|9 hours 30 min ago||Yeah, the NFL big brother police||
forced him to say that ...
|9 hours 31 min ago||I need to turn off the WD twitter notification plan||
And stop checking mgoblog and worry about this after Christmas.
|1 day 6 hours ago||Sure||
I'll bet there'll be a lot of "how are you today coach", I am doing great and you, coach" water cooler discussions.
|3 days 15 hours ago||So Harbaugh is going||
to interview the existing staff for positions via video conferencing - interesting ...
or is he addressing the team?
[I just totally made that up FWIW.]
|3 days 16 hours ago||Hmm - this opinion piece||
seems to be written rationally. I hadn't considered this may be his last chance / he doesn't want to be like Les Miles...
|3 days 16 hours ago||Maybe it is a false impression||
But don't most of Saban's oversigning cuts get a continued scholarship of some type (unless it is a greyshirt offer)?
To me, if a guy hasn't worked out to where he's competitive, that is a fair deal.
|3 days 16 hours ago||I think Michigan doesn't||
take Jucos but once in a blue moon because of transfer credit issues.
That said Jucos are a an important part of the educational infrastructure for a number of reasons and someone transferring in should be respected.
Interestingly, with all the state budget cuts for education down here, NC State sent a letter to alums with college bound seniors saying they were going to start being more selective for incoming freshman classes, and accept more transfers from 2+2 programs at UNC Wilmington or Wake Tech CC, etc.
I don't see many comments disparaging that route. Most complaints I've seen in the past were about Michigan admissions making this almost impossible for football player transfers thus making our playing field tilt a little against us.
|4 days 16 hours ago||Yep - the OSU fans||
I know are the same way - want it to be a competitive rivalry. They are all alums though - maybe a difference there.
|4 days 17 hours ago||My neighbors who are||
B1G grads from various schools all at least are happy to see we are going after him the way we should THIS TIME ...
The last two processes were such an embarrassment - even when the first one landed a hot name coach.
|4 days 17 hours ago||Now see, if I was an egomaniac||
I could work for egomaniacs. This is why Jimmy should come home.
|5 days 4 hours ago||It's alright dad||
You did it! You have successfully launched your kid into the world and it is an awesome feeling.
|5 days 6 hours ago||It's been a while since I switched companies||
But last time I did you could sign in a way that allowed for two weeks notice on one side, and a declared 1st day of work in the future on the other.
It is true that he cannot do that with an NFL team unless released from his contract by San Fran or San Fran is compensated for the remaining contract. But my understanding is an NFL contact number of years is a commitment at the NFL level. A college contract is a separate thing (a college does not have to pay the buyout for Jims final year for example).
So we'll see I guess. Our best two guts (Sam's and Brian's) are still queasy but hopeful, so that's where mine remains.
|6 days 8 hours ago||I don't think he's saying "shit"||
in that picture - that is definitely a "fu" mouth formation
|6 days 19 hours ago||No buyout if he signs w Michigan||
So now that the papers have been alledgedly delivered for his review, he can sign at anytime. They can even structure it so he can sign starting Jan 1st unless the Nines fire him earlier, etc.
And if he signs the can(attempt to) delay the official announcement until the 29th.
|1 week 2 hours ago||Nice job||
couldn't have said it better.
These kids have four years to state their case for the NFL. Going into an unknown is a huge risk. Rather than telling them to fuck off, perhaps asking them to reconsider is the wiser, more understanding course.
|1 week 4 hours ago||Eh - I think you're overblowing||
if true, we offered Harbaugh for realz top dollars for NFL and College coaches. If he turns down the offer, the entire fan base can comfortably be done with him, and A list coaches thinking about being plan B know we ain't kidding this time.
This is a brash, no fucking around, move. And now that it is out there, Harbaugh has to publicly declare sooner or later. The leak may have been intentional to force some hands to be shown.
I like Hacket's game.
|1 week 11 hours ago||Was wondering how NFL contracts affect this||
From what I have read on the 29th there are several scenarios:
1) JH quits (and owes the Niners buy out money?)
2) Another NFL team offers JH, JH accepts, and they compensate the Niners with buy out money, and a trade (Jon Gruden precedent).
3) Another NFL team(s) offer JH and he declines, in which case:
a) the Niners retain him as head coach for his final contract year - or -
b) they fire him and owe him the final year of his contract
4) JH takes the Michigan job (for which he does not owe a buy out?)
Do I have these right???
You're Jim Harbaugh - what do you do? You wait, check the NFL options, and either do 2 or 3 a or b + 4 having leveraged 2 to get the most out of Michigan. (Who in their right mind would want to coach the Jets, Browns, Phins or Raiders? Chicago I can see.)
At some point on the 29th Harbaugh and the Niner's owners will be playing high stakes poker and bluffs will be called.
|1 week 15 hours ago||Why would the marketing guy||
be in the inner circle of a confidential coaching hire, and have that information to leak?
The only reason to loop him in, is if you have a signed deal and he needs to spin the announcement .... IT'S HAPPENING!!!!
|1 week 15 hours ago||No, no, no||
His office is where the golden toilet will go.
|1 week 15 hours ago||I don't||
what a stupid time to stick your head up out of the foxhole and say something as callous as he did. It's like he was asking for a package. (Which maybe he was.)
|1 week 18 hours ago||Total control in the NFL||
Ah ha ha ha ...
|1 week 18 hours ago||We spent every year||
But the "growing years" hoping we'd get past ND with a win. The ND game determined if we were on track for a run at the National Championship because pre-BCS you had to go undefeated.
If we made it into the conference season undefeated then there was upstart Big Ten team that year leading to The Game, which was the ticket to the Rose Bowl.
The tension was don't lose a game, and after that get to the Rose Bowl. It was still a tragic tension but the first loss took you out of an NC run - it didn't lead you to assume a disaster of season was about to unfold. (Even when Jimmy broke his arm.)
And so, we were bummed if we lost early or to the upstart team, but had or steam back for OSU. S party was a side show.
That was '83 - '87.
|1 week 1 day ago||Yeah - a little sharpie action||
and he is good to go!
|1 week 1 day ago||I agree with you||
And I think it's been Harbaugh for quite a while - maybe even before Brandon exited, at least as far back as Sam's initial Wheatley slip and everyone including Lloyd Carr saying they think Harbaugh is the guy.
Everyone is acting weird with slips around the edges because the inner circle thinks it's right that Harbaugh finish his season first and at the same time are greasing the skids for a smoother start.
Something happened in SFO before the Seattle game in SFO to cause the players to half ass it in the game and all the dysfunction to spill out onto twitter afterwards, and then it went silent and amiable again yesterday. I think the deal was penned in Seattle. (Any Kalitta charters coming back from Seattle? Even connecting somewhere else?)
All of this is e-pionion sure, but we outer circle have to let the chess match play out here.
|1 week 1 day ago||Not to mention||
a relative dysfunction-less 49ers set of statements. It is like a decision has been reached, so everyone can settle down.
|1 week 1 day ago||Will you please||
We're dying ovah heah ...
|1 week 2 days ago||The don't have gold toilets at the HoJo||
nor on the Gulfstream (too heavy)
Yeah - Harbaugh is a control guy - and the good NFL teams that offer up control are few and far between. I think there is a lot of NFL wonk BS out there.
It comes down to the lure of a CoFoPo championship vs a Superbowl championship.
|1 week 2 days ago||I think Harbaugh just found out the hard way||
that an NFL coach is just some rich guy's toy. At the end of the day, the players get paid by said rich guy, so they effectively report to the rich guy, so does the GM, which means the coach has very little leverage.
A lot of dysfunction in the NFL comes from this, SF, Dallas, Washington, Miami, ... all great examples of coach wanna be rich guys meddling too much with the team and running coaches through revolving doors.
Do we really think a Saban or a Meyer would want to subject themselves to that? I am hoping Jim Harbaugh has decided he's done with it too.
