Although it makes you wonder that he felt comfortable enough tweeting this... I would think there's a decent chance that this is the shared view among the FSU coaching staff.

I'm with you - I hate complaining about refs but that line got crossed in an egregious manner in this game. I am in the minority, however, that the spot itself was unconscionable. I thought it was unfavorable to us but within reason. The holding committed by the OSU o-line and secondary, none of which were ever called (reminder: 6 yards total were called on OSU) are the ones that get to me. And, even though it did not impact the game, the unsportsmanlike that was called on Harbaugh was shocking. You never ever see that for a thrown play sheet. Not even a warning? Just gutless by the refs.
|21 weeks 3 days ago||You are correct that we could||
You are correct that we could have won the game despite horrendous officiating but is that an intelligent standard? That is true in 100% of games between two good teams. So, officials always get a pass in those games?
Look, for what it's worth, I can't recall looking to officiating as a material influence in the outcome of our games. The calls tend to even out enough.
In this game, it affected the outcome. They called 59 yards of penalties on us and 6 yards on OSU, and that doesn't obviously include the non-calls on OSU. Let that sink in.

Put aside the functional value of doing this or that. Harbaugh is getting the backs of seniors, who did not play perfectly but played well enough not to have the refs do such a shitty job and impact the key moments of this game.

I salute you, comrade. Anyone traveling to that dump to show our colors is more than just a "fanatic" in my book. You are a supporter and loyalist. I hope to hear you on the McDoom jet sweeps.
For those asking above, not sure if Alumni Association has a tailgate today but in my experience they are welcoming to all Michigan supporters but there is a fee for the tailgate, if I recall correctly.

Well, if you are into that kind of thing, you have to admit the last 24 hours has been a galactic reversal with respect to the top candidate's destination this off season.

Question: in the "sit-out" year that followed O'Korn's transfer from Houston to Michigan, were there any NCAA restrictions on his involvement with the team (other than prohibition to play in games)? I.e., any restrictions on practicing with the team, traveling to road games, etc.?

If by an apology "in advance" you were referring to the apology that follows five words later, I would suggest that you forgo issuing any "on time" apologies.

Can we call a spade a spade? That questionnaire is incredibly obnoxious. It has prima donna written all over it, and I can't imagine the "me first" issues that may come up as soon as we do anything against this mother's wishes. Attitudes can be contagious, and we should focus on recruiting team players over collecting football skills.
To be clear, I don't know Aubrey as a person and maybe everything will end up great for everyone. I'm just saying that if this questionnaire is any indication, the early warning signs are there. The whole legalese-sounding mumbo jumbo at the end is just inane.

To add to my reply, I mean, I chug the Michigan Kool-aid like Nic Cage chugs alcohol in Leaving Las Vegas, but why isn't the analysis here relative? Wouldn't the month to prepare also help Saban just as much? I believe Saban has a pretty good bowl record.

There is a downside to this - you have to play another game following a bruising slugfest with Alabama in the trenches. I don't know which team plays the "softest" that will make the CFP (Washington? Clemson?) but I would rather play that team first then play Alabama.
Also better for marketing/recruiting to make it to the championship game.

Section and row? I'd be willing to pay a good premium plus you will know that you are giving them to rabid Michigan fans.

Re: hotels, are you speaking from experience/knowledge or pessimism? I have been trying to plan this w/ my daughter but I (probably naively) figured that the City of Indianapolis could support the game without selling out.

Good point. That would be an unequivocal indication of Michigan support. Counting by Maize shirts will of course underrepresent the percentage because many of the supporters will inevitably be in Blue/Navy colors.

He is including his bet in the $400. This was a real line. I offered my co-worker Michigan -2, which was the line pre-season. He did not bite unfortunately.

|26 weeks 5 hours ago||I understand your point, and||
I understand your point, and I think it is a valid one. The counterpoint is that college should be a time that is used to prepare for your career, and maybe if you are completely inexperienced in playing in the cold, an NFL game (and the less than patient attitude of many NFL teams) may not be the best time to test yourself out. Also, to be technical, it's not just getting drafted by Green Bay and Buffalo that's the problem. There are away games and playoff games as well.
Again, I think you have a good point but I don't think the alternative viewpoint is completely without merit either.

I support this. I would also support a Noon kickoff for the Indiana game so that our team gets another 3.5 hours of rest/prep for The Game.
|27 weeks 2 days ago||Please stop repeating||
Please stop repeating D'antoni's quote (yes, a saying derived from the Bible) as if he taught all of us a valuable lesson about life and humility.
The truth is that there are better and worse things in life. Starting quarterback is a better position than back up quarterback. President is a better position than vice president. The University of Michigan is better than Michigan State University.
The subtext to his quote is that between equals we possessed undeserved pride. By repeating same, the subtext to your post is that balance has been restored and we are now equals again. You settle for too little.
Would you take a quote from your little brother and seethe for years to gain enough strength and stature so that one day you can re-use the quote back on him? No. We went through an unprecedented down period. We got knocked down. We stood back up. There is no need to apologize for the natural order of things.
Your very username is "UMProud". Be it.

I would not be surprised if Maryland is actually favored in that game. With a loss at Maryland, MSU would actually have six straight losses heading into its Illinois game.
|27 weeks 4 days ago||As a collective, we do an||
As a collective, we do an awful job of coordinating our colors. Did we try to do maize outs pre-Brandon? I don't recall.
Take the Rutgers game as an example, I was surprised to see so few maize colors in the stands, only to realize later that the other half of Michigan fans were in dark blue, which blends in with the Rutgers black and therefore makes no impression.
Even in our home games, we call for a maize out but all of our benches are colored in blue, and in part for that reason, the maize out always looks weak outside the student section.
When it comes to this issue, it's like we are playing tic tac toe and schools such as Tennessee are playing chess.
|27 weeks 6 days ago||Now that the OP is||
Now that the OP is responsible for any jinx to the team, any opinions on the credited strategy to attending the B1G Championship Game? I realize most of us do not have any direct experience with this b/c Michigan has never participated in that game.
I am an Alumni Association member but I have never been able to get tickets through them successfully. It appears that tickets went on sale on July 30 for the Championship Game and only single tickets remain. Tickets on StubHub are exorbitantly priced but I also don't want to fly in and look for scalpers.
I would love to take my daughter to the game. As others have mentioned, the 1 week turnaround for the game makes planning tricky. I have been to two Rose Bowls (both traumatic experiences - Vince Young scrambling to the right; Reggie Bush running everywhere on our defense), but there are many weeks leading up to the Rose Bowl Game, which makes booking hotel, flight, and tickets much easier.

I don't think he means that you are jinxing yourself to a financial loss. I think he means that you are jinxing the team's prospects.
|28 weeks 3 days ago||This was one of the most||
This was one of the most entertaining games that I have watched - especially because it appeared that Brian Kelly was trying to win some bizarre prop bet that involved Notre Dame completing a deep pass. I don't get it. All game long, trying to bomb the ball in an epic torrential downpour.

Personally, I think it would be good for the team to gain some experience playing in inclement weather - QB/center exchange, receivers catching the call, etc.
|32 weeks 8 hours ago||This +100 but it looks||
This +100 but it looks extremely unlikely given their next 6 games. They just don't look good enough to run 6-0 during that stretch (not to say that they are playing the Alabama's of the world).
