he's also got three NAIA…

he's also got three NAIA championships and another runner up.

he's won 104 games as a head coach and never lost more than 3 games in a season.

its never easy to follow the guy but he sure looks like he's a very good coach.

They also have a Treveyon…

They also have a Treveyon Henderson who is better than either Singleton or Allen and ANOTHER 1st-round-type WR in Egbuka.

I feel confident as well but they have far more weapons that are capable of having A GAME than PSU does

this article is terrible and…

this article is terrible and far be it for me to bring facts to an NCAA bashing party BUT

these games take place at high school stadiums. there is a strict no tobacco policy. Ferris did this same thing two years ago. They were warned and knew of severe repercussions in advance of this past season's championship game and they did it any way.

We can debate whether or not the punishment fits the crime and whether the NCAA is a pile of horseshit or not but when someone tells you "don't do x or y will happen" and you do x you have no one to blame but yourself.

Disclaimer: I'm extremely…

Disclaimer: I'm extremely happy with how this team has played the past 2+ seasons and I realize this is a spoiled fan comment.

1. 50/50 run/pass hasn't been close the past two weeks. 31/12 last week and 40/21 this week. Sure looks like that went right out the window the moment JJ showed any wobbliness

2. They showed a lot of creativity and absolutely carved up Rutgers on the one drive they featured Edwards and Corum at the same time and used both. Hopefully they just put it back in the box because it wasn't needed.

3. Its mildly irritating to watch this team only score as many points as needed to be 'comfortably ahead' then shut it down.

non-Michigan notes:

I don't think Penn State's offense is any good. Against B1G defenses Allar is averaging 5.3 YPA. Allen and Singleton are averaging 4.16 YPC.

I need a supercut of Ryan Day's postgame "we're totally tough, okay, you guys. we only had one bad half, you guys" audio over Edwards and Haskins highlights in the The Game.

I came here to say I thought…

I came here to say I thought on the first INT he was forcing the ball to Wilson as a safety net.  I don't know if that's the case on the Johnson INT but I do wonder why he chose that throw instead of the more open Wilson with a throwing window the size of Tycho Station.

To me - INT #1 was a Barner…

To me - INT #1 was a Barner mistake but JJ also sort of blindly throws that to where Wilson is. Brian's take is a good one: Barner ran the wrong route but there's a very high chance that he comes away with a TD if you just throw it to him instead of Wilson.

I don't have any takes regarding INT#2. He could have thrown it to Wilson he had a giant window to throw into with no one with any leverage, but the throw to CJ is also fine...CJ just didn't commit to the route.

INT#3 based on his reaction and his body language on the sideline after the play felt like JJ was pressing and trying to make up for the last two picks. Hopefully it serves as a good reminder for a still-young-man: play within your limits, don't let the outcome (good or bad) of the last play impact how you approach the next.

I know what you're saying…

I know what you're saying and you're right. But that jersey is fucking embarrassing.

IIRC - any MDen jersey…

IIRC - any MDen jersey customized with a current player name/number gives that player a portion of the proceeds in NIL.

I haven't watched or…

I haven't watched or listened to a baseball game in almost a decade but this one hit me hard. Jim Price was an absolute legend- his voice just sounded like Tiger baseball as much as Ernie's did.

He seemed like an absolute gem of a human being and you can tell how much he loved baseball and the Tigers in every game he broadcast.

He was a fantastic partner for Dickerson and there's so many 'Jim-isms' that I say regularly without even realizing I picked them up from Mr. Price.

My condolences to his family and may he rest in peace.

Parents: talk to your…

Parents: talk to your children about the dangers of Lions optimism. It can affect children and adult children of any age.

Its not a curse. You're…

Its not a curse. You're skewed by the fact that the Lions organization has been so overwhelmingly incompetent for the past 50+ years that any accidental success that's upended by even the slightest misfortune feels like a 'curse.'

They're probably about average in terms of 'bad luck.' But their success or potential success is so sporadic that it just feels 'cursed' when one rogue positive sign is wiped out by misfortune.

Didn't AntWright just…

Didn't AntWright just yesterday say Michigan was eliminated? Can people please stop taking him seriously now.

"who of any consequence is…

"who of any consequence is left"

in a post about a player who totaled 11 minutes of game time last year.

??

there was an entire cottage…

there was an entire cottage industry of 'tiger proofing' golf courses. No one can evaluate his play and impact on the sport and say 'overrated' with a straight face. Dislike him? sure. Think he's a skeeve? sure. Say he ruined his career with the weights and the scandals, etc? sure. But not overrated.

I came here to say Ozzie.

I came here to say Ozzie.

There are only 12 goalies with more wins than him all time.

Brodeur, Roy, Fleury, Luongo, Belfour, Lundqvist, Joseph, Sawchuk, Plante, Esposito, Hall, Fuhr

6 of those 12 have multiple Stanley Cups

Of the 5 eligible goalies (Fleury is still active) with 300 wins and mulitple stanley cup championships only Ozzie isn't in the hall.

Ken Holland's name is on…

Ken Holland's name is on multiple cups because he shared a GM room with some incredibly talented people and some good luck.

Jim Devellano, Jim Nill, Stever Yzerman and being 'first to market' on European scouting is what got Ken Holland his rings. He has virtually no success after those three moved on and the rest of the league started scouting Europe.

"if only the wings had a…

"if only the wings had a superstar they'd be so fun to watch"

players like McDavid come around only once a generation.

I'd argue that Seider is a superstar (just not at a glamour position) and Raymond certainly is on that path. He's just now starting his prime and he only has 2 full seasons under his belt.

there were actually 3 …

there were actually 3 "Mermaid Avenue" (billy bragg and wilco) records released.

Chris Cornell - Nothing…

Chris Cornell - Nothing compares 2 u (prince cover)

Mr Little Jeans - The Suburbs (Arcade Fire)

Regina Spektor - Real Love (Beatles)

Cat Power - I found a reason (Velvet Underground)

Gary Jules - Mad World (tears for fears)

A$AP Rocky - (Sittin on) The Dock of the Bay (Otis)

Chvrches - Do I Wanna Know (Arctic Monkeys)

The White Stripes and The Stones both do several really good Robert Johnson Covers

There's a really great youtube channel / podcast from Australia called Like a Version that's really great for some very interesting covers.

I like Metallica up until…

I like Metallica up until about the Black Album. I like Seger. I hate this opinion.

If it is pick 1-10 its…

If it is pick 1-10 its Boston's if its 12-32 its Detroit's. If Boston keeps the pick in '24 it converts to an unprotected in '25 for the Wings.

I think a case of them…

I think a case of them capitalizing on a hot trade market and getting tremendous value on two guys that they didn't envision as cornerstones of the rebuild.

I don't think they had the juice to get into the playoffs and definitely not to advance. Without 'the streak' there's no impetus to make the playoffs if you can't compete.

Darren McCarty, Bob Probert…

Darren McCarty, Bob Probert and Joey Kocur (even on their best possible days) would not even sniff a training camp roster in today's NHL. I assure you we do not need any of them or similar players on this roster.

I say this as someone who's favorite player until adolescence was Bob Probert.

I tuned in right before…

I tuned in right before halftime. I thought this was a very enjoyable watch. The sandwich center was raucous most of the second half.  It reminded me of a marathon Attitude-Era ECW match. Chair Shots, broken bottles over the head, trash cans to the face.

It was really encouraging to see this team continue to fight and stand up. Great win!

He played four years and was…

He played four years and was drafted by the NFL so I'm sure Chris Perry is right out as well

I don't see Steve Perry on…

I don't see Steve Perry on the list.

sure would be great to be…

sure would be great to be able to watch their games on a streaming service that didn't cost more than every other streaming service out there.

none of the above.

we're…

none of the above.

we're on a flat disc that rests on the back of four elephants which in turn are standing on the back of a giant sea turtle swimming through space.

Weren't they already under…

Weren't they already under contract with FSD once Bally acquired the regional sports networks?

I think Ryan Day has earned…

I think Ryan Day has earned the benefit of the doubt. He inherited JT Barrett and then has gone on a run that's put 3 straight QBs in the first round of the draft and every single year but 1 his QB was a finalist for the Heisman (that year the QB finished in the top 10). I'm sure Kyle McCord or Devin Brown are going to turn out just fine.

PSU is the biggest question mark to me. Sure, they return a lot and have some electric defenders and RBs but their OL is bad, Allar is a true soph and Franklin has yet to produce a high end QB. They'll probably be fine but it would not shock me to see them drop 3 or 4 games.

so if there are no DPI or…

so if there are no DPI or holdings before the last 4 minutes of a game, we should just take the refs off, then?

You can disagree with it but it happened, it was fairly obvious and the player even admitted it was a hold.

In my opinion that pretty much nullifies it being a "bad call"

at the half put a fair bet…

at the half put a fair bet on the Chiefs to win by 8-12 at +750. Had it until 5:15 left...

FSU/UNC/UND and a surging…

FSU/UNC/UND and a surging SCAR can easily produce two losses. Same deal with USC - They're great but so its ORE, Wash, Utah. There's just too many landmines to dodge.

Alex Grinch is still…

Alex Grinch is still employed there so "Defense" is a nebulous concept and tackling is a little known mystical art.

i know that this isn't what…

i know that this isn't what people mean but the demented part of my brain always translates this to "basketball was better when it had more whistles"

This just isn't true.

There…

This just isn't true.

There's a handful of players who make huge splashes and frequent moves but there's plenty of teams with solid cores that they've built and developed.

The talent level and speed of the game is so much better than its maybe ever been...its the drama (that you could argue is by design and geared toward younger folks) that's different and the olds can't separate the two.

if I'm Matt Ishbia - it…

if I'm Matt Ishbia - it doesn't matter to me. I have a chance to win a title immediately after taking over from a notorious asshole and incompetent owner, I've got to take it. A title will earn so much good will that even giving up 3 lottery picks plus will be easy to swallow.

its been reported this…

its been reported this contract is fully guaranteed so firing them won't save them a penny.

This has got to be a mistake…

This has got to be a mistake. All the armchair NBA scouts on mgoblog told me this guy fucking sucks and was a moron for even considering the NBA.

thats a brutally steep price…

thats a brutally steep price. exciting time to be a wings and pistons fan but this is comical

If the feelings on this…

If the feelings on this board are anything like the rest of the Michigan fanbase I don't know why Caleb would want to come back. You'd think he as one arm and its a gimpy one based on how this fan base talks about him.

I think the secret sauce is…

I think the secret sauce is both. We've been spoiled because we've had that mix going back to 2011. You have to recruit guys with little to no NBA prospects to build a core and a culture of a program --- to create a foundation. Then you sprinkle in the Jordan Pooles, Diabates, etc. If you lean too far one way - you become Wisconsin - hideous unwatchable basketball with extremely limited upside. If you lean too far the other -- you're Kentucky. Soulless, no fight teams who either end up in the championship game based on talent or bounced in the first round by a MAAC school.

i choose the guy who set a…

i choose the guy who set a rivalry record and ruined ohio state's title hopes. ....wait

I'm going with Biakabutuka. He had almost 65% of our offense in that game (yardage-wise). The team averaged 4.8 ypc aside from him.

Haskins performance was a great performance but without him we still averaged 9.8 YPC and had exactly 0 carries for a loss until the kneel downs at the end. This was a team paving and Haskins was the benefactor.

don't let any of this take away from the fact that Michigan beat Ohio State 42-27. People forget that.

AntWright is full of shit?…

AntWright is full of shit? Knock me over with a feather.

if Jeff Fisher coached a Kirk Cousins team what would happen?

he literally(1) made his…

he literally(1) made his name with a faceless receiving core. David Patten? Troy Brown? Deion Branch was the best of his developmental years...and he never had a 1000 yd season.

I don't share the injury…

I don't share the injury panic from the people critical of the Williams pick. He will come back just fine.

My problem is with the strategy. If you're biding your time for the next QB (Goff a'int it, chief) why not load up on defense so he doesn't have to be a superstar right away? Before the trade you could have had Hutch, Cine and maybe Dean which is an automatic, home run draft regardless of what else you do.

You should be building up at least one side of the ball before spending all your draft capital.
