- their marching band looked like a bunch of amateurs. t-shirts in the stands? really? wear the darn uniform.
- jim mcelwain (sp?) needs to a) get rid of the gum and b) get some braces. that dude looked like a complete hayseed.
|3 days 6 hours ago||nope. iowa.||
supposedly it's 4 1/2 hours to get across the state on i-80. more like 4 1/2 days.
|1 week 3 days ago||yes.||
16 hours a day.
|1 week 5 days ago||agreed.||
pick up the phone.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||yes.||
in my opinion, "not a good look" is a pretty good phrase to use here. but i say that for just about every single recruiting story, from every single school. so there's that.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||oh, i don't know...||
i'm not craig ross-level old, but i'm old, and i'm not prone to "insert current player is the greates of all time" hyperbole, but...well, the 2013 loss to a penn state team that came in 0-14 in the big ten was one of the strangest losses i can remember. we were still obviously an ncaa seed afterwards, so it didn't sting for very long (plus trey stole the ball from sparty in our next game), but it was a weird one.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||"graduated in 3.5 years"||
this is the kind of sentence that makes me very, very happy. he didn't turn out to be the football stud i hoped he would, but being an academic stud at u of m is a fantastic second alternative.
congrats to him on his michigan degree, and i wish him the best.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||oh, good heavens.||
i don't know why i'm conflating the fab five with the 1989 team. i'll see myself out.
the detail on the girl, though, that's gospel.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||i'm a little surprised...||
...that nobody has mentioned december 1989, when the nascent fab five beat duke, something like 114-105. in overtime.
i was in grad school at the time; someone at the architecture school had a crappy 12-inch b&w tv in their cubicle, and there were at least twenty of us jammed on top of one another and shouting at the tv. i fell in love with the girl who was pressed against me during overtime, and we probably woudl be parents together today if it had gone to double overtime.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||the unis can't BOTH be the worst ever, can they?||
oh, wait. of course they can. yipes.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||agreed...||
...definitely a stretch. i also failed to note that the 2014 team never got its doors blown off the way this team has done a couple of times (exceptions at iowa and at home vs wisconsin late in the year). but ya never know.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||i know this is ridiculous, but...||
...i'm going to write it anyway. after 16 games in 2014, we were 12-4. we had lost to the only two marquee opponents on the schedule (duke and arizona) but beaten two good non-conference teams (stanford and nc state, both on neutral courts). we'd won on the road at two big ten arenas - nebraska and minnesota (they were both alright that year). game 17 was a HUGE win at wisconsin.
this year, through 16 games, we'd lost to three very good non-conference teams, beaten a couple okay non-conference (texas / florida st = stanford / nc state, or thereabouts), and beaten an okay big ten team on the road (illinois). game 17 was a HUGE win at home vs maryland
i'm obviously not saying we're as good as we were in 2014, but...well, you never know.
if we're 100% healthy in march? man, i wouldn't want to see us in a bracket.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||jim harbaugh,||
...insane genius. he's completely monkeyballs, and i love him.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||i wish him the best.||
he will always be a Michigan Man, with a michigan degree. hugely impressed that he's graduating early. this ain't high school.
hope to see him do a thomas rawls.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||i wish him the best.||
he will always be a Michigan Man. with a michigan degree.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||thank you thank you thank you...||
...brady hoke, for your insane defensive line recruiting. you were fundamentally unqualified to be a head coach in ann arbor, but the defensive line? you done good.
|4 weeks 4 days ago||it was||
the double-moviest double move of all time. hargreaves will never be burned crispier than he was on that play.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||this.||
bookmarked, favorited, printed...and soon-to-be-memorized.
we are loaded, man. i'm calling it right now. 2016 big ten champs.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||it's great.||
a michigan wolverine.
i love what wormley said about florida quitting. i said the same thing - by early in the 3rd those guys just couldn't wait to get out of there. reminded me a lot of the byu game, where we just punched them in the mouth and they didn't ever punch back.
|8 weeks 2 days ago||ok||
brady hoke getting hired at east carolina has nothing to do with michigan. let it go, man.
|8 weeks 2 days ago||"disprove?"||
|8 weeks 2 days ago||all the best to spike.||
thanks for the memories.
live a long, healthy fruitful life as a true michigan man.
|8 weeks 6 days ago||hey, good idea!||
let's all gather for another round of stomping on brady hoke, shall we? haven't had nearly enough of that.
|8 weeks 6 days ago||hey...||
...welcome to mgoboard. you'll like your time here.
|8 weeks 6 days ago||yikes...||
also, i'm guessing it's applicable here - don't tweet at recruits.
|9 weeks 2 days ago||no.||
it's not "telling," and this has absolutely nothing to do with harbaugh.
|9 weeks 2 days ago||no.||
if we're talking about the same play, the defender had inside position and turned his head. no way that gets called.
|9 weeks 2 days ago||very disappointing...||
...you missed a chance to blame hackett's departure, special k's playlist, heiko's relative lateness filing punt / counterpunt, and kobe bryant's decline on d.j. durkin.
|9 weeks 3 days ago||a colossal...||
...unrepentant, sanctimonious weasel. period.
sheshevski isnt' all that great, either.
|9 weeks 4 days ago||oh, honestly.||
you say illinois minnesota purdue, i say vanderbilt kentucky. both those schools will keep mediocre-to-bad coaches around, and won't make a 'splash' hire under literally any circumstances.
let's not forget, either, that hugh freeze wasn't exactly a household name when ole miss hired him after a single year at arkansas state. they took a shot, and got lucky. ther'es absolutely zero difference between that and purdue hiring darrell hazell after two good years as head coach of a historically lousy kent state program.
there's also no difference between illinois keeping tim beckman around and kentucky keeping mark stoops around.
if you go into a discussion of coaching assuming that the SEC hires better than the big ten every time, that's what you'll see...and every hire (even at a school that couldn't be more disconnected from the SEC / big ten discussion than central freaking florida, for heaven's sake) is just further proof of your assumption.

...is exactly, and i mean EXACTLY what miami wants - good person, runs a clean program, wins.
the administration would be absolutely ecstatic with georgia-level results.
