Thank you all for your thoughts and sentiments. Yes, these are dark times and Passover is the story of overcoming obstacles. We will all prevail if we choose to be the very best version of ourselves each and every day. Alright, I’m cooking for 40 so it’s time to leave MGOBLOG so I can start swearing again
Doesn’t it also depend on what other teams are like too? Next year certainly isn’t going to rival the ‘96 team in terms of talent but could they win it all because…stuff happens? We’ll find out
Great story about when he told the home plate ump before the last game prior to the All-Star break to dump him in the 1st inning so he could get more time on his fishing trip. They don’t make ‘em like that anymore
I think the latter is the case. It’s not really a question of whether or not a PI firm was involved-the NCAA admitted that. Michigan (and likely others in the B1G) wanted this to go away which is why certain deals were cut. At some point a book or 3 will come out about this past season and we can sus out the info then.
Kentucky will be thrilled if it happens. They wanted him gone but didn’t want to pay the 31 mil buyout. They’ll get what they wanted. Time will tell if they’ll want what they get.
Might be. But the other way to look at it is that other schools who may rank well on signing day will lose more of their top talent than we might. Case in point: while I didn’t actually read the article, I’ll assume that both Air Noland and Julian Sayin are factored into OSU’s class. We know that one of these guys will likely never play for them and possibly both won’t. However, they might bring in another player that you can’t factor into these rankings. My point is simply that with all the player movement this is just a total crapshoot at this time
Um, I’m a Giants fan. We liked Wink. With the amount of talent they had on that side of the ball (not much) and with the position the offense often put them in he did an admirable job. He didn’t get fired for performance. It was that he and Daboll hated each other for various reasons. Now, if he gets the job I have no clue if it will work out but the dude can coach defense
I certainly trust your experience as an antitrust lawyer as opposed to my layman’s view view as a simple fan but you’ll never be able to convince me that the 1922 Federal League case that stated baseball was not interstate commerce and therefore was exempt from Sherman was not complete and total bullshit. The owners had zero interest in maintaining competitive balance but rather restricting player movement for cost concerns. The fact that the case was affirmed later on in Toolson and, I believe, still stands today is an insult to those players who tried to organize back then. In the end it worked out thanks to Marvin Miller with help from Messersmith and McNally (see Ohtani, Shohei)
I was reading about this earlier. I’m more of a baseball fan but it’s still not clear to me how blackouts will work. I swear the MLB office is intent on having no eyeballs under the age of 82 on the sport in the next 10 years
With the way he got hit just as he was turning I’m willing to say that 7 out of 10 players would’ve fumbled there. I’m so grateful he was part of the 30%.

Not sure you could be more wrong, yet more right at the same time
In the face!
Bluto and Tommy Callahan would disagree with you

I don’t do the pay sites anymore. Is Pete Nakos usually a credible source?
I’m so old that when I read the headline I thought he was a “fullback”. I’m 44
At one point they did set up their own governing body: the NCAA
Probably not but it would be quite the story if the dude who was named head of the whole thing lost his primary job on the same day

With all of the player movement it’s really difficult to put too much stock in these rankings anymore
Apparently the CFP Committee doesn’t read MGOBLOG

Watching Brian’s Song
No such thing as “too much time here”. Otherwise you’d never know about Justin Feagin, what Wingding thinks and overtaking ass
Well, technically that’s pay for play and with the hard on the NCAA has for us I’m sure they’d reference your blog post if JJ came back
I prefer the Iranian dictator to this post
Why not go with the architect…Wink Martindale
I wished there was a place in this world for me where being offered 18 mil/year WASN’T the biggest part of the negotiation

The University of Tampa program will get shut down for this…again.

And in the 2024 calendar year we’ll be playing (or have played) each playoff team from 2023
Did you?

Maybe I’m just emotionally exhausted from it all but this comment made me spit my drink out
Whatever he decides to do it’s totally cool. He’s made the place better from where he found it. Thank you, Jim!
