- Played guard for Michigan (was a captain), so he'd fit the hole left by Jordan's departure
- Just left the staff to pursue coaching, so he's intimately familiar with the program and the culture
- Is originally from St. Clair Shores, so he'd be familiar with the recruiting territory

But why would someone from Ohio apply to both UM and OSU if tuition is ultimately the deciding factor? It isn't as if someone rejected by OSU would in turn be accepted by UM. And I don't really mean that to sound elitist -- it just doesn't make sense given OSU's stated commitment to the "people of Ohio". It would be interesting to read how the question of preference is written.

Hilarious on multiple levels!

Although MAAR and Dawkins aren't considered blue chips, wouldn't you consider Kam Chatman and DJ Wilson on a similar level as Mitch, GR3, and Nik? With Teske kicking off the '16 class, I think it's too early to say that there's been a falloff in recruiting.

I blame Adidas. We should switch to Nike so that it can say "Just Do It" there instead.

Oh, now I see the parallel: The ROTC gets weapons training; McGary is a weapon. Just look at his guns!

Congrats on the upgrade to a Milwaukee accent! It must be a relief to have put such distance between you and your grating Michigan drawl. :)

Is this actually original reporting or is the Freep simply generating clicks by summarizing the 60 Minutes Sports piece that aired on February 27th?

Good get. Luther Van Dam was a solid defensive coordinator for the Minnesota State Screaming Eagles in the early 90s. I wonder if Dauber is the next hire...

What became of the StubHub analysis? Are you continuing to track this year against dynamic pricing?

Credit for putting together the uncanny photo comparo goes to @trUFERblue on The Victors board:
As he posted: "794 games and nearly 73 years apart, with no player having worn that jersey in between those two shots. (as an aside, according to the Bentley Library's roster database, Harmon is the only other player to have *ever* worn 98 for Michigan)"

He's with something called recruitrecon.com and he's only ever made 8 predictions... Not very credible I would say. In fact, he probably got his tip from this board.

...perhaps Hoke's quote is motivation for them to try to change the field dimensions instead. "We'll show him 100 yards...!!!"

Or is that Urban Meyer's recruiting pitch?

Travis Conlan as a candidate seems to make several degrees of natural sense to me:
Quote from Beilein: "Travis was born to coach."

Harbaugh probably never turned down the Michigan job at all. Dave Brandon likely found out that Harbaugh changed his mind about taking the job in a 'Niners press release.
The dude is a mercenary and only preaches ethics when it suits him. Bo would be pissed.

Steven Pinker charts the decline of violence from Biblical times to the present, and argues that, though it may seem illogical and even obscene, given Iraq and Darfur, we are living in the most peaceful time in our species' existence.

People in Berkeley and Cambridge don't eat sushi either!
In Berkeley, they only eat tofu and alfalfa sprouts. In Cambridge, people only eat baked beans and clam chowder.
In Ann Arbor, we prefer coneys over meat and potatoes -- those dishes are really the fare of people who live in Texas and Idaho. And our coneys are different from those of our Midwestern bretheren. In Cincinnati, they're even a different size!
Of course, if you want sushi, you have to go to Japan.

I'm getting tired of these disappointing 11-2 seasons. And the 884-308-36 overall record...pathetic. I would just like to start seeing some significant wins! If we beat Notre Dame, Nebraska, and Ohio State, then win a BCS bowl game, maybe I'll be satisfied. But, probably not.

...was actually 'Sheed's emphatic response to a postgame interview question about the Flyers playoff win that same night. Stoney and Wojo spent about a week trying to figure out what the hell he was saying.
Crossover sportsfan: yet another reason to love him.

Next time you're going to make an accusation, post a link. I'm not saying Woodson told the truth, but I wouldn't just rely on heresay you read on Bucknuts.

I love it, Ricky Bobby! I love it.

I believe it was Brian who was grilling Snyder.
The two engaged in conversation were off camera, but Snyder was close enough to the mic to be hear responding in an irate manner that he wouldn't answer any questions from
On camera, were two other journalists who, judging by their age, I presume were from the Daily. As Snyder went off on his little hissy-fit, the two guys looked at each other with the type of raised eyebrows one would make while watching a child throw a tantrum.
Just before the camera cut off, Brian entered the frame and was intercepted by the two Daily reporters who wanted to shake his hand.
I can't wait to hear Brian's report.
