Yeah, this is just one person speaking, but I found the SAT yawningly easy compared to the ACT, mainly because of the time limits. The ACT's was way less forgiving and I found myself going "what??" when the proctor said pencils down.

Hm. Either Atwater is converting old churches into brewpubs at a breakneck pace, or you live awfully damn close to me. And I do love me some Dirty Blonde.

Well, that's pretty much entirely the point of the sponsorship.
|4 days 28 min ago||I disagree for the simple||
I disagree for the simple reason that the sheer volume of one-offs, "alternates", and inky-dinky little tweaks is overwhelming. Things like a solid gray uniform at Kentucky for no other reason than it's trendy are proof positive that Nike's designers have too much time on their hands.
I miss when you could turn on the TV and immediately know who's playing without having to figure out whether it's BlakkOutzz Nyte at Rutgers, Texas Tech throwbacks, or Oregon trying to pretend they're the Raiders again.

Guessing it's because of holier-than-thou people who take it upon themselves to determine whether or not someone else is allowed to call themselves a fan.

Starting to get the notion that much of these changes are due to Nike and adidas employing a lot of people and needing some way to keep them busy.
Nike's "every number font must be different and every uniform must tell a story" thing is awful. The fastest way to make a uniform ugly is to have ugly numbers. The example they gave is Syracuse - the slopey lines in the numbers are at 44 degrees to honor the number 44. But you would never know that unless someone told you, which is to say that Nike is a miserable failure at having the uniform tell the story.

Not gonna pile on the OP here. We all have our breaking points, even if some come sooner than others. Anyone who says they'll watch any game all the time no matter what is lying - period. If ticket prices get too expensive you'll stop going. If the admin pisses you off enough you'll stop supporting them. That's literally everyone here. I bet I could even find a breaking point on Devotee if I thought about it long enough. Totally, completely sympathize if the argument is "this shouldn't be enough to turn you off" but not if speaking in absolutes. Because what right has anyone to complain about anything, if literally nothing pisses you off enough to change your behavior?

I'm going to miss the game because I'm doing other stuff on Saturday. Where do I apply to get my fan card back? Do you want my application in person or is it fine by mail?
|6 days 10 hours ago||Let me go ahead and pile on||
Let me go ahead and pile on the Citrus Bowl, because that was gonna be my entry too. It's a monstrosity of concrete surrounded by a chain link fence. What bathrooms there are, are just concrete-block shacks. The concourse isn't really a concourse, it's just the empty space between the bleachers and the chain link fence, and the upper deck isn't even attached to the lowers, it's just a separate structure looming over top. And the seats pissed me off; they bolted seat bottoms to the bleachers so you couldn't slide half a seat over to get a better view around someone in front of you. (This was at a not-sold-out game.) No seat backs, just uncomfortable seat bottoms. Stupid.
I understand the place is going through a "renovation," which basically involves tearing down the old stadium and building a new one. None too soon.

There's nothing wrong with the stadium. It's the location the Braves don't like. There's some map they produced that says all their paying fans live to the north of the city. It's actually quite a nice venue IME.

I can see where Magnus can rub people the wrong way, but I have no choice but to respect his attitude of: this is my opinion on things and if you don't like it I don't really care.

I miss I Only Post GIFs. Or whatever that was. For two weeks that was hilarious.

Please tell me you're thinking of nebulous things like social costs and you don't mean that a former CEO has no concept of the idea of costs and contribution margins and such, and thinks that the beer magically appears in the tap. That's the only way that that wouldn't be a really, really dumb comment.

Not selling beer inside is not what makes the Big House sacred.
|1 week 17 hours ago||Just because they would make||
Just because they would make money off of it doesn't make it a "revenue grab." Nothing wrong with making money off of beer sales. People who don't want to pay the expensive prices won't do it. I'd be all in favor.

I have a Galaxy S4. I still have no idea what the shit is going on here, much like, I suspect, the vast majority of Android users.

Seriously, man. Do I think very highly of Dave Brandon overall? Nope. Do I think he's doing it up right here? Hell yes. I don't care for neutral site games but there are lots of juicy looking home-and-homes coming up.

Pretty much exactly the kind of game we should be scheduling.
|1 week 2 days ago||Thanks. It is, really. It||
Thanks. It is, really. It gets crazy.... in the nine day stretch ending today, I'll have been sailing for seven of them, on three different boats. But weekends like this past one, where it's hard work sometimes but the weather is perfect, are totally why I do it. Once September rolls around, I'm a bit bummed on missing out on games and we sometimes listen to the radio on the boat. But I'd rather be squeezing in the last few races of the year while I still can - there's lots of time for football later. No doubt that does all depend on where you are.... I'm sure the season never really ends in Florida.
|1 week 2 days ago||I'm regular or semi-regular||
I'm regular or semi-regular crew on like four different sailboats, one of which is the one in Connecticut. Sailing season overlaps football season by three or four weeks generally. We're still racing in September, stretching into early October (but by then, they're not on Saturdays any more.) It's plenty warm in September still.
|1 week 2 days ago||I've missed quite a few games||
I've missed quite a few games lately because sometimes I do stuff like race sailboats or be out on deployment (I was somewhere between Guam and Hawaii for The Horror, which took place around 2 AM, so, yup, missed that one) or generally just go do fun stuff and live life without having a coronary over missing a football game. Haven't seen an opening-weekend game in years because I keep flying out to Connecticut for a distance race.
Though, during college days at UVA, I only ever missed going to one home football game that I was in town for, and that was because the Ohio game was on at the same time. Good thing too because that was 2003 and things dried up quick after that.

In my lifetime there will be a 51st state. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if there were a 52nd at the same time due to some kind of Missouri Compromise kind of deal. Either Puerto Rico, Washington DC, or the splitting up of a state like California, Maryland, or New York. Another slim possibility: the combination of Guam with the CNMI and maybe Samoa into a Pacific state. Although in the case of DC, the ideal solution would for Maryland to reclaim most of the district, and carve out a smaller District of Columbia with zero population.

I miss SixZero's user profiles. I realize that was more of an offseason diversion than a football thing and that makes my timing in asking literally about as bad as it could be, but those were fun to read. It doesn't have to be SixZero doing it. It seems like something that's right up Seth's alley.

Speaking as a far-right member of the Get Off My Lawn Party, whose platform includes electroshock therapy for anyone who favors or tolerates any deviation from the traditional uniforms, and is committed to finding the warehouse where the blue pants are stored and burning it to the ground and salting the earth beneath it..... I don't care either about the footwear.
I might crack a joke about how they look like they're stepping on canaries, but cleatz don't bother me enough to put up any fuss.

Also shot down: The idea that DB had no control over the schedule change. He had input to what the scheduling inputs were before they got plugged into the computer that spit them out, and he failed to include rudimentary things like "don't make us play anyone on the road two years in a row, and if we absolutely have to, don't make it one of our big rivals." DB put in a token complaint after the fact, and uses that as his crutch to say, see, look, I tried but I couldn't do anything.
Does anyone honestly expect people to believe that the conference forced a schedule on the schools without any input from the ADs? DB had his chance and blew it.
