Uh, oh. Looks like it's official now.

Last year's 242 was about 200 hero yards. This year's 350 was about 20 hero yards.
This year looks more repeatable once the B1G starts.

I lked his synopsis. Saved me from having to actually go to an Ohio State site and get solied by the delusional comments.

I Pos'd you for this. Perspective indeed. Feels great.
Here to being all about lemons and Kate's tatas the Monday after the Ohio State game.

And surprisingly we had enough sense to switch to Terrell in the second half when our running game was not working.

It's all ND's fault. You keep making all of our QB's look like September Heismans when we play you.

He won't be here long enough to prove it. He's probably gone after this year, and he did not play enough pure receiver last year.
That does not necessarily mean he's not the best, but his stage to prove it is very small.
Welcome to the New Age. Guys like Peppers only typically have 2 years to show their stuff, then they are gone. I don't like it, but that's how it is. It limits them from being in conversations about "Best Ever".
Look at Charles Woodson. He did not become "Charles Woodson" until his third year. Had he left after '96, we'd be looking at someone else's giant bobble-head statue in the stadium concourse.

not to mention he can catch.
It is starting to look that way. He hasn't shown the dropsies he showed last year that made you say "I see why he was a TE and not a receiver in the first place." That was the only thing holding him back.

Yes, you young guys always lament that you did not get to experience the Michigan of the '80s and '90s, and for good reason.
But there is one area you have a (chicken) leg up on us . . . success against Notre Dame.
We experienced a series of maddening losses, particularlly at ND, via freakish events. We were snake-bit.
Not so for you guys. You beat them every way possible . . . blowouts, close games, games at A2, games at ND, games at night. All of it. You even knocked their lucky charms rainbow out of the sky.

And now it's done. The mystique is gone. What do they really have to show for it?
If I'm an App State fan, I'd rather have the unblemished win than the "attention" of getting pasted in a rematch that removes any doubt that the first win was a one-time flash in the pan thing that will never happen again.
Several of the App State players from the first game have said this very thing.
|1 day 8 hours ago||I don't feel better about the||
I don't feel better about the loss, but I do like the symmetry of us taking care of business and closing the book on that chapter. It already feels like a grainy historical event that happened three coaching staffs ago. It has lost any relevancy to today.
On the flip side, i feel a little sad for their fans. I work with a guy that went to App State. He said that until their win over Michigan, he was ashamed to say that he went to a place called "Appalachian State". But he's not anymore. Because of that win and the attention it got. And he's not even a football fan or even a sports fan. It does not matter, that win put that program on the map. It is more than a win in a football game, it is now part of the very DNA of the university itself.
To take some of the mystique away from the win for no compelling reason just seems unnecessary.
|1 day 8 hours ago||Seems they could have gotten||
Seems they could have gotten that by playing any number of top 25 programs, all of whom need bodybags for a seventh home game.
I'm not sure how good their exposure was on Saturday. They just looked like a small nothing-special school. All the mystique is gone . . . they have the origianl win, but you don't feel like they could ever do it again. Yet there was a time were you were just not 100% sure.

These expansions are just adding a lot more crappy seats.

|1 day 9 hours ago||Anyone else still surprised||
Anyone else still surprised that App State even agreed to schedule this game?
I know they got a payout (around $850,000), but it was not a program-changing amount of money. They could have gotten similar $ from other top programs that need to fill up 7 home games. Why go back to Michigan and do anything to deliberately make the first time look like a fluke?
They could have gone forever undefeated against the winningest program of all time. Why dilute their biggest win of all time for no good reason? They will always have the win, but some of the mystique is gone.
We get mad at our AD for selling us out, but their AD really sold them out.

It looked decent on TV.
For all of the criticism it gets, it's still the section that stands out when you see crowd shots of the stadium.

I'm sure he got over it after all of these years.
But the important thing is that he does not reflexively hate us. He can actually call a game with Michigan in it pretty much the same as any other game he calls. Smith and Galloway can't get past the fact that it's Michigan, especially in the Big House.
That's fine. I don't think I could go into Ohio Stadium to call a game and successfully hide the implied "assholes" that just comes out with every comment I make regarding Ohio State football.

|1 day 14 hours ago||Yes, it's a classic "I don't||
Yes, it's a classic "I don't have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun you" case.
At least one Power 5 champion is going to be left out. It won't be the SEC. Because ESPN. It won't be FSU if they win the ACC because of last year.
There is a three-way fight between the B1G, Pac12, and Big12 to not be the one left out when the music stops. We are already behind the 8 ball with the Wiscy choke. Especially because they did it in such "Big Ten" fashion - one-dimensional running game, not enough athletes at WR and CB to keep up.
The Sparty game is the B1G's last great hope to make a statement . . . that if you are leaving a conference out, go look elsewhere.
