|3 days 10 hours ago||This broke last night locally||
Carl Monday, a Cleveland investigative reporter, broke the story absent Conley's name late last night. He identified him as a "likely high first round pick" which unfortunately meant it could be one of three different Buckeyes but no names were being released.
FWIW he is absolutely and categorically denying that any part of this story is true. Obviously none of us know a thing right now but her story sure seems pretty far-fetched to me.

Some of you LOSERS spend way, way too much time here. It's pretty apparent to me that you guys either have no life or no sense of balance in your life. Either way - those posters who are seemingly always here and in every thread really need to re-evaluate their life priorities. No telling what somebody who's obbessed with this place might do in real life.
Good thing for them I'm here to keep an eye on things.
|4 days 8 hours ago||Why do I assume that?||
For the exact same reason the NFL assumes that. Because the likelyhood (not fact - likelyhood) is that is why the test was diluted. Odds are much better that a diluted test is an indication of an attempt to mask a result than it is an honest mistake.
Look, the NFLPA and Owners collectively agreed this to be the case. Dont blame me cause both parties agreed on this point. A diluted test is treated as a positive one - ask yourself if you think I'm being unfair "why did both the players AND the owners agree to this?"
If we can be honest with ourselves for just a minute if the diluted test results were for any of the OSU players in the draft and they said "I just over-hydrated" how many people here would believe it?
I think the number rhymes with hero. Same as the number of people outside of our little maize n blue world who believed Peppers when they heard Peppers explanation for it.
|4 days 9 hours ago||Kinda ironic actually||
From the very beginning my dream draft for the Browns went Garrett at #1, Trubisky (or whichever QB they like) at #12 and Peppers at #33.
If he falls out of round 1 I'd LOVE to see the Browns grab him to start the second round.
|4 days 9 hours ago||Hope you're right but I doubt it||
Latest mock by Charlie Casserly of NFL.com has dropped him out of round 1 as have several others I've seen posted today locally here in Cleveland.
|4 days 9 hours ago||Fair enough||
You are absolutely right when you say we have no way of knowing if the dilution was due to drining too much water to try and mask something or simply over-hydration.
But the fact remains the NFL doesnt give two shits and treats the test as a positive. Not me, the NFL.
And let me ask you a question. When you heard Reuben Foster tested positive for a diluted sample was your first thought "oh...I bet he just over-hydrated" or did you think he was trying to hide someting?
|4 days 10 hours ago||From here||
"The latest comes courtesy of Ian Rapoport. Foster told him that he failed a drug test at the NFL Combine due to a diluted sample. The NFL’s substance abuse policy treats a diluted sample the same as a positive test. This means he will be enrolled in the NFL’s substance abuse program upon being drafted. That means increased testing and stiffer penalties for failing future tests."
The rule is the same for Peppers as Foster.
|4 days 10 hours ago||This is NOT good||
It means Jabril will enter the NFL drug program as a first time offender cause the NFL views a diluted sample the same as a positive test. As Michigan4lfe accurately projects IMO this kills any chance he had at round1 IMO.
So fucking STUPID. You know you're going to get tested and you do it anyways. And please, not the place for the pro/anti pot law debate (I'm pro legalizing if anybody gives a shit). If you know your soon-to-be boss is going to test - YOU STOP SMOKING POT FOR A WHILE.
|4 days 10 hours ago||My brush with Jake||
In 2006 my brother and our whole tailgate crew went to South Bend to watch the ND game. We got a spot on somebody's lawn on the street directly accross from the stadium and down the block from "Linebackers".
About an hour after we set up a car showed up and parked next to us with a tiny Lapeer 77 in the rear windown so I asked the couple were they related to Jake. The lady said yes - we're his parents! Next thing I know Mrs Long was on the phone giving directions to somebody and was asking us for coordinates (pre-smart phone GPS) and when I asked her who else was coming she said Garret Rivas's dad (he apparently went to all the games and was hillarious - smoked a HUGE cigar the whole afternoon) and the Henne's. Needless to say this was way beyond cool to me and I asked Mrs Long (sorry cant remember her first name) if the players were going to come by after the game and she said if they could, they would.
So we have a great afternoon of kicking Irish ass, the weather was fantastic and later when we got back to our tailgate for some celebratory beers all three players showed up to say hi to their folks and we got introduced to everybody.
Oh....and on the other side of our tailgate was a guy selling smoked BBQ that would trade sandwiches for beer and the local radio station was also playing music on a remote with the BBQ guy.
It was the best road tailgate ever!

Do I like Kap sitting during the anthem? Not particlarly. Do I care a whole bunch? Not particularly. Do I understand why he feels the way he does? And Kap has a right to sit during the national anthem in protest of what he believes to be injustice. Nobody can or should force him to stand.
And NFL teams have the right to not sign him as their QB because they dont agree with his protest and/or dont want all the baggage signing him would bring. Nobody can or should force them to sign him.

He described the situation as "tragic" and said (paraphrasing here) that "no matter how hard Hernandez tried to escape his demons he was always dragged back into the gang life" which is complete and utter bullshit. There is 0.0 evidence that Hernandez tried to "escape" anything associated with thug life, rather he embraced it and ran TOWARDS it, not away.

|2 weeks 2 days ago||I'll simply this cause my point is being missed||
1. Ben took a relatively small number of snaps in 2013 and his redshirt was burned.
2. In 2014 & 2015 he would get playing time or get pulled from games for reasons he did not fully understand (I dont know if his questions were made to the position coach or the Head Coach).
3. When he asked the Head Coach why this was happening to him the Head Coach either couldnt or wouldnt give him an answer. I do know this for a fact.
4. Because he couldnt get an answer he obviously couldnt improve or get on the field enough to improve and his development was stunted for two years.
5. He was ready to transfer at the end of 2015 due to his frustrations with the Head Coach and his unwillingness or inability to tell him what he had to improve upon to stay on the field.
6. The Head Coach was terminated.
7. Ben stayed and got a lot better. Would he get even better with a 5th year? He seems to think so.
What exactly are you defending here? Hoke's communication skills?
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Probably not||
I dont lift weights with any of their high school head coaches so I wont have any idea if they are upset or not at what happened. I'll leave those updates to someone else.
FWIW I completely disagree with you that the position coaches make the redshirt/burn redshitrt decisions. That's on the HC. And his issue, with Hoke - not his position coach - was nobody could tell him why he was playing or got pulled after the game. The communication wasnt there (or at least it wasnt for Ben) and THAT, not the RS decision, is what was so upsetting to him.
He didnt get consistent, qualtity PT until last year. Sporadic playing time yes but nothing more than that amd whether you like hearing it or not it didnt make him very happy because he didnt know why.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Not going to start a whole new obit thread but....||
I didnt see anything posted yesterday about J Geils dying. While from Boston the J. Geils band was about as Detroit as anybody else actually from Detroit. RIP both of them.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||You're right he did||
As did every single other Freshman that's ever stepped foot on campus since redshirting began. But it's the HC JOB to weigh out the up and downside of saying no and deferring gratification until later. I don't know if you've noticed this or not but young people tend to be terrible at deferring small short-term gains for huge future payoffs (hence the insanely low number of 20 somethings that fund their 401K at work).
The bigger issue though wasnt really even that. It was after his RS was burned the lack of quality PT in 2014 & 15 and the randomness by which he played or didnt. That's why he was packed and ready to transfer after the 2015 season - frustration at Hoke's substitution patterns and his inability to understand what put him on the field and what made Hoke pull him off.

I spoke to Gedeon's high school coach yesterday and he was playing the "what if" game regarding Ben's potential draft status if he been able to go back to Michigan for a 5th year. Everytime I think about Hoke burning his redshirt in for a few meaningless plays in 2013 and then not giving the kid consistent playing time in 14 & 15 it makes me want to scream.
Ben will prolly get drafted in the 4th or 5th round IMO. If he was coming back as a 5th year Senior our defense would be a lot better and I think his draft status would improve as well. Same thing for Dymonte Thomas FWIW except he prolly wont get drafted at all. A few meaningless snaps in a blow-out and a whole year gone.
Lose-lose proposition. But hey...at least he and Dymonte will always have the CMU game to remember.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Domestic Violence charge = guilty until proven innocent||
Man the timing of this could not be worse for Lewis. In less than three weeks his future employer will need to make a decision on selecting him with this hanging over his head which will NOT bode well for his draft status. NFL teams are super nervous about bringing anybody on board with DM in their past and the fact that this wont get resolved before the draft is going to be a killer for him IMO.
Make no mistake - if he's guilty I dont feel sorry for him in the least. But if he's innocent the other party did the most damage to him financially they possibly could IMO.

|2 weeks 4 days ago||Five from the Rose Bowl||
1. Bo doesnt have a heart attack on the eve of the 1970 Rose Bowl. His first team, now not distracted by the heart attack suffered by their new coach, beats USC 27-10.
2. The monsoon holds off in 1972 and the Rose Bowl isnt played in a driving rainstorm for the first time in over 50 years. Michigan dominates an overmatched Standford team and wins 44-13.
3. Stan Edwards does not attempt to juggle the game tying TD pass from Leach in the 1978 Rose Bowl (eventually getting it taken off his shoulder pads at the three yard line) and Michigan comes all the way back from being down 27-0 to tie the game. Bo, ever the riverboat gambler, calls for a fake PAT which is successfull thereby giving Michigan the greatest comeback in school history.
4. Charles White is not given a gift TD by the PAC 10 ref from the three yard line and rather his TO propells Michigan to win the 1979 Rose Bowl 17-10 instead of losing by the same score.
5. The phantom holding call is not made the PAC 10 ref in the 1990 Rose Bowl thereby giving Michigan a first and goal on USC 8 yard line late in the game tied 10-10. Michigan goes on to win 17-10 sending Bo off to retirement the RIGHT way and not witht a loss.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||They DID!||
Know what else we had way, way back in the day too?
1. A football team that either won or tied for the B1G championship just about every year, beat OSU half the time and beat MSU ALL the time (let's not talk Rose Bowls though)
2. 18 year old drinking age
3. $5.00 fine for possession of less than 2 ounces of pot
4. Ability to bring ANYTHING into Michigan stadium for gameday as long as it wasnt glass (meaning we could bring kegs to the game and did)
And the real crazy STDs hadnt been invented yet so if you were unfortunately to make friends with somebody you shouldnt your neighborhood doctor could fix you right up.

Michigan baseball used to be pretty damn dominant in the B1G and we've produced some amazing MLB players through the years. My Jr & Sr years looked like this:
I went to a bunch of games those years (Dylan is right - pretty fun experience) and these guys deserve our support. They've been quietly rising, IMO, as hockey has been falling. The last four years their record has improved each year and this year has been a break-out season indeed.
And, in the relm of things that mean absolutely nothing, while I dont own a football or hockey jersey I do own a Barry Larkin MIchigan baseball jersey.
|3 weeks 10 hours ago||I have a proposal||
If a player declares himself eligible for the draft they have until their name is called to withdraw. So if you think you're a first rounder and dont get picked day 1 you can withdraw that night. Same goes for rounds 2 & 3 and then 4-6. If you make yourself eligible and you're selected your in but if you get through the day without being selected you have he option to withdraw from the next round of the draft.
Now THAT would add some intregue to the night after the round ended. Who's staying in and who's removing themselves from consideration. Might also put pressure on teams to not wait to get somebody they liked cause if they fell too far they'd pull themselves out of consideration for the next round.
|3 weeks 10 hours ago||Thank you||
And what people keep overlooking are two critical points I made yesterday:
1. That I myself dont know if it's true or not. I said, (twice) that he claims friendship and I have no way of proving it or disproving it but I also have no reason to doubt him either.
2. That he didnt say "Red is staying" or anything even close to that. I posted in a thread where the OP claimed HE had inside sources saying Red was telling all his friends he was leaving.that someone I knew hadnt heard that from him. That's a critical point that Bando and my new BFF Pepto keep missing. The OP claimed Red was telling his friends he was outta here. My friend (who claims to be Red's friend) hadn't heard that.
That's a huge difference between me making the claim he's staying or going and somehow it's gotten lost in the "OMG MGROWOLD DOESNT LIKE WARDE so everything he says must be wrong" kerffufle currently underway.
|3 weeks 12 hours ago||Hey Seth||
Just a friendly heads up. You really should include Bullets when make a list. It's a nice formatting touch and makes it easier for your readers.
|3 weeks 13 hours ago||Sure - and good question BTW||
I would've liked him to handle the situation with the officiating as Don Canham did when Michigan got screwed out of the Rose Bowl in 1973 and Bo lost his mind. Canham did not support the B1G position on the matter and 100% had Bo's back - even as the media and the rest of the B1G wanted Bo to stop talking about it. Canham didnt give two shits about what the rest of the conference thought about him - he was always Michigan and Bo first - everything else be damned.
And in regards to the PSU situation I would want him out in front of the media - loud and proud - stating the case that Michigan not PSU, deserved to go the Rose Bowl based on our 49-10 destruction of them. That the only reason we didnt play in the championship game was due to officiating malpractice - not the team getting beat - and if the B1G wants to do what's right they'd send us, not PSU out west. Basically exactly what Florida did to us back in 2006 when we got hipchecked out of the NCG we should've been in.
|3 weeks 13 hours ago||I posted his personal relationship yesterday in the Red thread||
And I was referencing in my post above the grief I took for it, mostly from my dear old freind Bando who simply cannot believe that two people, of roughly the same age and working in the same sport in the same area for many, many years could possibly have a personal relationship - what with one being a club coach and all. But that's more a result of Bando's dislike of me on a personal level than his actually not believing it IMO.
I will say give credit where credit is due however. In my 57 years on the planet I've never been called "a can of miserable gasoline" or had my opinions classified as as "ill-conceived dimestore takes that are an embarrasment to Michigan's fan base." Not even Bando has launched those salvos (although I'm sure he's thought it many times)
I mean....how thin-skinned would a person have to be to take offense at that?
|3 weeks 14 hours ago||The Dearborn coach||
In your zeal to try and refute any and everything I've posted on this subject did you happen to see the part where I said he claimed to be FRIENDS with Red? That he's in his early 70's and has coached in the Metro Detroit area all his life? And that I have no way of verifying this to be factual but also no reason to doubt him either?
It's amazing. I referenced his status as an assistant coach only to demonstrate what the guy does - not that the assistants at Dearborn have a pipeline of information to AA. His relationship (allegedly) is PERSONAL.
You've locked in on the Dearborn situation and are completely ignoring the part where he actualy might know something. But hey, it's unpleasant news so it's got to false right?
|3 weeks 14 hours ago||I dont want to rehash this topic BUT it's more than a night game||
1. No evidence that he's trying to change the football schedule problem anytime soon.
2. Did not support Harbaugh after the OSU game and in fact, supported the B1G instead.
3. Did not lobby for M to go to Rose Bowl instead of PSU (See Florida 2006 for an example of how this works)
4. Postponed hockey replacement search (allegedly) cause he was too busy moving into new house to tackle that last year
5. Does not appear to be willing (so far) to force Red's hand and demand retirement. But - I have said, if he does my opinion of him will change dramatically. Please note this.
The refusal to add a night game is also an issue for me but not the #1 issue by any means.

"The guy" has been coaching his whole life in the Detroit area, is closer to Red's age than 90% of the board and claims (although I have no evidence to support this) to be his friend.
That's all I know. He's a neighbor of mine during the summer on the islands. Maybe he's completely full of shit and has never spoken to Red in his life, what with him being a coach for a club program and all. I truly dont know.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Gee i dont know||
I guess I naively thought the hockey coaches, EVEN THOSE FROM A DIFFERENT CAMPUS talked to one another from time to time. Guess not.
Carry on then - you've refuted my clearly non-qualified source of potential information.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Two big words there "if true"||
FWIW I have a good friend who's an assistant hockey coach at UM Dearborn. I just sent him an email asking if he's heard anything new regarding Red's status and he said no - nothing new on that front that's he aware of. So there's that.
Not saying the OP isnt accurate cause maybe Red is telling people the OP knows personally but the guy I know personally who's connected to the program hasnt heard that news yet.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||criticism of Manuel||
|3 weeks 2 days ago||So...||
Why did UMBig11 switch from here to TTB? I find that more interesting than the spring ball update to be honest. And it seems like my old friend readyourguard moved too?
|3 weeks 2 days ago||LOL||
Yeah right. A lot of people may have thought it but I can tell you not a lot of people were saying it. And 95% of the board it seemed didnt like me posting it - especially when I referenced our past failures in Iowa and particularly under the lights cause "the past means nothing" according to many people around here.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||Except for one thing||
When I wrote the post the votes were 0 up and 4 down. I was the first one to upvote the thread.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||OP downvotes = hive doesnt like bad news||
I love it. The OP, a poster that generates relevant & usefull content on a fairly consistent basis, is being downvoted for bringing unpleasant news to the board. What's even funnier (to me anyways) is that he says in the post itself "I would think that both have lottery potential with a strong campaign next year so it will be interesting to see how this decision plays out" so he clearly is NOT suggesting they should do so but is still downvoted for having the audacity to bring unpleasnt news here.
I know just how he feels. This year I made two predictions during football season that were roundly mocked and downvoted. #1 - that the MSU game would be closer than predicted (it was) and that we stood a very good chance of losing a night game at Iowa (we did). God forbid anybody says anything that isnt all roses and ice cream sunday's.
Sorry Michigan Man 14 - you being the messenger meant you needed to be shot. Nothing personal.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||True||
And several million dollars richer if mocks are accurate
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Jim Price story||
Back in 1968 Jim Price was a patient of my late father the dentist. In the middle of the season I got to go to dinner with Price, Denny Motherfucking McClain and my dad (I was 9) and got a baseball afterwards signed by Denny that said "best wishes to Donnie from your pal Denny McLain." To say I was a God at Webster Elementary (Pontiac) 4th grade would be an understatement. I dont know what happened to that ball but my guess it became less important to me following all of Denny's troubles but let me tell you, in the summer of 68 there wasnt a bigger personality on the planet than McClain on his way to 31 wins.
After the season ended and the Tigers won the World Series Price got a baseball signed by ALL the Tigers and gave it to my dad to give to me. I still have it and to this day it's my most treasured piece of memorablia I own.

Awesome, awesome story. Thanks for sharing it.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Fast car/slow car||
1. Fastest 1/4 mile: 1965 Burgandy 389 Tri-power GTO with a 4:11 rear end and four speed. Could almost get the front end off the ground and you dropped the clutch at about 5K RPM and had to shift out of first at about 25 MPH. Car would literally overheat if you drove it on the expressway at 65 for more than about 15 minutes. My 8 year old daughter once said "daddy I dont like riding in that car. It hurts my neck (when I would shift gears).
2. Fastest top end: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V. Pearl white and supercharged. Car had a power band from about 50-150 that literally made me hold on to the steering wheel for dear life. Loved it when somebody would roll up in a new Challenger or some other MOPAR muscle and want to race cause I'd crush them from a 30 roll on. Allegedly the car could do over 200 but my brain is bigger than my balls so I never got it above 160 but I can tell you the car was still accelerating strongly at that number. I just couldnt see anything I was going so fast.
3. Slowest car: 1980 Powder Blue 4 door Chevy Citation. What the Citatiion lacked in acceleration it made up for in ugly. Car was easily the biggest piece of shit I've ever owned or hope to own. Slow and not well put together. And did I mention it was ugly?
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Must've been the way I wrote it||
When I said Warde was gutless and afraid I got downvoted to hell and back. You say it and it's 32-0 supporting the concept.
Of course you said it after glorious leader wrote a pretty damning piece on Red and I said it in the midst of the Red appreciation thread so timing is everything.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Well.....||
If this report is true (that Red wants to come back) I guess Manual will settle the debate himself now won't he?
And just wondering - IF Red wants to come back and Manual allows it will that change your opinion of him any? Cause I will say it here and now that Red wants to come back and Manual doesnt let him it will sure change mine.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||I'm not surprised||
This is EXACTLY what I said would happen after I read his comments after the last game of the season. Now of course I was slammed cause I had the temerity of saying so in the middle of the Red appreciation thread but still....
|3 weeks 5 days ago||Respectfully disagree||
You've been around long enough to remember the dark year (or two) when downvoting went away. The term "shit post" was coined during that period and the board was littered with one nonsensical and stupid post after another. The "tribe" had no way of keeping order via downvotes and the mods had to do it all. Remember how much fun that was?
Of course it's only a blog and of course the negs dont "matter" in the real world but in our little on-line community they kinda do. It's the one and only method we have to enforce street justice without the mods and it's pretty damn effective if you ask me.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||Good call on your part||
I think if more increadibly stupid posts like that one were left up and not taken down so quickly we might, just might, have fewer of them. I know there are some that have to get pulled immediately for obvious reasons but ones like this one should be allowed to stand so the OP can enjoy all the fruits of his posting labor.
Hell I didnt even see it yesterday and it wasnt until this post that I went and looked it up just so I could downvote it.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||Not one bit-100% speculation on my part||
And to be perfecty honest I dont know if I would even believe the story if someone else posted it so I totally get your question. But I did witness something firsthand, not terribly long ago in a part of the country not terribly unlike where this happened and that made me question whether this was just "fandom gone wrong". Especially when I noticed there wasnt another black person in that bar other than Watson and his friends.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||Had to take a dump last night||
And read this manifesto a few moments after it was posted. Figured it would be gone by moirning.
I figured wrong.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||It may be something else||
Look at the rest of the patrons of the bar in the video-notice anything about them compared to Watson and his friends?
|4 weeks 3 days ago||I dont think Red is going anywhere||
Go back and read his post-game comments after our last game of the season. That did NOT read like a man who wants to step down and no way Warde will take him out.
He coming back.
|5 weeks 11 hours ago||Officiating was.....good?||
Might be a first for me personally but coming from somebody who ALWAYS bitches about the officials after a Michigan loss I didnt see anything last night that bothered me. Didnt yell at the TV once and never even got to do my impersonation of the announcer calling yet another brutal, one-sided, unfair call after another against my beloved Michigan Wolverines. I think M got a fair whistle and the disparity in calls was more a result of the style of play of the two teams than anything else.
My wife asked me almost immediately after the game ended "well....what do you think?" My response was "didnt play our best game but had a shot at the end and it didnt go down - oh well." I wasnt mad and I certainly wasnt dissapointed in either our effort or the refs.
This is kinda wierd to be honest.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||Marshall||
Yes he may end up spending the rest of his career at Wichita State but it wont be because of their conference affiliation.
It will be because of this IMO
|5 weeks 3 days ago||um....no he didnt||
I got no dog in a Pistons-Nets grudge match but I just watched the highlights and he most definitely didn't travel. Now.....did he double dribble? That I cant really tell but if you watch the highlight and wait for the final camera angle you'll see he does dribble twice (both are hard to see -the second dribble especially hard to see) but it does look to me like he might've grabbed the ball with both hands on the second dribble.
Why am I spending so much time analysing the end game calls for a shit game with two shit teams? Now that's a completely different question......
|5 weeks 3 days ago||Beg to differ||
With God-awful QB coaching last year and a supporting cast second only to my Browns for sheer awfullness here were Kaps stats last year
QB rating 90.7
Seems pretty good to me. Shit, I'd take him here in Cleveland all day long over any of the three QBs in the draft or even the future hall of famer Jimmy Garrapolo but sadly he's poison right now so my guess is he's going to have a hard time finding an owner willing to face the fan (and Presidential) backlash that will come with signing him.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||Not hard?||
It's ridiculously easy. I take my boat over to Pele Island about two-three times a summer to visit their winery and listen to music. When I arrive in Canada I call somebody on the phone in Toronto and read to them my passport information and give them my boat registration number. They ask me how many people on board and if I've got passengers without passports I lie and give them a lower number.
When I return to the states I again call a number and because I've got a GOES card (I've been vetted for international travel) all I do is tell them I'm home and confirm the boat registration. I could have 100 angry terrrorists on board and nobody would ever know.

|5 weeks 3 days ago||Burke vs Walton vs Morris||
Walton has thicker and stronger body. Will hold up better in the more physical NBA Plays better D. Not a great handle, not a great outside shot.
Burke has a better handle, better outside shot and can create own shot if needed. Weak defensively.
To me Burke is the far better player and he's struggling to stick in the NBA. Walton's game is more Darius Morris than Trey Burke and we all know how Morris worked out in the bigs.
|5 weeks 4 days ago||Meanwhile down in Cleveland....||
Lots and lots of optimism for the Tribe down here. Starting pitching is absolutely loaded with Kluber, Carrasco, Salazar Bauer and Tomlin. And bullpen looks solid as hell with Shaw, Miller & Allen. Add in Encarnacion (people here still cant believe Dolan shelled out the money to sign him) and it's World Series or bust for Chief Wahoo.

|5 weeks 5 days ago||I'm sorry but this thread is just WRONG!||
Michigan State players are fellow Michiganders and they played Kansas hard despite their youth and unfavorable draw. They are extremely well coached and I was rooting for them to win to uphold the conference banner. We shouldnt mock them - we should respect and honor them for an outstanding game and outstanding season. Job well done Sparty - well done!
|5 weeks 5 days ago||I dont like these posts at ALL||
Whether you agree or disagree on Stringer's position on Beilein he's allowed to have it and shouldnt have to defend himself in a thread created solely for "calling him out". The point of a board like this (I thought) was to express different opinions and ideas - not to just march lockstep in groupthink supporting all things MIchigan. Stringer has always been respectful and given good board input and doesnt deserve this one bit and he's definitely entitled to not like Beilein even if the recent results indicate otherwise.
It's crap IMO and the mods should take it down.

But did YOU know in the original aired pilot the robot was programmed by Dr. Smith to destroy the Jupiter and because Dr. Smith miscalculated his escape and got stuck on board he was was able to stop him (although he did throw the ship off course hence the name "Lost in Space". The pilot episode was not made available to syndication so most people have never seen it unless you remember when it first aired OR you bought the boxed set when they began selling the series to the general public.
AND did you know there was actually a second, unaired pilot episode that was much, much darker than the one they ulitmately ran? In that episode the Robinsons crash on a desolate planet and the storylines were planned to go far less "camp" and far more serious/dark? CBS felt that was too "edgy" for the time so they went with the lighter, more comedic version of the series. That pilot was only recently discoverd and was never aired.

It's not that they dont understand it, it's that they totally reject it as a basis for selection and seeding. They place tremendous emphasis, it would seem, on the some subjective evaluation tool of them all - the "eye test" and reject anything that places emphasis on metrics beyond that which they can see.
I've got to believe there are people in that room that DO understand math and want to use all the available tools at their disposal but are over-ruled by the old farts who just got used to using the RPI instead of the AP poll for selection.
|6 weeks 2 days ago||93-96? How about the 70's||
How bout 1970-1979? Our football team was perenially ranked in the top 5 each year and always came up just a bit short. Our bowl record under Bo by the 1980 season would've been 0-7 and he was getting torched by experts claiming the game had left him behind.
For every one "Fire Beilein" thread created my guess is there would've been five "Fire Bo". We didnt have a social media platform or internet available to share our feelings. But we sure bitched a lot to our friends about it. Trust me - as much as we all look back at the Bo era now as the good ol days - back when we were living them it was every bit as frustrating as the BBall team has been and for much of the same reasons.

|6 weeks 4 days ago||Maybe||
But if Spanier pleads out too doesnt that means that none of them will have to answer even one question under oath on what people knew and when they knew it? That's what bothers me the most on this - did people really know back in the 70's about Sandusky and covered it up for over 30 years? Would one of the testify as to St. Joepa's level of understanding regarding his friend Jerry through the years?
Unless Spanier goes to trial nobody will ever have to answer that question and about 1,000 more just like it.
|6 weeks 4 days ago||We just won our first B1G conference tourny since 1998||
After surviving a plane crash and we're going to the dance as a 7 seed and you're asking do we consider the season a success already?
|6 weeks 4 days ago||Seeding a joke||
Two things were apparent to me this year regarding seeding:
1. Confernce tournament wins meant zilch. It was as if the committee did the seeding pre-tournaments and then anything that happened aferwards was ignored.
2. RPI is king with these bozos. It's better to schedule tough teams and get drilled by them (see State, Michigan) than beat easier opponents in the RPI ratings so somehow MSU is consdered the 35th best team in the land with their 14 losses.
Michigan, Wisconsin, Cinci and others got screwed over but not because they are malicious IMO, it's because they're stupid old men who don't understand anything more complex than a deeply flawed ranking system and don't care to learn.
|6 weeks 5 days ago||Bingo||
Back in the 70's we had Northwestern for the annual auto-win in football and basketball but those bastards decided to be good at stuff so we needed to replace them with somebody just as horrible as they used to be.
|6 weeks 5 days ago||Standby generator story||
Back in 2005 or 06 there was a huge power outage that effected much of the midwest for several weeks. My company at the time ran an outbound call center in Twinsburg, Ohio and we were literally two blocks on the right side of the outage so we maintained power as much of the midwest was out. Meaning we stayed in business but if not for those two blocks we would've have been in real financial trouble as I dont think we could've susained two weeks down very well.
So the next year we moved to a brand new building in Solon and one of the things we decided to invest in was back up power. We spent over $50,000 getting a state of the art generator installed and had it such that your computer wouldnt even go down if power went out - less than a one second delay was set up. Tested it several times and it worked fantastic.
So we're in our new facility for about 2 weeks when the first big electric storm of the summer rolled in and shortly after it started we heard this loud BANG and then power goes completely dead. We're scrambling trying to figure out what the hell happened and why the generator didnt kick in as planned when one of my partners starts yelling "look at this...you gotta see this" so we go to his window and look at the smoldering remains of our $50,000 generator.
Lightning had struck the generator. I mean you cant make this stuff up - lightning struck our new generator and cooked it. Moral of the story is akk the back-up plans in the world cant overcome God/fate/karma - they remain undefeated.
|6 weeks 5 days ago||Exact same comment & draft hope||
But different team (Browns). Defense is SO deep in this year's draft as long as teams dont overthink things and just go "best available" anybody with multiple picks (and God do we have mulitiple picks) can load up on D this year.
And we beefed up our O line through FA too.
|6 weeks 5 days ago||Agree 100%||

I honestly believe at this point they could go winless in a season and then MAYBE they'd be relagated to the play in games. Maybe. They have 14 losses and have lost three of their last four games yet still locked in somehow.

If yelling "you ruined the program" is now considered "completely out of line" i don't even want to think about what some of the thing's I've yelled through the years at games would be thought of. Especially since I'm a Browns season ticket holder.
|7 weeks 8 hours ago||Maybe.....||
But at 19-14 they are really going to have to think about it before giving them a slot. Not certain but cant remember too many at-large berths going to teams with 14 losses before.
But then again it IS Izzo so........
|7 weeks 8 hours ago||Yup||
And when this season ends, hopefully a long time from now, IMO the MVP is easy. Maverick Morgan. When that dude called the team "white collar" he definitely woke something up inside them. Say what you will but this has been a completely different team since then.
He called them out and they've responded. It's awesome.

|7 weeks 1 day ago||Wanna rethink that post?||
Clevleand got, didnt give, the 2nd round pick. In exchange for taking the contract off the books we also got a 2nd rounder.
Texan gave up Brock AND a 2nd round pick. And we'll prolly cut him.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||Now dont you start in on me||
I've been getting beat up all day over my feelings about our AD. I ran over to this thread so I can take solice in the fact that for the first time I can remember we're not being laughed at - we're being admired for creativity and our approach.
BTW - just saw a tweet from a Browns insider that said "we aint seen shit yet. Browns have something crazy going on behind the scenes. I'm not sure what it is yet but it's going to be unreal."
|7 weeks 1 day ago||I dont think you guys get it-it's brilliant||
This is an "NBA" trade where we basically just bought a 2nd round pick from the Texans. I doubt Brock ever even suits up for the Browns - we can cut him and take a 10MM cap hit but once we cut RGIII we take 7MM off the books so basically it's going to cost us 3MM for that 2nd rounder.
This year we have two 1st and two 2s. Next year we have 1 1st and 3 2s. We have enough draft capital to go after any QB we want (Garrapolo or Cousins) and we also put together a hell of an o line today in FA.
The boys from Harvard were mocked by the NFL old guard last year. Now they're calling this the most creative trade the NFL has ever seen. Nobody's laughing at us now.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||You guys really need to read what's being said EVERYWHERE||
After this trade Cleveland has 2 1s and 2 2s this year and 1 first rounder and 3 2nd rounders next year. We have enough ammo to get Garret at #1 and then go after either Garrapolo OR Cousins.
Nobody in the NFL is laughing at the Browns right now for what they're doing today.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||Ha ha nothing - it's fucking brilliant||
The Browns just "bought" the Texan's second round pick next year. We can cut him, absorb a very minimal cap hit against our number, and we still have the pick. This is an "NBA-type" trade where one team takes another contract off the books. And he instantly becomes the best QB we have on the roster.
Read Adam Schefter's facebook post on it. He said it might be the most creative trade in NFL history and he's calling the Bowns brilliant.
We are absolutely killing it today.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||I've been sharing it all day-look at the post above||
But clearly posting such heresy in the Warde Manuel appreciation thread was not the time nor the place to express displeasure with anything he may have done or not done.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||It must be||
Cause as I posted in a different thread my issues with Manual didnt start today. Tell me which one of the things below arent factually accurate:
1. We had no home football night game in 2016 because of Manual
2. We have an aging hockey coach who would've like to retire last year because of Manual
3. Manul did not support Harbaugh when he went off on the OSU officials and in fact, supported the B1G's official position that the matter was closed.
4. Manual made no public effort to sway sentiment in our favor for a Rose Bowl berth over the team we beat 49-10.
Those are the things I didnt like about the guy before today. Not that I think you care that much but if you were to look you'd see I posted my complaints about him on each of those issues at the time. And none of us know if he had anything to do with the B1G's decision to give us control over gametime although it's clear in this thread he's going to get credit for it.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||I'm right here||
Doesnt change how I feel about Manual. It only changes how I feel about Delaney and that he isnt completely incompetent. Was watching game - not board.
I still think our AD is a gutless coward. Do you guys honestly think today is the only reason I thought that?
|7 weeks 1 day ago||Ok||
1. Decided to not have a football home night game in 2016
2. Decided to not replace our aging hockey HC who wanted to retire
3. Decided to publically support the B1G and their stand on the officiating in the OSU game instead of Harbaugh
4. Stayed quiet and did not lobby on the football team's behalf when the bowl committee was deciding to send either Michigan or PSU to the Rose Bowl
5.. Decided to say nothing about the 12:20 tip despite everything our team has gone through over the past 24 hours
Your turn. Now the accomplishments:
|7 weeks 1 day ago||A couple of people?||
If that's the case I'm clearly wrong about Warde. Help educate me then because clearly i've been blind to his leadership qualities that the vast, vast majority of everyone else sees.
Can you provide for me a short list of Warde's accomplishment's over the past year in your opinion? Clearly he must be doing things I hadnt noticed to make you (and everyone else) so strongly supportive of him.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||Winning or losing this game has zero impact on my feelings||
I think Warde is a gutless coward who's more worried about how he's perceived by Jim Delaney than he is by Michigan alumni. And I will continue to think he's a gutless coward worried more about how he's percieved by Jim Delaney than Michigan alumni if we win or if we lose.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||What could he do?||
He could say something on behalf of the team he allegedly represents asking for help. I dont give two shits about the other 7 schools - I care about Michigan and while Warde may be more concerned about being fair to everyone else I'm not. I dont like seeing MY school get screwed over.
I get that you love Warde and his style of whatever it is he does. I dont. I prefer an AD like the one I grew up Don Canham who was always Michigan, not conference, first, last and always.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||12:20 tip off||
See the B1G finally did come through for us. Now we'll have time to change out of street clothes prior to the game.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||Unreal||
I cant imagine the conference doing this to Rutgers, much less us.
But I guess when you've got a history of taking whatever shit is shoved your way and smiling while it's getting dumped on you people just figure you'll always take just a little bit more without fighting back.
God do I miss Don Canham. You guys (well those of you under 50 at least) cant even begin to imagine what would be occuring right now if an AD with actual pair of testicles was still in charge.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||Brian's comments||
"Delaney has always been a weak, spineless "leader" who will never show any genuine leadership or take meaningful action on anything......"
You sure he said Delaney? Sounds an awful lot like Manual to me.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||Team stuck in traffic and not there yet||
I eagerly await our brave AD standing up to the B1G on this one and letting everyone know what incredible BULLSHIT this is for our team. I'm sure he's going to unload with both barrels in a press conference on just how wrong this is and that the game time MUST be changed or we're not playing.
Oh wait - no I'm not. I actually expect him to issue a formal apology on M's behalf for being such poor travel planners and not getting their on-time like evreyone else.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||Where is Bronx Blue?||
This thread was posted during his defense last night of Manual saying nothing and doing nothing regarding our basketball team getting screwed with a noon tip today. Why isnt he here in this thread defending Manual again doing nothing?
I mean I do understand that no company expects somebody to actually start doing their job within several months of relocating so it's understandable he'd decide to do nothing.
To me Manual is the anti-Hackett. Afraid to stand up for Michigan and afraid to make decisions.
|7 weeks 1 day ago||Why?||
I guess same reason people equate doing absolutely nothing with the presumption of gobs of behind the scenes activity. You have consistently defended Manual's inaction as someone being proof that he's taking a quiet more diplomatic approach to situations but what exactly leads you to that conclusion? What evidence do you have that he's doing ANYTHING on our behalf other than the fact he's drawing a nice paycheck so the assumption is he simply MUST be working hard.
Here's what I know to be true.
1. We have both our biggest rivals at home and away the same years. While certainly not his fault Manual has said nothing publically that indicates this is even a problem for us and no action has been taken or even discused by the B1G in fixing it.
2. The officiating for the OSU was suspect at best, downright criminal at worst. Officialls with ties to both Ohio and OSU itself were selected and calls were so one-sided (and even invented per the "technical foul" called on Harbaugh) that our coach lost his mind afterwards. Manual, in fact, squelched the discussion early by saying in essence "we support the B1G" and stopped Harbaugh from speaking out on the subject.
3. When time came for the bowl committee to decide rankings and bolw pairings Manual was absolutely silent on the issue and said nothing to support Michigan being selected over a team they beat 49-10 so PSU went to the Rose Bowl and Michigan went to the Orange Bowl.
4. We have a fucking plane crash for god's sake and Manual's statement does nothing to addrees the extreme time pressure our team will be under to just get to the game today, much less have suffiicient time to warm up and prepare mentally. I dont know if you watched Mike & Mike this morning but a reference was made to the situation and the noon tip today and they said "boy, the B1G is doing Michigan no favors with that one." And yet our AD says nothing, does nothing to call attention to the situation other than to issue a statement saying we're making alternative travel arrangements.
Try to imagine any of the above situations happening in East Lansing or Columbus and the AD sitting silent on the issue. I certainly cannot - their heads would explode and the whole world would know about it.
So does yelling work? I couldnt tell you - Warde's afraid to try it. What I do know is sitting quietly and hoping that a conference that is full of schools terribly jelous and resentful of our schools's success will play nice with us sure as hell isn't working.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||Not pissing Harbaugh off?||
Like when he had Jim's back after the OSU game when Harbaugh called out the officiating and our Charman-soft AD sided with the B1G?
|7 weeks 2 days ago||This hits close to home||
Our CEO told my this week that his daughter was treated by Nassar for several years and knew him somewhat personally because of that. They would travel up from Cleveland to be seen by him as she was a ballerina and they frequently suffer the same injuries gymnast's do.
He said to the best of his knowledge his daughter was never harmed by him (in fact he said what an amazing doctor he was in helping her) but clearly you can tell he's more than a bit shook up by the news. I had no idea there was a connection until then.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||Manny can definitely score the basketball||
Sadly he cant play defense for beans so he's pretty limited in what he can do. And speaking of Michigan basketball players who left college a wee bit too soon has anybody caught any games featuring the Rio Grande Valley Vipers lately? Cause that's where Darius Morris has been playing the past couple of years.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||Nice first post HappyHatter||
|7 weeks 2 days ago||No shit||
I just got a marine warning on my phone that there is dangerously low water levels on Lake Erie as the wind has dropped the water depth 3-5 feet due to the strong offshore wind pushing the lakewater west. Check out this live cam from the lighthouse on South Bass island. Glad I'm not in a boat in this!
|7 weeks 2 days ago||A noon conference tournament game??????||
Thanks a lot
Just to be clear cause I'm a bit confused on this one. We're upset cause ticket prices are too cheap and therefore the commissioner should be fired? Do I have that right? I'm guessing the OP hasnt had the honor of watching too many early round conference games cause they are ALL empty seats watching the game, not just in the B1G.
Hell - watch a few of the early actual NCAA tournament games (noon tip) and you'll see the same damn thing. The games are timed for TV audiences and to minimize game overlap - not for increased actual attendance.
|7 weeks 3 days ago||There are some theads||
You dont even have to open up to know who created them. Talking Cars Tuesday is Jeepin Ben, Michigan Monday from the Ozone is Steven R and if the thread has anything related to Michigan gear (especially shoes) it will always be that notorious AD slayer WD.
|7 weeks 3 days ago||Granted I'm in Ohio and not as tuned in as you guys are here but||
Is there an inference from this post that this information was sat on until signing day was behind them? I'm not sure I'm buying that.
My guess is they (as in Blackwell allegedly) were hoping the whole thing would just "go away". I'd be surprised if signing day played any role in their decision at all. And the police have the information on January 17th so it's not like MSU has any real control of the situation at that point do they?
FWIW - seems to me like things are moving pretty fast over there once they got Blackwell out of the picture.
|7 weeks 3 days ago||Very nice||
I actually proposed to my wife at the last table to the left in this picture. The artist took famous scenes from the past and superimposed them upon the present day. This was the great Chargrin River fllood of 1913 (no I wasnt alive then).
|7 weeks 3 days ago||Nice story||
Where did you grow up Benoit?
And my first time was somewhat similar (but a lot shorter). I grew up at 125 Ottawa Dr, Pontiac and we had a detached two car garage behind the house. When I was 14 my dad let me drive the car out (a 1973 powder blue Pontiac Granville) and park it next to the house.
Basically back then kids were human remote controls - "hey, change the channel to X" and human automatic starters for cars.
|7 weeks 3 days ago||"We can never make fun of Sparty again?"||
My point was that MSU has so much stuff to make fun of them about it seems pretty stupid to choose the one thing we experienced first hand ourselves.
|7 weeks 3 days ago||Ha ha Sparty lost to a small school they shouldnt have||
God I'm so glad that has never happened here. It would be terribly embarrassing now wouldnt it?
|7 weeks 4 days ago||WD just read this and......||
|7 weeks 4 days ago||I have a question||
"...play teams ranked 300+. Graham Couch's argument is "if the NCAA puts MSU in the NIT, MSU should throw a fit... and put themselves in it." I can't let this zinger languish on Slack:
By and for juggaloes."
If you insult someone and they either dont understand it or think it's a compliment does it still count as an insult?
|7 weeks 5 days ago||Disagree||
There was a better than 50-50 chance he'd fall out based on every mock I've seen so far and with this time I wouldn't bet too much on round 1.
|7 weeks 5 days ago||"Nobody outside of Cleveland wants to trade places with Lions"||
Nawwww. We're good.
|8 weeks 8 hours ago||HOW DARE HE!||
I am always amused at people who worry about what somebody else makes. To me anyways, a person is worth EXACTLY what somebody else is willing to pay them to come to work - not a penny more or a penny less. Are move stars "worth" 10s of millions of dollars per movie? Yes - cause somebody is willing to pay it. Are baseball players "worth" 25MM a year to hit 240? Yes - cause somebody is willing to pay it. And is Brady Hoke "worth" 500K per year to coach D Lineman? Yes - cause Tennessee was willing to pay it.
Unless Brady went into the negotiations with a gun and not a pen I say good for him. He got exactly what he was worth.
|8 weeks 8 hours ago||I know I'm in the minority here but.....||
I've been saying I dont see Smith getting drafted due to his speed or lack thereof. Him not running today confirms for me he knows the time would be pretty bad so he's going to run it at Michigan's pro day where he'll presumably time better. Everybody else seems to think Smith is going middle rounds but I just dont see it.
Also, I sure hope Peppers times out well. At 5'10 his size is going to work against him that's for sure.
|8 weeks 1 day ago||Hmmm.....||
Didnt we play a basketball game last night? I could've sworn we played a basketball game last night.
Crazy ending? We came out on the wrong end of it? Help me here - am I mixing up last night for a different night?
|8 weeks 1 day ago||This is awesome||
Now THIS is the way we use to be treated by others back in the good old days. Jelous, angry, resentful, saying shit about us that wasnt true because they were so envious of our success.
Things are back to normal. Love it.
|8 weeks 2 days ago||I'm so sorry Cali||
I lost my sister Anne (U of M class of 69) to the damn disease last year. It's horrible. Fuck Cancer indeed
|8 weeks 2 days ago||It's basketball night at my house||
Michigan v Northwestern at 7 and then Cavs v Boston at 8. Both should be really good games so I'm def looking forward to it.
|8 weeks 2 days ago||What Super Bowl ya got?||
I'm 57. It'll have to be before I turn 70 and cant enjoy it anymore.
|8 weeks 2 days ago||I'm a Browns fan||
For a Super Bowl win I'd trade all four of my kids, my cats and would toss in the boat.
Again though - I thought the discussion was around draft busts. Desmond was the #4 pick in the draft and here are his recieving stats. 123 catches TOTAL in 10 years and only one year over 700 yards. Not very pretty if you ask me.
|8 weeks 2 days ago||Yes serious||
Do you honestly think one game a career makes? Even a Super Bowl MVP type game.
