizaiton. Pay him what hes worth. If he was the CEO of a steel plant he would be getting performance bonuses as well. If people he had never met did a great job that earned the company a lot of money he would get a bonus. Likewise if people who he never met did a horrible job, he would be held responsible for fixing the problem or he would be shown the door.
When I started out I only had one cell. But since the early 80's I have increased that number to over 10 trillion! Production has slowed over the last decade. Now I find myself replacing the 1 million cells I lose each day. Even with high turnover rate I still find time to read MGoBlog everyday.
Its hard to justify going to Arizona when we have such a prestigeous bowl game right in our own backyard. And what a matchup. BG/Pitt for all the Pizza! A game for the ages!

I dont think any team that plays the 56th ranked SOS should be considered as the best team in college football.
UCF getting in to the playoffs would strenghthen the case for Power 6 schools to schedule nothing but FCS teams in Non conference.
Mount Union went 15-0. Maybe they should be the best team in college football.
