Yeah, this time last year we were Texas: biggest tire fire in all of CFB. Even Texas has not had their woes make the national news two nights in a row like we did.
People who knew nothing about college football knew there was trouble at Michigan.
I feel sorry for nobody this season.

I've been very impressed with how they have a philosophy . . . balanced attack, use the run to set up the pass . . . but are extremely flexible and creative in how they get there.
We all know they wanted to run on Maryland, like WVU and a MAC team did, and were probably shocked and dismayed that they could not.
But they did not dwell on it. They looked at what they could do, went to it in the 3rd quarter, and scored 3 quick TDs.
This may be a MANBALL staff, but it is not a 27-27 staff.

I think Cardale Jones woke up and realized "Holy shit, I'm the QB for the #1 team and now I've got to play like it every week."
It all came so sudden last year, he really did not have time to think about it. Now he has, and he has the yips a little bit. He had to be 3rd string most of last last season for a reason.
Also, teams have learned that you have to tackle him. Nobody is just giving him a little shove anymore like you do other QBs and then wind up surprised when he is still standing and heaves a 40 yard pass downfield.

Yeah, Indiana won't be the de-facto bye week I thought they would be at the beginning of the season. That will have to be Rutgers.

Love this quote that he uses a lot:
You get better at football by playing football.

Reporters, he's on to your game:
“Sometimes, just let me know- just let me know what you want me to say, and I’ll try to accommodate. [/laughs] Sometimes you come with the story already written. Probably save us a lot of time-”

Yes, I noticed how the blue stirpes are tto wide and the yellow stripes too narrow. The ones like this are much more bad ass:

The problem with that is that weekend will not always be a bye weekend. Now your anniversary is forever in November. Sooner or later it is going to collide with a big game: "You're watching football . . . on our Anniversary?!!"

I was in a wedding during a Michigan - Michigan State game. We tried to sneak a peak on a TV in the limo and the bride freaked out on us.
Fortunately this was in the Sparty NO! era and the game wound up being an easy, no-drama Michigan win.

Because he brings up a legit point?
They have been playing football night games for 123 years:
They have seen it all. In fact, they had seen it all before any of us were even born.
If they don't want a night game, then the AD should just say "We just don't want a night game. We don't need an excuse, we just don't feel like it. Too bad if you don't like it. We brought you Harbaugh, so shut up."
They don't need to hide behind lame excuses like the town or the police dept can't handle it. They do it just fine in places that are hardly role models of decorum and mental stability like Baton Rouge.
And they have been doing it longer than any of us have been alive.

Almost everyone is back. That's the best part about softball - when great players become Seniors . . . they are still in school.
When I was watching Romero last year, I kept having this reflexive nagging feeling that I got as a habit from watching football and basketball . . . it's too bad she'll leave early. I forgot that not everything is like football or basketball.

Maybe he is not bragging and is just going to be in Budapest and wants to watch the game.
What's he supposed to say? "I will be in some place in Eastern Europe that may or may not be really cool . . . that's not really the point . . . I just want to watch the Michigan game. If it turns out to be a really cool place, will you still tell me anyway?"

|16 hours 14 min ago||I feel like having those||
I feel like having those constraint plays, and dialing them up at the right time, is the key difference between this staff and the last.
I agree with this, and it's ironic because it's exactly what Borges waxed eloquently about wanting his offense to be based on. But he could never pull it off. The new staff said nothing about it, they just do it.
What was the Harbaugh quote? . . . we don't want to talk about doing it, we want to do it.

Maryland's defense was not extremely talented, but they were very quick, especially side-to-side. The filled the lanes quickly and got to the edges quickly.
We started scoring when we exploited that quickness and got them out of position on screens and sweeps, and when Drake Johnson, who gets into and out of holes quickly himself, started getting carries.
|17 hours 1 min ago||They ran out of hot dogs and||
They ran out of hot dogs and pretzels 5 minutes before the half, while the lines were still small. And they only sell hot dogs, pretzels, and pop corn. They seemed surprised that there were people that wanted to buy concessions at a football game half-time. It caught them totally off guard.
The whole Maryland infrastructure - their football team, coaches, fans, stadium staff - was just going through the motions.
All of this made me think two thoughts:
1) Thank god Michigan was there to pick up the slack and it was not a Maryland-Purdue game. It would have been one of the most pathetic public events ever held.
2) Don't ever fucking tell me that Michigan does not have great fans. OK, they don't act like crazed imbecils as much as some other teams, but they are knowledgeable, loyal, and they support the team in all weather, literally and figuratively. We took that place over and did not leave it until the team left the field.

|17 hours 16 min ago||I love Harbaugh's quote after||
I love Harbaugh's quote after it was clear we that could not run the ball: "We were trying to figure out what we could execute well and avoid the big mistake." They came up with the screens and the jet sweep to put the game away.
That's coaching . . . having a Plan B no matter how convinced you are that Plan A - running the ball down their throats the same way WVU and a MAC team did it - can't fail.
Whether we should have been able to run or not, it became clear we could not. So they adapted, like USC did against us in the 2007 Rose Bowl to hand us an embarassing loss.
The old staff would have just gone 27-27 because, by damn, these plays are supposed to work and we practiced them all week.
