Officially dying here waiting for this to start

Excitement like Christmas morning. (Totally irrational) nerves like I'm going to a big job interview.  Whoever scheduled this for noon was a genius. I don't know if I could stand the stress of waiting for a later game.

Here's hoping we get lots of nice things today (we deserve it) and that we not only get the job, but do the job. With honor and relentless cruelty.

It's not my job to stop our team...

I love that. I don't think our team, even if we get to go deep into the roster, will stop for 1 second. And I don't think Sparty is in any position to do the stopping themselves.

The side of my brain that's seen both Michigan and Michigan State play this year is lifting me higher than the side of my brain still fighting the symptoms of football PTSD. I hope this is a painful day for MSU for years to come. I want the only thing they have to retort with for the next 20 years is "But that time you botched the punt..." or ""But when Brady Hoke ..."

Let's send Sparty back to living in the past, where they feel more comfortable.

Go Blue!

If Trey ate in 1979 West Quad

with hockey puck Quaddie Burgers and Cheez Whiz sauce, I could almost feel bad for him. My mom and dad paid a lot of money for me to eat that and limp grilled cheese and tomato soup for a year. In my own apartment, I managed to afford Deluxe Kraft Mac n Cheese and fish cakes.

I don't feel sorry for the limitations of his training table or the lack of training in how to become an NBA pro. It may feel like a farm team, but it's a university and the obligation of the coach should be to drive a team to victory, give you an opportunity to improve athletically, and see that you get an education.  This is not Merrill Lynch or Ruth's Chris.

That OSU fanalyst in the video will keep me smiling

until I have more pleasurable things to think about Saturday afternoon. Just perfect!

On Sharp, I didn't like him and agree with Brian's comments for the most part and respect his honesty.  I pretty much just didn't read Sharp. And I could never loathe him as much as I did (and do) loathe Michael Rosenberg. That's the difference between a troll and a tool, IMO.

GO BLUE!

Wheeeeeee!

I have the day off, enjoying a little MGoBlog action, and then off to start my non-profit's annual "boxing day" party to build holiday care packages for soldiers. Doesn't get much more bangworthy than that to start a great weekend! Go Blue!

Didn't always love his opinions

but that doesn't mean he wasn't a good man. I just took him with a grain of salt. It's always sad to lose someone so young, with undoubtedly a lot of living yet to do and a lot of words yet to publish. RIP Drew.

Still a huge fan, just a more rational one

I literally used to cry myself sick as a teenager when Michigan lost. While a student at U-M, a loss still hurt, but its effect was mainly the difference between "Hey, let's go out, crash parties and drink" vs "Let's stay home, pout a little, and drink."

Now, north of age 50, the tears are gone. The RR and Hoke years turned me into a pragmatic fan. I've always loved my team, but learned to temper my expectations - expect little and be thrilled when nice things happen. Like others have posted, I see this changing again now that Harbaugh is back and we're on the rise. I don't see the tears ever returning, but the bloodlust I felt last Saturday watching the Rutgers game felt very strange. Hadn't felt that rabid in ages! This isn't at team that will let me wear my cloak of indifference.

Not many people can outquote Harbaugh

but Chris Evans nailed it. It's that attitude on this entire team that is making this so fun and so successful.

My grandma's beat up '69 Ford Galaxy 500

She gave it to me when I was a senior at U-M in 1982-83. She had already beat it to death (bad parking experiences, running into parked cars, ... grandma-style traffic drama).

It was a boat and could carry 6 people and several $3.50 cases of Weidemann long-necks, which we'd drive through the Beer Depot to get before cruising about campus or speeding down Huron Parkway like we were in the Grand Prix, frighteningly unconcerned about getting pulled over.

Of  course this is behavior I'd be ashamed of now, but it was the free and easy 80s, coming out of the anything-goes 70s... and we did what came naturally in the context of that period in history, not looking at it in horror through today's stricter view of such things.

It was replaced upon graduation with a new Ford Escort. It was the only time I wasn't convinced that getting a new car was the right thing to do. That powerful old tank never left me feeling small and scared on an entrance ramp or keeping up with traffic on I-94.

It was a different time and it was a great old beater car that served its purpose.

It's like Harbaugh is drawing away the Eye of Sauron

while the staff and the team march onward in the quest to destroy evil. He's a genius.

It's not easy being green

Kermit the Frog's second verse says it all about poor Mark Dantonio:

It's not easy being green,
It seems you blend in with so many other ordinary things.
And people tend to pass you over 'cause you're not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water --or stars in the sky

Every time he zings out another snarky comment, Harbaugh wins. God, how he must hate our man. Even MSU fans I know are like "STFU, Mark".

SEC is all about the students

Well (allegedly) unless they're women and getting raped by the Tennessee football team.

But that apparently isn't as worthy of Sankey's indignation and horror as a few dozen kids from someone else's conference focusing completely on their exams, then enjoying a few practices in Florida while going to the beach and seeing the sights.

The air down South is rank with the smell of fear. I hope Delany and the NCAA let Harbaugh's March to the Sea continue unabated.

General Sherman is wise on these matters

War is the remedy that our enemies have chosen, and I say let us give them all they want.

He scorched and burned their lands. Harbaugh is scorching and burning their indignant asses. He should travel to Florida camp with a carpet-covered satchel.

He's gonna look so good

with little Spartan and Buckeye arms and legs squishing out from under him as the ground goes to mush with their blood and tears.

Hope it's all just national media drama and clickbait

From the types of "journalists" who brought you the reports that Harbaugh was never going to leave the NFL to come to Michigan.

Vitamin Water to wash down the melatonin

Dehydrated. Mind racing and far from sleepy while obsessing about NSD. It feels like Christmas Eve and our team deserves nice things. Hoping Gary doesn't choose the land of misfit toys.

I got a trunk organizer for Valentine's Day

After two years with this guy, full of flowers, romance, and long walks, hand-in-hand, at sunset, I got a trunk organizer for Valentine's Day. Being a practical sort of woman with a legitimately messy trunk, I wasn't too concerned, but still...

A couple months later at our best friends' wedding, he was acting as if I was invisible and hanging out with bridesmaids and one of our friends in particular. So I called him out to the hallway and confronted him with this. Our loud and tearful row outside the reception ballroom ended with him accusing me of very serious character flaws, namely, "You never fight with me." "You're so easy to get along with!" and the best set-up line ever "You've never told me to F**K OFF!"  [Yes, my shortcomings are serious, indeed.]

As angry as I've ever been with any man in my life, I gave him his fondest wish: "Well, asshole, here you go. F**K OFF!"   I hung around an appropriate time to be consoled by many shocked friends and even the guy's parents (who worshipped me then and for decades to follow)... then stormed righteously out of the building and got out of town for a few days.

Not long after, he started (or perhaps continued) seeing one of my closer friends. They eventually got married and today we're actually all friends again. It was dicey for a long time, but in the end, the worst breakup was  the best outcome of all time. He saved me from making the mistake of settling for what I thought was great but turned out to be "Meh".

I still have and use the trunk organizer.

It's amazing how the brain works

My mind quickly picks out the words OSU and MSU then glances at "out of the prism" and immediately sees "out of prison."

I don't think my cognitive faculties are too far off in this case!

BTW, agree with you!

It's not the Ws and Ls to me as much as the attitude

If it was Ws and Ls, I'd feel the same vitriol about OSU as I do MSU. I hate that the Little Brother thing ever came up, but in some respects, it's an apt description. Little Brother in today's parlance isn't about one school owning the other on the field. To me, it's acting like a 13 year old who's still mad that their big brother stole his candy when he was 3.

MSU doesn't have the grace to handle it's own success. The first thing they all tweet last night isn't positive stuff about their own season, it's "haaa, look at us Michigan fans... losers... haaaa". They don't enjoy their achievements because they're always looking around to see who's watching, who's noting how great they are, and who's slighting or disrespekting them in any way.  I can guarantee you, if Michigan was in their position this morning, we would NOT be taunting Spartans.

The MSU loss still hurts today but I got over the OSU loss very quickly. I have to live with and work for Spartans. I can't function in a world where they win a National Championship. They would be unbearable. They would care less about winning it for themselves than for lording it over everyone who's ever slighted them.

This is the kind of behavior you learn at Florida

You must have to sign away your soul to even cross the city limits into Gainesville. I'm so done with DJ Durkin. Our defensive play at the end of the season always seemed out of sorts to me given that we were top-ranked in D in so many categories the rest of the season. Now it's clear why. The dude is a snake - planning for and taking a job with a member of our own B1G division while he's clearly ignoring his team as it prepares for the OSU game? (It didn't look that great against Indiana either and I can't see that he made any adjustments whatsoever in any of those games.)

I don't think this will hurt us at all. We still have Jim Harbaugh and he will no doubt find someone even better than Durkin. His snake belly will be very comfortable slithering as a bottom dweller in the conference at Maryland. Who of any standing wants to play there anyway? Good riddance.

Cheers to your dad! I hope he

Cheers to your dad! I hope he really enjoys the game and a big Michigan win! GO BLUE!

I went to a game in Columbus ONCE

It was back in the '80s. Those people were (are?) animals. The entire campus was boarded up with plywood like a hurricane was coming to protect it from their own fans. Cops in riot gear with tear gas at the ready were lined up every 20 feet along High St to stop the potential violence from their own fans. I was at a stoplight, first in line, and the car behind me tried to ram my car through the intersection at the red light. And to top it off, a drunk Bucknut stole my friend's Michigan cap and ate a big chunk of it. Bit it off, chewed, and swallowed.

I hate those bastards. Beat them. Beat them to a bloody Scarlet pulp. If anyone's left standing, okay... they'll leave for the NFL anyway. GO BLUE!

Buckeye tears are sweet nectar

Heiko, you're reading our collective minds today. I hate OSU almost as much as Sparty.  If The Team speech has any merit (and we know it does) this game is its embodiment. Harbaugh is fielding a TEAM. Meyer is fielding talented individuals who proved last week they are above their team.

I haven't tasted Buckeye tears in ages, but I remember them being sweet and delicious. Go Blue! And Go Penn State!

Coffee and Baileys

while watching mass hypothermia set in down in Texas. If this goes to 3 OT, the cheerleaders are going to turn the color of TCU's pants.

38-31 The Team The Team The

38-31 The Team The Team The Team

This just keeps getting better and better.

I can't believe the transformation of this team physically and mentally from last year. It's all leadership and accountability. It was missing and now it's back and, voila, now Michigan is back. I can feel the balance of the world shifting again and it's fun to watch it happen.

I'm clicking the Unsee

I'm clicking the Unsee button but it won't go away.

Rutgers' score should resemble a hot

maple-glazed Durkin Donut.

Have to say

while reading it, I was thinking, "this kind of post is not happening in the MSU blogspace."

Going to a Bachelor Party of sorts

where we are celebrating the finalization of a dear friend's long, bitter divorce ... the ex's name is banished from conversation and the mood will be joyful. And many beers will die fulfilling their noble duty. Happy Saturday, friends!

Sparties complaining about calls

Priceless.

Karma is a righteous bitch.

I need to get some steel in my spine.

I'm not taking this as well as Harbaugh. And I get to go to work tomorrow morning to a smirking little SpartyBoss. I am determined to pull myself together by then. Sigh.

And then there are all the

And then there are all the times his excellent punts have put our defense in a great position to shut down our opponents deep in their own terrritory. If he's a dumbshit, then I'd say from reading this that he's not alone.

Replay official was the

Replay official was the scoring leader in my book. 14 points by my count.

Plausible speeches, both

I'm with Counterpunt and hope his prediction is accurate. Nothing could make my day, nay... my year better. My nerves are pretty steady, but time seems to be going so slowly. I just want it to start. I refuse to cave in to feelings of doubt. Harbaugh hasn't given me any reason to. This team doesn't quit. They find a way and between the crowd and their own hunger for vengeance, this should end well.

GO BLUE!

Yes, EXACTLY like that.

Close game? Why on earth would anyone wish for that? I want them to feel the weight of their insignificance. I want them to realize, after hours of punishment, that their little dreams of national importance and respect are dying and not so slowly. I want Dantonio to drink his body weight in Miralax and still not be able to get over the sh*t we're about to deal him.

That's all. GO BLUE!

And they will and it will be beautiful

People who doubt Michigan and praise State haven't been watching the same games I have. Reasons we will win:

1. Harbaugh

2. Filthy, vicious Defense

3. Special teams with some spicy Peppers sauce

4. 100,000 hostile Michigan fans

5. Harbaugh

MSU should feel safer playing in Damascus right now. As for the dirty stuff, Jimmy isn't going to clap and smile and put up with it when that goes down. I expect some epic fits of Harbaugh madness before it's over.

GO BLUE

There's a country song in there somewhere

I'm trying to leave my FEELINGS out of this game.  That would be falling into the Rich Rod/Hoke trap and I'm done with that era of doubt and fear.  I've watched most of every game for both teams this year and I don't see too many reasons Michigan shouldn't win this by a respectable margin. I know Dantonio will fling a few things at us that we haven't seen yet this year, but like others have said... it's Danotonio and we have Jim F*ing Harbaugh, who is formulating new brilliant ideas in his Michigan-augmented brain every minute. Anyone who thinks Mark Dantonio (a good coach) is going to outthink Jim Harbaugh (a brilliant coach) is sadly overestimating the grump up north.

Founders Breakfast Stout

It's not just for breakfast anymore. I feel good about tomorrow and am glad it's in A2 where a cranked and hostile home crowd is going to contribute to a Michigan win. If Rudock protects the ball and the defense does what it does like it has, there's no reason we should lose. I hope Connor Cook is picking bits of field turf out of his teeth by the end of it all. And that Miralax Mark Dantonio has a supremely poopy day.

GO BLUE! BEAT STATE!

Dantonio shoulder chips

Brilliant! And no doubt best served up with some MSU Dairy-made SOUR cream dip. I think our Defense is going to make a meal of these crunchy treats.

I hope rather than expect this will come true

Still, it's nice that the team has people talking and projecting such things. If you'd have asked me a year ago, pre-Harbaugh/Hackett, I would never have dreamed we'd go from not-so-funny punchline to a projected contender in 12 months.

On the bright side...

MSU-Purdue is being called by Beth Mowins, a sure sign that ESPN doesn't think the Spartans are "all that" anymore.

Same thinking that brought

Same thinking that brought us Millen's Detroit Lions?

I'm in for a couple of those!

I'm in for a couple of those!

It's a take on "The Devil Wears Prada"

Which is pretty much a novel and chick flick about mean women in the fashion industry -- what's surprising is that the Buckeyes at Eleven Warriors know about the Devil Wears Prada and how to tweak it to Harbaugh. Must be a couple of them are starting to walk upright.

Hail yes! I'm with you 100%

I can't find any reason not to believe. They're on a mission and until it's over, I believe they can do anything they set their minds to.  Michigan's steadily improving and innovating while some of the so-called "unbeatable" teams on our schedule have shown the chinks in their armor early. I count no "L" as a 100% sure thing this year, based on what I've seen.

And MSU's signature win is looking suspect

The level of Perceived Disrespect is about to reach critical mass in East Lansing. I'm not going to say anything jinxing about October 17, but I can't wait until that day. I want to see their bubble burst in spectacular fashion in front of 110,000 people loudly mocking them. I want Dantonio to drink his bodyweight in Miralax and still not be able to go. I feel anything under the sun is possible with the new old Michigan.

I won't let that kill my joy tonight

I'll think about that tomorrow during the Lions game so that all my joy-killing thoughts can happen at once. I'm efficient that way.

It feels so good

to feel so good.

Never doubted all week we would win but was overwhelmed by the progress they showed over the previous weeks. This is coaching. This is execution. This is M... nope, I'm not going to say it. This team's actions say it now.

What a cotton pickin' Maize and Blue day!
