Per the recruiting rankings, that Alabama team was the most talented team ever assembled. 

And yet when you watch the highlights, Michigan looks like the more talented team.  Which they actually were.

If anybody has a maize Michigan pom pom from the Rose Bowl, I will buy it.

I could not find one on the internet, so I bought a "defeated" Alabama red/white Rose Bowl pom pom.  It's actually kind of cool to have it.  A Mr. Brightside beats Dixieland Delight sort of thing.

I am that obsessed.

This game tracked like every single big Michigan loss ever . . . until it didn't.

It's like the football gods were saving up for that one big Michigan redemption, and this was it.

Thank you, Oh tormenting yet eventually benevolent football gods.  You work in strange and mysterious ways.

We have more Frozen Fours than anybody.  But our time there has not been very productive, to say the least.  This year was an outlier, but most of our failures in Frozen Fours have been in incredibly close games, often in overtime.  You would have expected us to do better just by random luck alone. 

I was rooting against Denver, but I had to appreciate their ability to do to BC what BC did to us, and then some.  They deserved the win.

Imagine if the NFL and NBA and MLB and NHL were run in a way where they still make all of the money they do . . . but fans and doners were expected to pay the players' salaries.

That would be a batshit crazy unsustainable system.

Yet, that exactly describes college sports right now.  Insane.

Honest question . . . where is Ohio State getting all this money?

We needed some puck luck and bad calls to go in our favor to win.  

Instead, BC - who definitely did not need it - got the puck luck and bad calls to go in their favor.  And it happened early in the game.

Forget it.  It was all over when that went down.

That's insane. That place is tiny.  Even Northwestern will have too many people for it.

Meh.  Harbaugh was always just on loan to us.  He was always going to go back to the NFL.  I'm grateful for what he did for us when he was here.

We needed some lucky bounces and bad calls to go our way to win.  Instead, BC - who didn't need them - got the lucky bounces and bad calls.  It's over when that happens.

The clock has struck midnight on the team.  Still a great season.

And hasn't been correspondingly called on BC.

Time for a third period for the ages.

I still don't know where UConn is.  I have never even met anybody from UConn, and I live in the Northeast.

According to the official record, nobody won more games in the 2013 NCAA tournament than Michigan.  So that makes us the National Champions in my book.

I LOVE UConn's offense.  I want me somma that.

That was an intense game. BC hit the iron twice in sudden death OT.  Meanwhile, the Michigan winner slipped in through a gap with not even an inch of clearance.  Made up for the previous year.

Yay!

I saw that when it happened.  Nobody was sure what they just saw. 

I don't miss them at all.

Doing it when it counts is what separates being merely talented from being champions.

That was dirty.

Indeed, Michigan did not win the National Championship without talent.  They won it with vastly mis-identified talent. 

If you re-ranked all of the CFB rosters on Jan 9th 2024, Michigan would be at the top of the list.  Just look at the NFL draft proceedings so far.

A Michigan National Championship indeed should have been anticipated by the start of the season.
