| 2 days 7 min ago | Yes, this is all about |
Yes, this is all about demographics. Delaney has said consistently that the B1G wants to expand its footprint into growing demographic areas. For the B1G, that menas it has to look east and south. Hence Rutgers and MD instead of schools that would have been more of a natural fit for the B1G like Kansas and Mizz. So who's left that can actually make it worthwhile? Pipe dream schools: - UT, OK, UNC. They aren't coming, and OK is not even close to fitting the academic profile. More realistic schools (that the B1G would actually want): - UVA, GT, BC. They're not home runs, but they fit the demographic profile of what the B1G would be looking for. The Grant of Rights really does throw a monkey wrench into things, since the realistic schools are all ACC teams. What is interesting is that these schools, which were all in some level of discussion of interest with the B1G, chose to still sign the Grant of Rights. They ccould have used it as a reason to accelerate membership into the B1G. If these schools and the B1G really wanted it to happen, the deal would have been done, ala Maryland. But both the B1G and and these candidate ACC schools let the Grant of Rights happen. That leads me to believe that the interest was lukewarm on both sides. So, I think we are done at 14 for the foreseeable future. Not because of the Grant of Rights per se, but because of the lukewarm interest its represents for UVA, GT, BC.

It's supposed to be "great" because it's Notre Dame, but there are several just like it in CFB, such as Navy. |

I was crushed, but I have to be honest . . . I'm still not sure we would have won the game without that call. The call happened with 5 minutes left in the game, not 5 seconds. It put them up five. We still had time to get some stops and get back in it, but we could not get stops. That's why we lost. Sometimes you have to give the other team some credit. Louisville played outstanding to win, and we forced them to have to play outstanding to win. No shame in that.

You are not oblivious with Alzheimers. You are cognizant and suffer with the deteriorization evey inch of the way. Both are horrible illnesses that could make a sane person consider suicide, as is Parkinsons, advanced Diabetes, and a dozen other crappy illnesses. No need to try to win the Misery Olympics.

We are a case in point. We were not able to replicate the luck we had in 2011 in 2012. It can be argued that 2012 was a better team, but it had a worse record than the 2011 team. The same thing is likely to happen to ND. I'm not saying they'll go 5-7, but they won't go undefeated or even have only one loss.

| 1 week 10 hours ago | We actually have more |
We actually have more baseball National Championships than we do basketball National Championships. Had Michigan won the basketball NC this year, we would be the only school with multiple National Championships in each of the big 4 major sports of football, basketball, baseball, and hockey.

| 1 week 10 hours ago | Nobody may show up to |
Nobody may show up to watch it, but IMO, the 2014 schedule is really not that bad from a difficulty point of view. Yes the four hardest opponents - ND, MSU, NW, OSU - are all on the road, but they are broken up very nicely.
We have App State at home before we go on the road to ND, we have a Bye before MSU, we have Indiana before NW, and we have a bye then MD before OSU. We also don't play Nebraska or Wisconsin.
I would argue that this year's schedule is actually harder. We don't play all our toughest opponents on the road, but we have to play them all back to back in November.

| 1 week 10 hours ago | Aren't GA student tickets all |
Aren't GA student tickets all season tickets? If so, then to oversell them, DB has to oversell season tickets. It will work great for Indiana games when half the students will stay home. But for Ohio State when they all want to go to the game . . . .not so much. You can't just give them a voucher for a future flight for the biggest game of the year.

Yeah, we did just fine in the Big Two-Little Eight era in the '70s and 80s when OSU was the only compelling game and it was not at home half the years. We still drew 100,000.

DB will blackmail the people who want to drop season tickets in 2014 with the 2015 home schedule. If you drop out in 2014, you won't be able to get 2015 tickets. |
