Literally everything we've…

Literally everything we've been hearing, here and elsewhere, confirms what we already knew -- that we don't yet have The Guy. Aside from JD, who is a freshman, we have a bunch of guys who were brought in to be likely backups. Ergo: Portal time. There's just little chance an unproven rookie head coach coming off a title year and facing the country's toughest schedule is gonna roll the dice with a totally unproven QB.

We're not gonna be anywhere…

We're not gonna be anywhere near Iowa bad on offense. But it's also fair to worry. Super-thin receiver room. Very little proven talent. Very iffy QB situation. Could be...not great, Bob.

I still say a portal QB, probably a grad transfer, is a must.

Can we just stop with …

Can we just stop with “meaningless” infractions and “cheeseburgers.” The infractions, while hardly earthshaking, were actual infractions involving multiple coaches recruiting during the Covid dead period. That’s no small thing, and has a public health element. Stop whining and dissembling.

The laziest "metric" you can…

The laziest "metric" you can toss out there. By this measure, Stetson Bennett should have been a top 5 pick.

Dude, it was a single-car…

Dude, it was a single-car crash by a first-time offender with a presumably clean criminal record. He's not looking at "real jail-time." He's looking at a fine, a suspended license, and some community service or probation.

But he definitely is looking at a potential firing. Moore has to get on top of this issue and establish a zero-tolerance rule. The program's reputation matters.

Good lord, you're lame…

Good lord, you're lame. Downtown looks fine -- certainly better than downtown K.C. -- and this has zero to do with players being scared of Detroit. The only people scared of downtown Detroit are people like you. The players who aren't showing are ones who worry they'll be embarrassed. Notice how all the top players are showing.

JUB will write a book in…

JUB will write a book in order to cash in. But the book won't reveal anything other than what the program wants you to know, and will dedicate several chapters to musings by local barbers.

It was lame.

It was lame.

Kentucky was turn to some…

Kentucky was turn to some equally sleazy, ethically challenged greaseball like Bruce Pearl. Someone who plays "I'm a god-fearing man" card like a televangelist.

Rudock had also just lost…

Rudock had also just lost the starting job at IOWA. We can do better this time. Just watch.

He won’t be a problem for…

He won’t be a problem for defenses if he can’t pass.

It will be someone nobody…

It will be someone nobody has predicted bc the obvious ones already transferred. But there’s PLENTY of QBS who will jump at a shot to be QB1 at Michigan. And I still maintain there’s zero chance M just sticks with its current QB room. ZERO.

Bama is mastering losing in…

Bama is mastering losing in the semis.

OP: This post violates the rules about paywalled articles. Taking all the major details out of an article is largely the same as just cutting and pasting it. This denies the publication any traffic or income, and contributes to why most legit publications are struggling or dying. What you’re doing is a kind of theft and it”s gross.

Pretty sure Bo, being the…

Pretty sure Bo, being the forward-thinking man he was, opposed it as well.

Any post with “i don’t know…

Any post with “i don’t know if this guys is credible” is a post that shouldn’t exist.

There is no Netflix boycott,…

There is no Netflix boycott, except by a fraction of conspiracy nuts and snowflakes of the sort who scream about cancel culture and then ban books involving anything they don’t like. This isn’t a thing. The poster isn’t even willing to cite an example.

It would be so on-brand for…

It would be so on-brand for washington to draft a QB first — because that’s proven to be the stupidest way to start a rebuild. Any young QB behind a bad line will get slaughtered. You have to first build in the trenches.

Agreed. Michigan shouldn’t…

Agreed. Michigan shouldn’t become a mercenary program.

Does FAU have any poachable…

Does FAU have any poachable quality players? I feel like his most recent team was mostly upper-classmen, but I don't know about their eligibility.

Hitting the portal to fill…

What? Leaning heavily on the portal to fill out a nearly barren roster will NOT work at Michigan, especially if it wants to build long-term stability. Michigan can largely get only grad transfers or freshmen. There's no quickie solution, dude. This is a total rebuild, basically starting from zero. Good luck luring quality senior transfers to a team that will probably finish last in the B10 (and that also doesn't throw a lot of NIL money around). This rebuild has to begin with recruiting. And it will take a couple years. The Beilein approach. The portal is just for adding a piece here and there.

Fucking Warde --

Oh, wait.

Fucking Warde --

Oh, wait.

Great. Now let's watch half…

Great. Now let's watch half the board find a way to use this development to shit on Warde.

Our WR room is looking…

Our WR room is looking painfully sparse and probably will continue to unless we land a name QB from the portal. I don’t see top tier receivers transferring to M for Jack Tuttle or a bunch of totally unproven 3-star types.

You don’t think his team…

You don’t think his team would notice two $500,000 transfers to some random dude? Nonsense.
Also, transfers over $10k require authorization and must be reported. You really think the translator had direct access to Ohtani’s accounts, which were almost certainly handled by business managers? This doesn’t add up. There’s no indication the translator handled finances.  My guess: the story Ohtani’s reps originally told was largely accurate. He covered his buddy’s debt. Then his team realized that that would be illegal. So then they claimed the money was stolen. Ohtani is in trouble, I’d guess. The league’s top star wired millions to an illegal bookie. PR disaster.

So funny to me how “local…

So funny to me how “local ties” is a thing fans — and local media — love to throw out as significant. It’s not. It’s provincial. Good coaches catch on anywhere.

I think Franz was a Beilein…

I think Franz was originally a Beilein recruit who stuck with Juwan. Franz was also a legacy of sorts.

Crazy to me so many people…

Crazy to me so many people think Moore is just gonna roll the dice in his first year with some totally unproven career backup QB — while facing the country’s hardest schedule. None of the guys on the roster are top-tier starters.  I’d put it at 100 percent Moore is intensely scouting for a transfer. To do otherwise would be beyond foolish. Transfer incoming. Rudock it.

Crazy to me how many people…

Crazy to me how many people here think Moore plans to kick off his career with a no-name QB w

Not to be the Debbie Downer,…

Not to be the Debbie Downer, but didn't OSU's running game underperform over the past couple seasons?

Yeah, that was years ago…

Yeah, that was years ago. They've had nothing but passers since then. The game changes. Nobody wins with a QB who can't pass.

Except for the whole passing…

Except for the whole passing thing.

Strongly disagree. When a…

Strongly disagree. When a good QB1 at a mid program sees he could walk straight into a starting spot at Michigan, a la Jake Rudock, that will shake him loose. You're underestimating the degree to which CFB has become the Wild West. Literally anything could happen.

It would ultimately be best…

It would ultimately be best for JJ to not go in the top 10. Get with a decent team. Sit for a year or two. Don’t get broken.

No question he lost some…

No question he lost some speed over the past 2 years. This result feels accurate.

Precisely. Wanted players to…

Precisely. Wanted players to get a piece of the pie isn't the same as allowing a totally unregulated, quasi-illegal shadow economy. There must be rules and transparency and governance -- same as in any professional sport. This is just ridiculous.

Why would anyone at this…

Why would anyone at this point trust Hole’s reporting?

Looks like 5 or 6 guys might…

Looks like 5 or 6 guys might have benefitted from staying 1 more year. Mostly guys we anticipated. Trente being the exception.

Thanks for posting an…

Thanks for posting an article we shouldn’t read.

I knew Denard had no future…

I knew Denard had no future as a QB. But he seemed like a he could be a fine RB. Seems mayve his playing QB in college limited his development for the pro game.

In his playing days, he had…

In his playing days, he had a bunch of legal issues involving alcohol and an incident in which he allegedly grabbed a female cop. But the last incident was like 20-25 years ago, so...

Overly bullish. Most players…

Overly bullish. Most players who want to leave were not going to leave during this window bc it was too late in the academic calendar. Some will go when the next portal window opens. But hopefully not many.

It’s all just noise. It will…

It’s all just noise. It will end with a settlement in which FSU leaves and the league disbands.

So the basketball coach some…

So the basketball coach some how has far more restrictions than the football coaches, who just won a title? I don't think so.

And Texas is coached by Sark…

And Texas is coached by Sark and playing in the SEC. Law of averages says Texas won't repeat last year's record.

I wouldn't go so far as to…

I wouldn't go so far as to just accept a 4-loss season. Not with our returning defense. I'm thinking the regular-season floor is 3 losses and the likeliest scenario is 2.

Big games: OSU, Texas, Oregon, USC, Wash. The last 2 are likely wins. The first 3 are very tough. But we just need to win 1 out of those 3, which seems reasonable.

And I think we land a starting QB, WR, and CB from the portal.

10-2. CFP.

A Michigan player who wants…

A Michigan player who wants to start had to go to Alabama to do that.

Net win.

I don't think speculating on…

I don't think speculating on what players might leave, based on no information, is helpful.

Humblebragging alert.

Humblebragging alert.

I'd be genuinely interested…

I'd be genuinely interested to know how many people who use this blog are actively interested in the hockey team. I have a feeling it's a small percentage relative to how much coverage it gets here. But I could absolutely be wrong. I have no issue with the fact that hockey gets a good bit of attention here, even though my interest in the team is roughly equivalent to my interest in the M baseball team -- passive at best. As an alum, I know dozens of fairly rabid M football and basketball fans. But I only know one hockey fan. I'm wondering if that's typical, and wonder if there's any data on this.
