My wife was a member of the women's basketball team and has shared plenty of stories of two a days....throwing up was a common theme...Jim Plocki had her running the stairs of the Big House...running at the track out back by the IM building at 6am...she and her teammates got in trouble for a "violation of team rules"...oh boy, did she have it in for her by Coach G.
Honestly, though. I have a great amount of appreciation for these stories. While I consider myself to be very determined person, I don't think I could go through any of that.

I just got home after working a full day at the office--although I did get to catch a bit of the Special Olympics basketball games at the Galen Center at lunch--and am relaxing with a glass of Gentlemen's Jack, before going over to my grandmother's house for a family reunion dinner.

I recall Turner/Slocum/Pipkins all committed near signing day. Moreover, they didn't appear to have long-standing relationships built with the coaching staff prior to their commitment. Not saying there is a correlation here, but there may be more risk with taking a recruit late in the proces. Something to think about, especially with the late recruits from the '15 class.

That's a fair point. My thoughts are that integrating strategic internships like this could have a beneficial impact on student-athlete career development. I recall Harbaugh speaking a while back of the benefits of student-athletes having a meaningful summer job. Not sure if those comments were within the context of a summer internship, but nice to hear nonetheless.

In 2007 while I was in the MAcc program at Ross, I had the chance to see Sam Zell speak at the business school about entrepreneurship and share his personal story. I recall him walking into the room with gold bracelets on both wrists plus a pretty heavy looking gold chain necklace--which I found interesting...especially given his emphasis on having liquid wealth.
My friend and I tried to get a word with him after he was done speaking but he literally ran out the door and got into a black Chevy Suburban, which zoomed away just after he got in the car. I wondered why he would be in such a rush to leave. Shortly thereafter, the EOP sale to Blackstone was announced--and it all made sense. What a great call that was to sell at the peak.

This interview was obviously painful for Harbaugh, but it's not like Cowherd did him any favors calling him out alleging he doesn't understand how to sell his program.

I get the sense that Harbaugh’s zealous passion for the game (and life in general) will have an infectious impact on the team, especially as the season progresses. It’s going to be great to observe his impact on the field first hand, in part because I am not exactly sure how his “craziness” will manifest itself. In this regard, I think will be a very unpredictable season, just as his first six months as head coach have been. #cantwait.

I live in Claremont and think it's the best town in the area around Chino. It has a small town New England vibe--it was founded by New England settlers--and it has the best restaurants in the area. The Village is great, it's a very walkable town, and it is also a nice college town supported by the Claremont Colleges. Great hiking in the foothills. Nice public transit, as you can take the Metrolink train station into DTLA. Your commute will only be 15 minutes, compared to 45 or so for Pasadena--and it's cheaper too. I would give Claremont a serious look.

1) Tax Manager at EY, with a focus on sports/entertainment clients. (I should probably get back to work.)
2) No car, even though I live in LA. (The wife drives a Prius.)
3) No pressure. With two girls, all my focus is on them, so I don't give social pressure much thought. Heck, I went over two years without a cell phone.

When Hoke came on board, it was expected that he would recruit California hard. It wasn't just because he coached at San Diego St; it was because he helped recruit a lot of talent from California while he was an assistant coach at UM--just a few examples include Tom Brady, Charles Drake, Courtney Morgan, and Zach Kaufman. All of those guys were very high on Hoke when he was hired, which makes the lack of focus on Cali recruiting so confusing.
