I watched OU's mac tournament games and I'd have to say that I disagree with Ace in the notion that it would be a good idea to let 'Coop' Cooper bomb away. The main reason Cooper's shooting numbers are lacking is because he has shot the ball almost 130 times more than anyone else on the team this season--a product of Cooper being the team's leader and go to scoring threat.
His plan all along was to test Denard's ability to hit timing routes, check to multiple recievers on any given pass play, and improvise when appropriate while working within the transitional offense. Outside of the ND game, Borges hasn't really been forced to throw the ball since you know who is jogging for 200. I think the more familiar passing routes will become a much more frequent aspect to the offense once we get later in the season and defenses are aggressively playing our run game.
Wile has kicked off 23 times this season, averages 63 yards per kick, and has had one touchback. So slightly better than Hagerup last year with roughly the same sample size.
Yes, in 2010 he kicked off a total of 19 times. ~5% were touchbacks and one went out of bounds for an illegal procedure. He averaged just over 61 yards per kick.
I'd say Hopkins best chance for redemption is against Minnesota if we build a comfortable lead early. You have to wonder if the coaching staff will risk the fumble against tougher Big Ten opponents.
