"He makes it really easy on you as a coach because he has tremendous football instincts," Michigan tight ends coach Jay Harbaugh said. "Things come really naturally to him. He doesn't have to see things too many times. He has a good sense for how things should look and feel, and he's a tough, physical guy."

High praise, indeed.

The Maryland D was quick, especially side-to-side. Not the most talented as a team, but they were very quick.
Our scoring plays came when we got them to overpursue themselves out of position - screens, jet sweep, etc.

302, 8 rows from the top. Yikes. I'll move to another section at halftime. The Maryland sections should be pretty empty.

Does Weather.com generally know what they are talking about? For college Park, they show a long stretch of time from noon to 6:00 with cloudy skies but no rain (only 20% to 25% chance).

Is Oregon a one-act play? Are they MySpace . . . an early innovator who did not have a second act when stiff competition showed up?
Oregon was special when thay were killing it with random-number-generator Uniformz and the warp-speed Spread and Shred, while the rest of CFB watched in awe from a distance. (SI cover after they beat us in 2003: Ducks - Rich, Cool, and 4-0. Quack! Quack!)
There's a 30 for 30 story to be told there (spoiler - Michigan will be in it).
But today, everybody has Uniformz. They are nothing special. When Maryland is "hip", it's time to get a new definition of hip.
Today everybody runs the spread. It's not special anymore and defenses are adapting to it. They are certainly not scared of it anymore like they used to be. When even Indiana football runs the spread, it can no longer be considered innovative.
Oregon has a lot of money, so they won't just go away, but will there really be anything special about them a decade from now?

I was at the '85 game (Harbaugh was QB). I hope we have a game like that one. We just carefully eroded them down to nothing and then everybody went home.
Boring but satisfying.

This is starting to look like an ordinary conventional game between two mismatched teams.
Maryland has lost all of it's X factors to pull off an upset: Night game, boozed up fanatic crowd, really bad weather. Punts to Will Likely.
It now looks like your typical lethargic noon game that they put on BTN for a reason . . . sparse home crowd, dead atmosphere, the more talented team slowly grinding down the inferior team, the game finishing in an empty stadium while the announcers make small talk.

Let's just do that anyhow. Let's walk around in a big group with bottles of booze and potato chips and keep trying doors on classroom buildings until one opens. Then we'll just take it over until the game starts.

At 12 years old my son wore my shoes (size 11) and was bigger and heavier than his teacher, who as far as I know did not ride in a car seat.
Him being in a car seat booster based on a one-size-fits-all directive from NHTSA was stupid.

More than anything, recruits hate even the hint of coaching instability. Once Hoke and crew started looking unstable, it was over.
The Harbaugh regime looks pretty stable. Gary should be a litttle wary of all the noise at Auburn however ...
