Good to see them recruiting…

Good to see them recruiting the mighty Hockomock League.

A flag fell out of the…

A flag fell out of the official's pocket on Bell's big play.  While the refs were discussing the flag and determining that it was accidental the play clock was running.  Harbaugh had to call a time out.  Very frustrating but not what ultimately lost the game.

Looks like he waited for the…

Looks like he waited for the Cooley news to break before he made his decision.  Good luck to him.

This is the million dollar…

This is the million dollar question.  He also fired Cooley's mentor Al Skinner and was the catalyst for the wave of conference realignment.  He destroys everything he touches.

How many times are you gonna…

How many times are you gonna post about your minority conspiracy?  Guess what, Donovan and Stevens were on the list but they said no!

Yup, that's why I wrote …

Yup, that's why I wrote "FWIW".

I guess they were supposed…

I guess they were supposed to beat North Carolina (runners up that year) in Raleigh to impress you.

Also, FWIW, Kevin McNamara of the Providence Journal tweeted that Cooley was in Florida today for the Big East meetings.

Did you work for a search…

Did you work for a search firm or for the UConn athletic department or both?  I'm getting confused despite you mentioning your work experience in every thread.

As a Providence fan I'm…

As a Providence fan I'm astounded by the lack of respect that you all have for Cooley.

My God you may be on to…

My God you may be on to something.  There's not a white guy anywhere on that list!

PC is so involved in your…

PC is so involved in your coaching search because it's a tremendous program that has punched way above its weight for 60 years.  You'd be extremely lucky to land Cooley and none of you seem to realize that.

Altman recruited players who…

Altman recruited players who had been suspended for sexual assault allegations, lied about knowing that, and then settled out of court when his players gang raped an Oregon student.

This bothered me…

This bothered me tremendously last year.  It should be Mick-Key-En.  I could accept Mick-Keen.  Mick-Que-En is wrong even if that's how Sean pronounces it.

Give me Uruguay with the 8th…

Give me Uruguay with the 8th best odds at 25-1.

As a Providence fan I'm happy

As a Providence fan I'm happy to see a good recruit heading to the Big East but DePaul has a long way to go before they can be competitive.  Georgetown and St. Johns have been really down recently and DePaul couldn't even gain on them.  When they joined the conference in 2005 I thought it was great to have Chicago represented but they have been completely awful.

Good luck.

Good luck.

By the time Villanova shot

By the time Villanova shot their first free throw they had a 20 point lead.

What's up??  Hold that L.

What's up??  Hold that L.

I see you're back this week

I see you're back this week with an even longer explanation about why Brunson and Villanova aren't really that good.  Your analsis is definitely long but it's complete nonsense.  Brunson swept the national player of the year awards and that's not because he pushes off with his arm or gets lucky foul calls.  Let the game play out tonight and be happy if Michigan wins but it doesn't mean you know a single thing about basketball.

Sorry for just picking your

Sorry for just picking your comment to reply to.  There's plenty of other people dismissing the Big East here but yours stuck out to me for "not our daddy's Big East".  That's a load of crap.  60% of the conference made the tournament after 70% made it last year.  They had two #1 seeds this year.  Nova won a title 2 years ago in "not our daddy's Big East".  On the other hand the Big Ten was significantly down this year.  They had 28% make the tournament and they haven't won a title since 2000.  I would say they are "not my daddy's Big Ten".

They are in position to win 2

They are in position to win 2 titles in 3 years.  That can't be all about referees and intimidating competition with their name recognition.  They're properly rated in my opinion.

I know Georgetown has been

I know Georgetown has been down recently but Nova/G'Town is a premeir rivalry in the sport.  I really couldn't disagree with you more about the current state of the Big East either.  I don't know how you could watch "Requiem for the Big East" and not understand that what made the conference great to begin with is what will sustain it in the future.  Small, like-minded basketball schools from major metropolitan areas.

The Meadowlands are a

The Meadowlands are a protected area of wetlands in North Jersey.  The Meadowlands Sports Complex features the arena where the Nets used to play as well as MetLife Stadium and a racetrack.  Seton Hall plays at the Prudential Center in Newark.

As a Big East fan this makes

As a Big East fan this makes me happy.  Delany thought he'd just add Rutgers and strongarm his way into MSG past 35 plus years of a true Northeast tradition.  No one has ever or will ever give a shit about Rutgers.  We may not have much of a college football tradition around here but our college basketball culture is firmly in place and it has never included Rutgers.  They are a true albatross around the B1G's neck.  Stay out of New York!

This isn't even about

This isn't even about prioritizing sports over family.  They're not celebrating the holidays on the correct days.  That's incredibly annoying.  So you gotta do extra holidays every year for the rest of your life?  No thanks.  Sounds like torture.  You're lucky to get out of that situation.

This is really cool.  Shout

I love Andy Katz's face here.

I love Andy Katz's face here.  (Did she just say that?)

I've heard the same thing

I've heard the same thing about the disappointment with this recruiting class.  That still doesn't mean the timing is Matta's fault though.  I guess it's his fault that he didn't land the recruits but it's OSU's fault for basing his job status on that.

By all accounts it wasn't

By all accounts it wasn't Matta's decision to resign.  And yes the timing was terrible.  Who conducts coaching searches in June?

People are saying they are

People are saying they are circling back around to Chris Holtmann.  Would love to see him flat out reject them this time.

Jesus didn't really show up on film but has great intangibles.

It's about time someone stood up for Jesus.  Thanks to Hugh Freeze.  We should be ashamed of ourselves.

I was all ready to complain

I was all ready to complain about Dave Gavitt going unmentioned in this post but the joke is on me.  It's interesting to note that although this is a B1G/Big East match up it is not part of the 8 annual contests that make up the "Gavitt Games" series currently going on this week between the two conferences.

That will likely be bad for

That will likely be bad for Maryland's chances.

How far back do you have to

How far back do you have to go with the blog to get the reference?  I've been reading for 8 years and I still don't get it.  I love a good inside/running joke but there's gotta be a more effective phrase to solicit donations.  Something like "Support the Blog" would get the point across without alienating new readers and potential donors.

I'm all for the site making

I'm all for the site making as much money as possible from sponsors, merchandise, magazines, and donations.  That being said, "Beveled Guilt" should be renamed.

Education and software/tech

Education and software/tech are probably the biggest industries around here so Boston would be a good choice for employment prospects.  The big software/tech areas would be Kendall Square and the Rt. 128 belt.  Teaching jobs are everywhere.  I wouldn't buy a place until you both have landed jobs and get an idea of what your commutes will be like.

The housing stock is extremely old and expensive for what you get.  That's the biggest drawback to living here.  I'm a lifelong New Englander and I love my home but find it hard to justify paying these prices.  You're coming from NYC though so it will actually be a little cheaper.  Boston is not NYC as I'm sure you are aware since you've spent time here and your wife is fromNewton.  It's much less cosmopolitan which can be both good and bad.

Good luck!

Poor guy fell asleep behind

Poor guy fell asleep behind the wheel and drove into a pond because he's been practicing so hard and giving back to the community.  This is a good lesson for athletes everywhere not to let their professional and charitable commitments become so numerous that it drives them to the point of exhaustion.  Denard almost killed himself for us.

Awesome!  You guys are gonna love the monster seats.  I was at the game yesterday too and saw a few Michigan hats.  You weren't in the center field bleachers by any chance were you?

I love drinking and I love

I love drinking and I love college sports but I don't think putting them together is such a good idea.  I always thought one of the only admirable things the NCAA did was to leave that money on the table.  It's one of the last remaining differences between college sports and the pros.

I wanted them to make the jump and thought it would be successful but it hasn't worked out.  They should drop down.  They just don't have the full support of the school, fans, or the state.
