Good to hear he's doing well across the pond

But an update on a Michigan alum is definitely not OT!

too bad

Macho man could not have been inducted into the Hall of Fame while he was still with us.

I lost

part of my Mgoblog triforce today.  Oh the humanity

I completely agree

with what you are saying about Detroit and Ford Field.  The Super Bowl there seemed like it was a pretty big success, so it seems a Conference Title game could be played there with no problem filling seats, getting hotels, etc.  While I think Indiapolis is a great city for both the football and basketball tournaments, I don't see why Detroit and other cities should not have a chance.

Which is why I think a rotation between Indy, Detroit, Chicago, Green Bay, Cleveland, Pittsburgh would be ideal.  The Tournament would be spread throughout the Big 10 footprint, and there would be a mix of indoor and outdoor games.

The Big 12 has rotated between Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, and San Antonio the past 10 years.

Apparently

you have not been to Indy in awhile.  The RCA dome has been domilished and Lucas Oil Stadium fits 63,000 and can be expanded to fit 70,000.  It's even big enough to hold a Super Bowl (this year if there is a season!).

Go Blue

I know

I saw the same thing and thought Lunardi had us in as a 8/9 seed.

Then I realized what I was looking at.  Then I thought, "There is a WBB Bracketology?!?"

Its gonna be

A tough loss to swallow

Where

do I start??

/most confusing chart ever

Punch you in the face

Could be true

But no matter what happens this Saturday, if both lose before the BTT Semis, they will be lucky just to be playing in Dayton.

189

189.  GO BLUE

Scenarios

Let's say we beat Wisconsin:

Lose to Minn and MSU -- need to win Big Ten Tourney

Beat Minn and lose to MSU -- need to advance to Big Ten Semis

Lose to Minn and beat MSU - need to advance to Big Ten Semis

Beat Minn and MSU -- In NCAA Tournament, playing for seed in Indianapolis

Change

I will root for Coach to succeed no matter where he goes.

Except if he ever plays M, of course.

Women's game

Another upside to going to a women's hoops game with your girls:  Better chance to get that free pizza.

Downside:  Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Pizzzzzzaaaaaaaaaa

Same here

Not worried because I wrote down confirmation number, but would still like to get that email.

Really goods seats available at 830 this morning, Row 40 section 24.

As the posts above discuss, I prefer to be in Rows 30-50 than in the first 10 rows.

dang

you guys beat me to it...proving how slow a typer I am.

Maybe

you are just proving how little you are a fan of basketball, but McGrady was traded to the Knicks in February...and yes, he is not the player he once was, and still has never played on a team to make it out of the first round of the playoffs.

Meanwhile, I would love to see the Pistons shake things up by trading Rip and/or Tay, but I don't see them making a move tonight.  Probably end up with Udoh or Monroe.

Attendance

Based on that video, it looks like there were only a few hundred fans at the game.  That is too bad, but it is extremely difficult to get a crowd at a exhibition/charity basketball at any time of the year, let alone in mid-June.  Would be impossible to get football/basketball players any other time of the year I guess though.

Penalty kicks?

Something has to be better than drawing straws (lots).

one minor difference

Algeria has played 2 games with 0 goals, while Spain has only played one.  Better comparison would be France who is 0-1-1 with 0 goals scored.

Schedule

Also, good to see they are picking up wins now, as the schedule turns after this weekend's series vs. the Diamondbacks -- 9 game road trip @ NY Mets, Atlanta, Minnesota.

true

but I would have thought it to be the other way around -- someone killed for wanting to turn off a World Cup game

i don't get it

people say that a 1-0 pitcher's duel or 0-0 hockey game is exciting but fail to see how a similar soccer score can be just as exciting and majestic

Nebraska hoops

DId not realize Nebraska is one of only 3 BCS-Conference programs to never have won an NCAA Basketball Tourney game (Northwestern, South Florida)

well

to be fair, the BCS Championship was not two 2-loss teams, as OSU only had one loss going in, and that was, of course, to Illinois (in Columbus).

exactly right

The only team that should have gotten in to a BCS game that year but did not was Missouri (who only had 2 losses and was ranked #1 going into the Big 12 title game), but they could not because Oklahoma and Kansas were also in BCS games.  To be fair to Illinois and the Rose Bowl, remember, this is also the year that Hawaii made it to the Sugar Bowl and got destroyed by Georgia.

Away games

Does Mgoblue sell tickets for away games, or is it best to just go through the home team's site?  Indiana and Purdue tickets should be fairly easy to pick up (and short drives from Michigan/Chicago).

Not particulary fond of either team

being a Red Wings fan and disliking Chicago pro teams in general and Pronger for the Flyers in particular, but I think this has the making of a short 4 or 5 game Blackhawk win.

yeah

it seems this game is rarely brought up as a "regret leaving early" example (usually '04 MSU or '05 PSU) but I remember quite a large chunk of the section I was in heading home after booing the team into the locker room.

Back at the Joe

I always thought the Wings would return to the Joe.  I never thought Illitch would take them out of downtown, even if for a season or two.  I can't even think of any precedent for this, i.e. a major pro team moving to a non-brand new arena.

exciting news

I am looking forward to the day when commentators can no longer rank Michigan basketball's "facilities" near the worst in the Big 10 (and the country).

View

Yeah I have tickets in row 50 and I don't expect to be able to see much.  Anytime hockey or basketball is played in a football stadium you are going more for the atmosphere/history being made than to actually see the game.

Deserted student section

I wonder how many students that bought football tickets were never planning on coming to The Big Chill anyway.  If the weather is cold, I could see many staying home.

Rediculous

If you are going to join the games in progress, why not start the game at 8:00 or 8:30 so we can see at least half of the games??

Also, agree completely with the NHL Network comment above.  NBA does it with NBA TV for first round games.  NHL is the only major league to not have every playoff game on national television (including college football and now college hoops).  Rediculous that Round 2 games are not available everywhere.

Yeah

I don't think it is that crazy of a prediction (even if it does look weird seeing UConn in a projected BCS Bowl game).  Who are the other favorites in the Big East?  Cincy?  Pitt?

It's going to be a great opener at the Big House.

Lesser of two evils

Completely agree on Versus coverage, but for those of us outside of Michigan, watching on Versus is better than trying to find a stream online.

In related news

Terry Foster is reporting that DeShawn Sims will probably enter the NBA Draft and not return to Michigan next season.

Was this

before or after he was at the Phillies game yesterday?

I am disappointed

that I cannot travel back in time to NOT be disappointed.

I see

I should have done this first, but I went back to see what the_big_house's posts were like to see what I was being compared to.  I didn't realize it was wrong to upvote your own posts, won't make that mistake again.

Thanks

I appreciate the feedback.  Not sure how the OP was incoherent, but I do appreciate the tips from a veteran poster.

Very unpredictable game

And for baseball being such a numbers and stats focused game, stats can be flawed as well.  Of course we cannot expect Jackson to maintain a .367 pace or probable even a +.300 pace.  Nor can we expect the pen to all keep ERA's under 3.00.

However, what if Jackson bats .250 but those hits come in clutch situations with runners on or to start a rally?  Same thing goes for RBI and HR numbers.  A clutch RBI or HR is much more important but doesn't show up in the stats as one where the game is 10-0.  What if Valverde gives up 2 runs in three straight save situations (ERA 18.00 in 3 straight games) but gets the save each time because the Tigers were up by three?  Again stats can be misleading.

So far the Tigers have had some great comebacks thanks to a stellar pen and lately the starting pitching seems to be heating up.  Would love to see Scherzer keep up this string of solid Tiger starts tonight.

Ok

As you can see I am new here, and I am not sure what that means.

Exactly

I was thinking the same thing.

Tragic story from ACC school + lacrosse team members = Let's bring up the Duke scandal.

plus USC and Michigan.
