I'm not even mad, that's par for the course as far as officiating at Cameron goes.

In the early 1990s Ron Kramer spread Bennie Oosterbaan's ashes all over the UM campus, including some on the field of Michigan Stadium, at Yost (where he played basketball) and at Fischer Stadium.

He deserves a suspension simply for being dumb enough to do that in front of a national television office. Until the 1978 Gator Bowl, Woody Hayes had the good sense to punch opposing players and band members in the tunnel--away from the prying eyes of the media.

I'm not a parent, and I'm not that bummed out by the loss. Thing is, I'm not sure why.
On the one hand, we were all half-expecting a blowout, yet there Michigan was with a chance to win the game in the final minute. And the offense came out of its shell for the first time since the Indiana game, unlike last year when it totally disappeared in the second half down in Columbus. So there was a lot to be positive about despite the loss.
But the more I think about it, the more I believe that the real answer is this: OSU has beaten us 11 of the last 13 years. I'm in my mid-20s, meaning that OSU has owned Michigan for half of my time on this earth, including my entire teens and all of my adult life so far. Losing to OSU is, sadly, normal. And this game being competitive was so much of an improvement over recent years that merely being competitive is its own form of victory. And that's incredibly sad.
I'm to the point where losing to OSU is the default outcome. So why would I get terribly upset about losing yet again?

Don't they have to take the top ranked non-AQ if either the Pac 12 or B1G champ is in the title game, provided they're in the top 14? Isn't that how TCU played in Pasadena a few years ago?

No way does the conference office want to jeopardize OSU's chances at a national title, rules, standards, and "values" be damned. It's the 2011 Sugar Bowl all over again.

|2 days 22 hours ago||Yes. If they can go||
Yes. If they can go toe-to-toe with a top 5 team, they should be a top-5 team. And looking at the schedule, there's really no excuse for not winning 9 games at worst including all seven home games, since they don't play Nebraska, Iowa, or Wisconsin. The trick will be overcoming Hoke's road woes: ND, Rutgers, MSU, Northwestern, OSU are the road games.

Undefeated heading to Columbus? I'm not so sure about that. Michigan is still bad on the road, and the team plays a couple of tough road games (ND, MSU, Northwestern).
The schedule is soft, but the tougher games are all on the road.

|1 week 1 day ago||As much as I complain about||
As much as I complain about this kind of stuff, I have to admit that the lack of success on the field is what makes it so glaring. Double-digit win seasons and conference championships would make me less bitchy about prices and more inclined to tell the AD to shut up and take my money.
That being said, I do think that football tickets are overpriced (I have no basis for comparison for the other sports). PSDs mean that I will never be able to afford season tickets even if the tickets themselves were more reasonably priced, which they aren't. And pricing the crap games on the schedule at $70 is just highway robbery. Games against MAC teams and low-end B1G teams should be at most $40 or $50, with "premium" games against powerhouses and rivals up in that $70-75 range.
I could do without the constant ads on the scoreboards, but as long as they stay Michigan-related and don't increase in frequency (a man can dream...) then I'll temper my disapproval.
tl;dr the team needs to get better and ticket prices need to come down.
|1 week 3 days ago||They were also riding a||
They were also riding a 4-game winning streak where they had not scored fewer than 35 nor allowed more than 9. The week before they played OSU they went to Iowa City and kicked the crap out of the Hawkeyes 51-6 and the players chanted "Beat the Buckeyes" at the top of their lungs in the locker room after the game.
I really hope we beat OSU like the '69 team did, but that team was hitting on all cylinders for a month before they played The Game. This situation is a little more analagous to the 1995 and 1996 seasons. In '95, Michigan had lost two of their previous 3 games (and the win was a 5-0 shitfest over Purdue). In '96, Michigan had lost both of its games leading up to the OSU game. But Michigan found a way to win against OSU teams that were both ranked #2.
Let's hope this group finds a way as well.
