Take any NBA game you want and watch it all the way through and show me even ONE oher player who kicks outward like that following a shot, rebound, time out, ect.
There's one dude in the NBA who repeatidly kicks other players (accidently of course) and that's Draymond Green. The good news is that the officials are now on to his act so he cant get away with it anymore.

If the story breaking right now regarding him pushing a player with a concussion back to practice ahead of protocol is correct that is NOT good. And my guess would be if that is true there is probably more stuff happening like that we havent heard about yet.
Great coach but if he did make a kid run 6 miles while still in concussion protocol I get why the University had to do something. Especially if others were about to go public with stories like that as well.
|1 day 4 hours ago||Bingo||
Actually OP the foul shot disparity IS the reason we lost. But not because the officials tilted the field - it's because we dont take the ball to the basket and instead rely on jump shots.
No issue at all with the refs last night. Big issue with our style of play IMO.
|1 day 6 hours ago||Money quote||
"Protected flagships in the Big Ten did especially well with officials, the research shows. Ohio State, the conference’s most competitive flagship team in the years Brymer studied, was 14 percent less likely to be dinged for a discretionary foul than, say, Purdue, a non-flagship team with little chance of contending for a national title. The Buckeyes fared even better with refs in 2014, when it made the first-ever formal playoff and won the national championship on Jan. 12, 2015."

I mean how fucked up is it that the party being left can determine where the unhappy party that's leaving can go?
|2 days 3 hours ago||Well here in Cleveland||
Three reactions - everytime - when I bring up how badly we got fucked over:
1. "The spot was good - he made the first down". Then they'll show me the badly photoshopped overhead pic of the stop. When I point out there were a jillion bad calls up that one and that their pic was faked they shrug their shoulders and say "but he made it".
2. "Calls went both ways on Saturday. Quit your bitching - you got some calls and we got some calls. No game is officiated perfectly" When I ask them to point out to me the bad calls that went against OSU there is dead silence. And so far nobody and I mean nobody here has been able to show me one after I show them about 100 that fellow posters have put up here over the past several days (thanks guys).
3. BUCKS WON. HAR-HAR-HAR! BUCKS WON. BUCKS WON! O.H....... This is my personal favorite. No mention of the calls, no acknowledgement that our complaints might be valid, just....that.
One interesting nuggest is that of the about 20 or so people I've spoken to here since Saturday not ONE knew the background of the officiating crew. Not one. And the Ohio sports guys I follow on Twitter dismiss it as some sort of Michigan "tin foil hat" concept. If you guys think people know that there were two OSU fanboys reffing that game you're wrong. They don't.
|2 days 4 hours ago||Iowa reaction vs OSU||
For the record you saw none of the reaction after the Iowa game you saw after OSU. We lost that game, fair and square, and as upset as Harbaugh must've been - he never said a word about the officiating.
Like Pope Landro said - nobody likes feeling their playing in a rigged game. Unless you're Ohio State that is and the rig is on your side. Then it's perfectly ok.
|2 days 4 hours ago||Thanks for an actual "rational" response||

|2 days 4 hours ago||Sure glad you kids figured that one out||
BTW - if you really a "Rational Buckeye" you would agree that your team, through no fault of theirs by the way, benefited greatly from an officiating crew that probably worked on the O-H/I-O thing during commericial breaks.
For the record, I dont hold the Buckeyes responsible for the officiating gift, you guys had no control over who was selected. What drives me nuts is when I show my OSU friends here clip after clip after clip of us getting hosed and show them the background (they never know) of the two guys responsible, the reaction is always one of three things:
1. The spot was good - he made the first down (no mention of the other 372 bad calls)
2. Calls went both ways. You got the benefit of some and we got the benefit of some (but they can never show me any clips or reference any plays where we got the benefit)
3. HAR, HAR HAR. GO BUCKS! YOU LOST. GO BUCKS!
|2 days 4 hours ago||Harbaugh is just like Bo||
Neither suffered fools gladly and Bo would let both officials and his own players know when they made errors and like Harbaugh, the more egregios the error the more Bo lost it. Go watch a clip of him melting down in his last game as a coach when the crooked PAC10 ref stole the Rose Bowl from him. No different than what you saw with Harbaugh on Saturday.
As far as the B!G goes I've said and I'm going to keep saying it. All Harbaugh would have to do is ask the media ONE question and then it would be off to the races on an investigation.
"Why were those particular officials selected for the game last Saturday and under what criteria where they selected?"
There HAS to a system in place - what is it? And if the B1G just followed whatever system they normally use this whole thing gets put to bed fast. It's only if there's a system in place and they didnt follow it (for some odd reason) that this thing gets ugly.
Based on last night my strong suspecision is that Harbaugh, our Athletic Department and maybe even this blog itself has been warned to cool it on the officiating talk and let things run their course.
|2 days 5 hours ago||As a Michigan fan||

|2 days 6 hours ago||2008 Sugar Bowl||
Undefeated and high scoring Hawaii meets, at the time of the game, #5 ranked and two loss Georga. Hawaii was the last undefeated team in the country and the national narrative was they were going to show the world that a team from outside the established conferences (more than five back then) could play with the big boys if just given a chance. Georgia, by the way, was in the same basic situation we're in this year in that they strongly felt they should be playing in the Championship game and thought they got boned out of it.
Score was 41-10 and it wasnt that close. Georgia basically felt sorry for them and stopped pummelling the Rainbow Warriors and I fear the exact same thing would happen to Western if they get matched up against somebody in the top 10.
|2 days 7 hours ago||Poor Barry||
Now he's got a whole bunch of Michigan fans thinking he's our savior....
|2 days 7 hours ago||Perspective from Ohio||
I can tell you that the fairly large group of OSU fans/alumni I know are absolutely NOT wanting us to make it in this year if it means they have to play us again. While they all "know" the game was officiated absolutely fairly and above board in all areas they do acknowledge that we dont seem to see it that way and our motivation on a rematch might be a smidge higher than normal.
If we make it in I want to play them again so bad it hurts. I have a feeling that would be the single most motivated Michigan team we've ever seen given how badly they got jobbed last weekend.
We can hope.
|2 days 19 hours ago||Ohio State||
They will take the mother of all ass-kickings and it will be glorious.
|3 days 37 min ago||But they werent "bad"||
They were crooked and that's a BIG difference. Bad denotes mistakes were made, honest mistakes, by people either incapable of doing the job or simply just having an off day.
But in my opinion, and the opinion of what seems to be the vast majority of the great unwashed, it was much more than that and that's why people cant just "let it go" Bad officiating is one thing - this was out and out theft of a game by officials who had a rooting interest at the very least in seeing OSU win.
I dont know how old you are or if you even remember the game Uncle Leo but do you remember how it felt after the "Spartan Bob" game against MSU? When a clock operator added time to the game to allow Michigan State to win? I didnt get over that game very quickly either and the stakes were much, much lower.

There's more to this than just wanting to keep the board uncluttered IMO Timmy. Look at what's up right now. Take down the threads pertaining to the game and how it was stolen and we've got the opportunity to discuss the upcoming softball schedule, Taysom Hill's injury, Tiger Wood and EMU upcoming bowl game. Not exactly a murders row of content to be perserved.
I dont think it's a coincidence that Warde Manual issued his whatever the Hell that was yesterday, Brian tells us to stop talking about it and Harbaugh goes radio silent. None of that makes any sense to me at least -especially when what happened to our team was SO obvious to anyone with eyes to see.

|3 days 4 hours ago||Playing devil's advocate here my old friend||
Doesnt the value of beating a conference champion also cut both ways? Meaning that if the committee puts high value on conference championships (and the defeat of said champion) wouldnt they also want to place those champions into the final four?
Personally I think three spots are locked. Alabama, OSU & the winner of Wisconsin/Penn State. And I dont see any way in Hell they give the B1G a third slot - no matter how deserving we might be.
|3 days 4 hours ago||Um....I think criteria #1 might be a problem....||
What criteria does the selection committee use to rank the teams?
|3 days 4 hours ago||Playoff committee however when evaluating our schedule||
|3 days 5 hours ago||I agree but put Oklahoma at #9||
So let's leave Alabama & OSU in as locks leaving two slots open. IMO there's no way in Hell they'll take Michigan over the B1G conference champion - especially since they'll already have selected OSU. Meaning there's one spot left and we aint getting it.
We blew our chance in Iowa, not Columbus. Win THAT game and we're sitting in the OSU seat right now. In the dance and wating to see how high we're seeded. That's the game we should be pissed off about cause no excuses there - we yacked it away with no help from the officials and not much help from Iowa.

Don't say anything when others take advantadge of you.(officiating was fair and balanced)
Don't call attention to the fact you're getting screwed over - it's unseemingly. (pretend like everything's ok - nothing to see here)
I so wish Hackett was still here. I guaren-fucking-tee you he wouldnt roll-over to the B1G like Manual did yesterday.
Someday I hope Michigan gets tired of being the laughing stock-punching bag for the league and actually does something about it. And I've been saying for three days all Harbaugh has to do is ask one simple question and then stand back:
"Why were those particular officials chosen and under what criteria where they selected?"
Should be an easy answer. There must be some methodology in place for referee selection for big games - what is it?
|3 days 9 hours ago||Whoever it is||
Got to Warde Manual too. Lost in all of our angst over the shutdown of refereeing threads was the total puss-out of our AD yesterday.
Somewhere Don Canham is rolling over in his grave. When we got boned back in 74 by the B!G 10 he didnt issue a statement saying "the league has spoken - we have nothing more to say on the subject".
He should be up front and supporting our coach - not capitulating to fucking Delany on this issue. We got screwed....HARD...and the eye test coupled with the video evidence 100% proves it.

|3 days 18 hours ago||My wish||
Is that Jim would simply ask one question at his next presser. "Why were those particular officials chosen and what was the criteria used for the selection?"
It's a simple question and one that should be easy to answser IF there was nothing nefarious in the selection. If there was more going on (and I strongly suspect their was) it will be an impossible question to answer.
If Jim asks it the B1G will be in one hell of a box IMO.
|3 days 19 hours ago||Well not quite||
He can certainly ensure there is no more discussion HERE about refereeing. It's his blog and it's his rules.
FWIW I think much of his distain for these threads has to do with how he views officiating issues in general. I know through the years he and I have disagreed on officiating issues with Brian attributing anomolies usually to either incompetence or simply luck (or rather no luck) of the draw while I've been far quicker to attribute it to malice with intent.
As a guest in this blog "house" I will abide by Brian's rules even if I disagree with them. If you feel real strongly about the issue there are lots of other places you can express yourself with like minded fans.

He should offer to pay double the fine if anyone at the B1G office will explain publically why those particular officials were chosen for the game Saturday.
|4 days 40 min ago||And his response||
Thank you for your nice letter. We did, in fact, spend a LOT of time on the selection of the officiating crew for Saturday's game (to the point where my wife started asking questions if you know what i mean) and after much thought and deliberation we selected those guys as it gave OSU the absolute best chance of winning. And it's only with OSU winning that the B1G has a shot at two entries in the final four and have you seen how much money that would bring in? I mean if we could pull that off it would make the payoff for the inclusion of Rutgers & Maryland into the league look like raising hot dog prices at a Purdue home game by a quarter!
Anyways sorry things didnt work out for you guys. Think positive and root like hell for Washington & Clemson to lose this Saturday and my guess we'll both be quite happy with the end results.

Either penalties uncalled or called penalities that should have been let go. It would interesing to see that metric calculated on a weekly basis - especially by someone like Brian who doesnt inherently see the officials as evil or having an agenda one way or the other.

It was brutally one-sided and biased in favor of OSU thanks in no small part to the fact the B1G 10 selected a crew in which two officials had strong Ohio State ties and a third had been suspended in the past for incompetence.

|4 days 3 hours ago||My one wish||
Is that at some point in his next presser Harbaugh asks the question "who selected these particular officials for our game agains OSU and under what basis were they chosen?"
I know Brian doesnt put as much stock in the impact of officiating on the game's outcome as I do but I truly believe they changed the game to such a point to virtually ensure Ohio would win. I'd like to know why they were on the field on Saturday.
My guess is that will be an extremely difficult and uncomfortable question to answer.

Hindsight is 20-20
But FWIW I thought the same thing you did - that he should've used the TO to save time for a potential FG try.
|4 days 6 hours ago||Going public with the background of the officials||
I said thin in another thread but along with beating the drum for inclusion in the final four Jim also needs to call out the B1G for the selection of that particular officiating crew on Saturday. The average person has no idea of their background and their ties to OSU so as of now, Harbaugh just looks like he's bitching cause we lost.
This morning I was discussing the game with at least six OSU fans and not one had any idea that the refs had any tie to OSU at all. None. And if they dont I'm pretty sure most people out there dont as well.
Harbaugh needs to lead his presser today with "I want to know who selected the officials for our game Saturday and based on what criteria." The world needs to know the deck was stacked against us from the jump.
|4 days 6 hours ago||Best outcome today||
Will be for Harbaugh to ask in his presser how and why those particular officials were selected for the game. While WE all know their background I can assure you the vast majority of the public does not. This morning at my office, for example, I spoke to at least 1/2 dozen OSU fans and not one was aware of the OSU ties of the officials. Not one.
Along with getting on the soapbox for inclusion in the final four I think Jim needs to double down on the officiating bullshit and not back away from it out of fear of censure. The B1G purposively stacked the deck against us - people need to know that and today for the most part only Michigan fans do..

Fixing the students is nice. Fixing the general public is a whole different problem and not one that's under control yet by any means. And my prediction is all that shit that Brian described and I've personally lived will come roaring back to the surface when we beat those assholes on Saturday.

I was at a party and stoned out my mind when it happened. I was the only guy watching the game and when it occured I couldnt believe it and literally questioned "did I just see what I think I saw?" They didnt replay it and the volume was down on the set so I couldn't hear if the announcers said anything.
It wasnt until the next morning when I heard he got fired for it that I finally accepted what I saw was real. Up to then I just figured i was just too high to process that Woody actually punched an opposing player during a game.
|1 week 3 days ago||Bullshit||
His argument is complete bullshit. Basically it's "I want to be different cause if everybody votes the same way it's not diverse enough."
So to him 2+2=7 is acceptable cause it's different and who are we to impose our standards of math upon him?
I know some people hate to hear this but certain things are just fucking WRONG. Not different-WRONG. His poll with Wisconsin at #2 and Penn Fucking State at #3 is wrong.
|1 week 4 days ago||QB Competition||
So were reports this summer about Speight & O'Korn being "neck and neck" complete bullshit? I mean even our own esteemed UMBig11 called his shot that it was O'Korn as did many others in the Michigan reporting inner circle. And I will freely admidt it was all this chatter that to me openly requesting more PT for O'Korn when Wilton had his struggles.
But based on what I watched on Saturday (and during earlier blowout games) the worst Speight has to offer is better than O'Korn's best. I mean it's not even close IMO between the two. I get why Harbaugh would say the two are close (motivate Speight and keep O'Korn thinking positively) but what I dont get is the reporting of same as fact.

My Cavs went from dogshit to the NBA finals in one year thanks to Lebron feeling guilty about fucking over Cleveland and comging back home coupled with getting lucky in the lottery and being able to parlay those assets (plus Kyrie) into Kevin Love, JR Smith & Iman Shumpert.
It can happen fast in the NBA so maybe when Simmons comes back the Sixers can make a similar move. Lord knows Philly fans deserve better than they've gotten over the past several years.

|2 weeks 5 days ago||Team loss||
People here pointing fingers at any one player or coach for yesterday's debacle are missing the mark IMO. This was a team loss in the purest sense:
1. Offense - Spreight may have been off but dropped passes and crappy blocking didnt help matters. Few holes to run through and playcalling, as noted by many, extremely suspect.
2. Defense - Iowa may only have a couple of plays (as noted by many here) but they rammed them down our throut and we couldnt get them off the field when we needed to. Only gave up 12 points but on the final drive, when we needed a stop the worst, we couldnt do it.
3. Special Teams - No return yards to speak of, back to back running into the kicker penalties, not fielding a punt that led to the safety, poor punting on our part and a fumbled kick-off return to start the second half. Kenny Allen's 51 yard FG was a nice surprise but that was about it.
4. Coaching - 10 men on the field for the final FG, craptastic play calling for both offense & defense, wasted time outs, poor clock management on the final drive and predictable use of both Peppers & McDoom. We used to roast Hoke over these things if I remember correctly.
All in all EVERYBODY shit the bed. Hell, I bet Brian, Seth and crew didnt cheer loudly enough either. This one's on the team - stop looking for individual scapegoats cause there's plenty of blame to go around.

|3 weeks 1 day ago||Why would they open it up against Michigan?||
Beats the living fuck out of me cause they sure as hell dont do it against anyone else they play.
But they've done it against us, every year, without fail since about 1978 when Hayden Frye got there and they havent stopped since.
Watch and see.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||or this||
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Fact remains it was close||
And getting jobbed by the refs is part of the MSU tradition. See Desmond Howard non-interference 1990, Clock-gate 2002 and so on. I ran down each loss for the past 25 years and almost without fail something wonky (like refusing to call holding this year) happened.
Iowa is the similar but different. They ALWAYS play differently against us...always. Break tendencies, call plays they never do, run out of different formations and so on. Just as MSU plays out of their mind when they see us Iowa decides to do something different.
All I'm saying is that if people are expecting zone left, zone left, short pass, punt on Saturday they're going to be disapointed. More like play-action deep, reverse, hook & ladder then go for it on fourth and 5 from mid field.
We get the Anti-Ferentz.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Iowa||
For this game Kirk Ferentz & Greg Davis will look nothing like the bland, boring conservative team Seth charted. For this game they will channel their inner Mike Leach and will throw on first down, run reverses, go for it repeatidly on fourth down and generally play like nobody's seen before.
For Michigan Iowa has ALWAYS run counter to whatever they've done up to that game and this one will be no exception. Remember Lloyd in the 2007 Citrus Bowl and how we all kept saying "where the hell has THAT been all year" during the game? Well rest assured Iowa fans will be saying the same thing Saturday night. He's always done that against us and prolly always will.
Just like I told everybody the MSU score would be tighter than anyone liked (and it was) this game is going to look nothing like all the other games Iowa has played this year. I think we'll still win easily but it's not going to look like the stuff Seth highlighted. No way in hell.

Tonight they are going for $70 each. Shit I could eat/drink that without even going in to watch the game.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Nice try but no||
I'm calling bullshit on this one. From 1986 through 2014 I went to every OSU game in AA and 5-6 in Columbus. Each year in AA took OSU friends who wore their gear to the tailgate, in the stadium and to the bars afterwards. The WORST I saw was a buddy who had a really cute drunken coed go up to him at Frasers Pub and said "Fuck you Ohio State man" and I think she was flirting with him.
My experience in Columbus was NOTHING like that. Not once, not ever. I would love to see just one pic of you in AA wearing OSU gear or vice versa. The OSU fans here in Cleveland who claim "it's all the same" have, without exception, never stepped foot in Ann Arbor and just assume its the same everywhere.
That you went to OSU I believe. That you went to Michigan and saw the same treatment of OSU fans that you did Michigan fans in Columbus I 100% do not believe.

|3 weeks 3 days ago||Sorry no it's not||
If you've been to games in both cities you'd know that the level of hostility and physical violence the average OSU "fan" exhibits is on a whole nother level to that of any other school. A few years ago Texas fans were treated similarly, Texas who had never even played OSU before, and the general response was "what's wrong with these people?"
I'm a Browns season ticket holder so I see it first-hand there too. It's just not ok to these folks to support another team - it's just not. I've been to probably 20 or more Michigan/OSU games and I've never seen anybody cursed out wearing scarlet & red much less punched in AA and I've never not seen it in Columbus.
I've been to games in every B1G stadium except Nebraska and I can tell you it's not even close to the same anywhere else. People down here are insane.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Amen to that||
Live in Cleveland and while it's way tamer up here you still get the random comment when I wear my Michigan gear.
My best Columbus game story took place in 2002 walking in to the stadium. We were in a group of four all wearing Michigan gear but saying nothing to anyone but ourselves. Out of nowhere a drunken dude ran up and start dropping F bombs on us and then sucker-punched one of our guys in the side of the head RIGHT IN FRONT OF A COLUMBUS POLICEMAN. Our guy goes down and he takes off into the crowd and the cop doesnt move an inch or say a word. I look at the cop and say "arent you going to do anything?" and his response was "you shouldnt have worn the shirts guys."
So apparently it's ok to assult Michigan fans if they commit the crime of wearing anything that says Michigan on it.
What's also funny is that they absolutely believe that the OSU fans are treated the same up in Ann Arbor even though you cant find one person who had it happen to them. They are convinced that attacking opposing team's fans is normal behavior for all schools and wont hear otherwise.
I would expect it be pretty rough this year as the stakes are going to high and for the first time in forever they might actually lose and they know it. They won't be happy.

I'd take every one of those cause we won. How about Wisconsin 28-48, OSU 7-37, Mississippi State 14-52? Or more recently 0 -31 Notre Dame, 10-26 Utah, 14-30 Minnesota, 24-26 Rutgers (how is that even possible), 11-35 MSU (and losing 7-8), 16-23 Maryland and finally 28-42 OSU.
Those are the games stuck in my head. Not the wins (ugly though they may be). It's the losses. So no, not bored in the least.
