It's a great read,…

It's a great read, especially for me who's lost interest in bball and is just kinda aware of the downward spiral, with none of the details. Against all odds I'm expecting one more year because of Fab Five sakes and a decent recruiting class.

We're Mr Brightside. Consecutive rock bottoms will reset expectations and the next coach won't have Beilein to live up to, making it easy for us to hire someone great.

Thanks again Alex.

Still can't believe we won a…

Still can't believe we won a football national championship.

Was at the point where I fervently wished we won a natty in hockey or basketball even though I don't really care about either sport because I thought a football natty was impossible.

Already one through and…

Already one through and through in my book.

Nah there were other players…

Nah there were other players including olinemen who were publicly saying they were tired of Jims shit.

Something tells me there's a…

Something tells me there's a chance Harbaugh will be back in the future.

He'll def have success with the Chargers, but the players stopped responding to him in SF, and may very happen again. By that time the bullshit NCAA penalties should be over.

FFS Santa has been part of…

FFS Santa has been part of the negotiation for months. They could launch Warde to Mars and that wouldn't mean Harbaugh is any closer to signing.

For anything he may have…

For anything he may have done??

Listen we all know there is likely zero JH did bad in 2023, but no way any lawyers sign off on that.

Honestly, Mike getting…

Honestly, Mike getting experience as an OC at another program would be great, LONG TERM, for Michigan. Especially as we bask in the National Championship glory.

Get some great experience, work out the kinks, and years later you can come back to Michigan as an even better coach.

While this sounds…

While this sounds interesting, they're still rumors and rumors can very well be just crazy. Not sure what to think.

Yeah man, wife and family…

Yeah man, wife and family comes way before football.

I had to step away from Michigan football at times when it was affecting my attitude with my family.

Actual vid shows it was…

Actual vid shows it was pretty cool and cordial enough, including Harbaugh shaking hands with Pettiti.

That picture is kind of misrepresenting what actually happened.

This isn't court where you…

This isn't court where you have to prove everything.

Just having film of a guy in Stalions seat videotaping the sideline for the entire game is likely evidence enough to come down hard.

This isn't a court case…

This isn't a court case where everything has to be proved beyond doubt.

If a person in Salions seat was pointing his phone at generally the sideline for the entire game, yes most people would agree he was videotaping signals.

Thats enough for them to come down hard on us.

I can't respect him enough…

I can't respect him enough not only for how amazing he was as a player, but also how he bounced back from a severe injury that likely cost him 9 figures in NFL earnings.

Wishing all the best for him

I still can't believe people…

I still can't believe people believe this anti vaccine hysteria. But then again horse paste snorting people will do what they do

Texags, Texas A&M's main…

Texags, Texas A&M's main fansite has been doing it for a couple of years now.

I hate to say it, but this is a win win for everyone

  • Players get NIL
  • That school down south gets a bit more competitive in recruiting
  • 11W makes extra money
  • Fans get extra content, which I guess is questionable.
  • Doners also get some kinda icon/widget on their posts, which is nice if you're into that kinda stuff I guess

If Brian set one up here I'd happily donate, wouldn't mind some of that going to him and the staff

(No subject)

Looks like they have strict copyright rules, so no Block M or Buckeyes

I mean we should applaud…

I mean we should applaud them for trying hard, since we love to clown them for being horrible on the field.

Been said a ton of times…

Been said a ton of times already, but CFB is basically the English Premier League except salaries are paid by fans.

So if our fanbase and donners aren't willing to pay these salaries despite having money, we have no one else to blame than us, and lowering expectations is in order.

You simply don't expect Aston Villa to compete with Manchester United year in year.

No court in the land will…

No court in the land will support banning a freshman from earning money via his likeness or donations, and rightfully so.

Every contract is a risk, nobody knows how they will perform.

None of this NIL money is…

None of this NIL money is coming from the school.

It's coming from businesses advertising and donations.

There isn't and shouldn't be a cap on what people will donate to you, or pay you to advertise.

Athletes consider markets…

Athletes consider markets size and advertising opportunities all the time before signing a contract.

This is no different for college athletes.

Ours seem to be the perfect…

Ours seem to be the perfect blend of team goals, and individual accomplishments.

Pretty much nothing more…

Pretty much nothing more important than your health, including taking care of yourself when you're young.

Best wishes to Erick, hope he physically recovers 100% soon

Whether or not 2% of college…

Whether or not 2% of college football players go to play in the NFL is irrelevant.

That's like saying only 2% of NFL players make the Hall of Fame.

In fact, that 98% won't make money going pro on reinforces the belief they should get paid when they can.

Kirby Smart just negotiated…

Kirby Smart just negotiated a 10 year, $112 million deal. And every major sport has a players union.

I see nothing wrong with this, it's just the process of capitalism.

Hey Brian, I'm just super…

Hey Brian, I'm just super glad to hear from you! Hope things are going well!

Wife: "We own you"

Daughter…

Wife: "We own you kid"

Daughter: "Not anymore"

You: "We're back-"

Wife & Daughter: "Who are you again?"

With his height, and if he…

With his height, and if he improves his shooting and defense a bit, can see him being a solid starter.

Speaking of reliable,…

Speaking of reliable, Stanford does NOT bring in the Bay Area. They can't even bring in Palo Alto

We need to keep adding great…

We need to keep adding great recruiting grounds and more $$$$$.

Usually that has been North Carolina and Virginia. But with the NIL, I don't know how much of that matters anymore.

You cannot forget everyone…

You cannot forget everyone else. That's what the B12 and Pac12 desperately was hoping to do.

Two 20+ team league is absolutely where we're going.

And if we're not competitive with the SEC, THEY will eventually start raking in way more superior TV money, and starting picking off the B1G.

The only thing that matters…

The only thing that matters is being competitive with the SEC.

If this brings 5 stars and TV dollars to the B1G, IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH TEAM is winning, including our enemies. Because it guarantees our coffers are full.

Well someone has a bit of a…

Well someone has a bit of a short fuse. Def snippy management material.

After winning the…

After winning the championship, Poole and Draymond were good ol fashioned ribbing each other in the interviews!

Poole: "I don't even rock with Spartans...!"

Dray: "This guy just happen to be sitting between two of us!"

To put into comparison, Ryan…

To put into comparison, Ryan Days salary next year is 9.5 million dollars.

He's saying 13 mil will keep the roster together.

I hate to say this, but…

Pretty obvious and I hate to say this, but unless we get our NIL shit in order, it'll get even harder and harder to beat them, or any one of the high powered NIL teams.

You're basically competing against a much higher payroll. And can you blame the players? Ryan Day says the going rate is 2mil for a top QB, 1 mil for top DE's and tackles. That's life changing money for many, especially at age 18.

I'm still happy the money is finally flowing to the actual players on the field, but this is plain capitalism. Either get with it, or you're going to be left behind, fast.

Gene editing has advanced to…

Gene editing has advanced to the point where non-human organ transplants are also close to starting larger scale human trials.

Bless all these researchers and medical personnel.

Other countries are even way…

Other countries are even way more poor and messed up than hours but then don't have anywhere near the mass shootings per capita.

Turns out if you can't get a glock or ar 15, you can't do nothing 99% of the time.

And this is coming from a guy who loves his glocks

His family must be in utter…

His family must be in utter shock. Condolences and prayers to coach and his family.

What Jimbo says maybe true,…

What Jimbo says maybe true, but it's also true Texas A&M is de-facto buying players, like everyone is doing or starting to do.

Played basically my entire…

Played basically my entire life until college.

Pray point me to any team that was ripped apart by jealousy

We're losing because we're…

We're losing because we're not even trying. We have only ourselves to blame.

Plenty, and I mean plenty of…

Plenty, and I mean plenty of 18-22 males playing lucrative team sports like baseball and basketball, and I've never heard of jealousy impacting a team.

His rise has been…

His rise has been mesmerizing but also methodical. Among the worst players in the NBA in some metrics his rookie year, his progression from decent G-league player to dominating, then being a decent bench player to starter level and finally dominating in the playoffs.... is almost unthinkable.

For example, earlier this year he was playing decent, but a veteran teammate said the next step in his game was to get to the free throw line.

Literally the next game Poole started getting a ton more foul shots.

This is true, current hair…

This is true, current hair is also more aerodynamic. #science!

What the hell are you…

What the hell are you talking about?

Zavier Simpson, Eli Brooks all significantly improved their games after Eisley arrived. Not to mention Mike Smith was an amazing contributor, and Devante eventually ended being pretty good.

1.       It turns children…

1.       It turns children into businessmen.

I started working at 16 and got paid. Your argument makes absolutely no sense at all.

2.       Because selling shit—or having students sell shit—shouldn’t be the business of universities.

And he's being paid to advertise for a company, so again this makes zero sense.

3.       Because any pretense of a game being a meeting of equals is blown all to hell.

That pretense went out the window half a century ago, or do you think Western Michigan and Michigan has ever been a meeting of equals?

4.       Because kids should be able to concentrate on school and sports while they are in school, not making up fake charities or selling t-shirts and trinkets or used cars.

You see buddy, I also worked through college, some of it selling shit as well. Maybe you shouldn't get so jealous others have more marketable skills.

5.       Because the number of kids coming to the good schools to go to good schools is going to decrease, whether the odd Michigan does a little better or a little worse.

Maybe you should write this again after thinking it over.

6.       Because the games are already over-commercialized.

Yeah the conferences are reaping billions, for decades, and another Johnny football making money advertising isn't going to change anything.

7.       Because the idea that the students are the equals of their fellow students is bastardized by these developments.

Oh wow, the person providing better value is getting paid more! That's how capitalism works buddy.

8.       Because it will arouse jealousy among fellow players, and erode loyalty—to the game, to the team, to the school in questions.

Seems like you're the one drowning in jealousy. 19 year olds are in the NBA or MLB, they're dealing with jealousy just fine.

9.       Because what is already a caste system is on its way to being still more so.

I don't think you know what a caste system is, and how ironic you're promoting a slave system.

10.   Because—obviously—the potential for corruption grows and the kids will be dealing with smarmy care salesmen and t-shirt hawkers rather than having a college life.

Yeah, dealing with that is part of their job, which is why they have advisors and lawyers.

I have no idea why you're so dead set against people earning fair market value for their skills. This isn't a communist country.

It's all about money, money,…

It's all about money, money, and more money.

Take out Clemson, Stanford, FSU and Michigan State. None are long term money makers.

Add North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Texas A&M. At least they bring their own states. Or in the case of tamu, are in a state big enough for 2 teams.

I mean, his first year in…

I mean, his first year in the NBA, Poole was close to being the worst NBA player by some metrics. Even Golden State fans will tell you he was really bad and it was a very poor pick.

You could still legit argue he wasn't ready for the NBA and the numbers would back you up.

That being said, his improvement the past 1.5 seasons has been nothing short of miraculous.
