I buy that it's legitimately sourced and that he's considered it. I just don't buy that he'd do it outside of getting ousted out of Detroit (which has as much chance of happening as me Kate Upton and Olivia Wilde having a weekend long wife-approved 3some)

I will be interested to see how Porcello's numbers improve now that we have a defense that sort of approaches average. He's always been the only mainstay in our rotation that isn't a strike out picther with a defense that was putrid. Maybe he improves...or maybe he continues to be Gas Can Ricky.

Jim Harbaugh, I think, has proven himself to be an insufferable asshole. It should be no shock that he's having issues getting along with a leadership group of an organization.
The problem is: he's a fantastic football coach and he's a Michigan Alumnus. If either of those things weren't true I'd hate him. Unfortunately, he's our kinda asshole. That being said, I'd say the chances of him ever returning to coach at Michigan are hovering right around the same as the odds that we reanimate Fielding Yost and bring him back to coach.

|34 weeks 3 days ago||from a former Lions fan and Detroiter who's been away for years:||
This team has no guts and no brains. Oodles of talent and even it a decent coach will make huge strides with this team. Scwartz is a complete knucklehead (as indicated by his tantrum with the fans yesterday).
This team should have had the division wrapped weeks ago...They were 6-2 when Rodgers and Cutler got hurt...they've won 1 game since. Talk about a blown opportunity.
I don't kow if BOB is the answer or not....but I would think this job should be the pick of the litter if/when it comes open. They are the closest of all the jobs likely to be open to having success.

|35 weeks 3 days ago||If it were my call anything||
If it were my call anything less than a 2nd round playoff appearance is shitcan time. He's no control over his players and they blew a prime opportunity to coast to a division title. They should be 3 games up right now with 3 to go. This team is seriously underachieving.
I bet barrinng an 0fer hes back. same ole lions afterall...
|35 weeks 3 days ago||if you're trying to make the||
if you're trying to make the playoffs this year in the NBA you're doing it wrong. Half the conference is deliberately trying to tank it. You're not giong to get any ping pong balls in a super strong draft and you're only marginally closer to competing with Indiana and Miami. There is MAYBE one to-be superstar on that team and a bunch of B+ players.
|35 weeks 6 days ago||I just have a tough time||
I just have a tough time believing that both Martin AND Diaco followed Kelly to multiple stops and passed up on other good opportunities to stay with Kelly (rumored Diaco was offered Wiscy job last year) but now all of a sudden they're leaving because they can't stand him. I'm sure Kelly is a tough guy to get a long with some of time (lots of coaches are) but if he were a total asshole and an insufferable human being, I doubt he'd have highly thought of guys (like Diaco, at least) following him around the country to work for him.
|35 weeks 6 days ago||I understand the meme and||
I understand the meme and where it came from...
but this is his fourth school where he's had good success...can we knock it off with the 'Kelly is a moron and people must hate to associate with him." Chuck Martin has been with Kelly for a LONG time. Diaco worked for him multiple times.
Its not as if he's losing coordinators every year or tons of transfers. They've had a lot of success as a group, both are young enough to move on...they're leaving because they're both good coaches, not because Kelly is an ahole.

I successfully avoided this damn song for its entire existence until a few weeks ago. One of the sports talk shows I listen to here in Houston has a funny tradition where they play really horribawful music on Fridays for bumper music and I was subjected.
My ear virginity will never be restored.
|37 weeks 2 days ago||if you go back and watch||
if you go back and watch every offensive snap (its on the tubez) you'll see at least 1/3 of these yards come from unforced errors (blown coverage, needless over pursuit, misalignment) another 1/3 from guys who just seemed to MAKE PLAYS (broken tackles, leaping over a corner) and the last 1/3 from good play calls. You don't get kudos for the first when you don't do any line checks. I won't tear Al to shreds, this was pretty good all in all...But you can't analyze this game in a vacuum...Al has sucked hard all year long; one decent game does not overcome the eye-bleach inducing four game run we just had. It was above average for Al below for most other OCs
|37 weeks 2 days ago||Nice write up Seth, really enjoyed this piece.||
This is my biggest issue with MANBALL. Its not necessarily that spread is better than manball its that most manball coaches go back to the 3 yards and a cloud of dust "I know what I'm running, you know what I'm running but I'll force my will and you won't stop it."
Such a neaderthalic (yea, that's not a word, I don't think) way to play football. Guys who run the spread are more likely to build constraints into their system (or so it seems)...maybe its a generational thing?
Anyone more well versed in a functional manball team have good examples of manball with constraints built in? I can't say I'm well enough versed in playcalling theory to be able to see it myself.
I'd be okay with an offense that wears manball clothes (2TEs, I form, lots of under center) if it thought like Art Briles/Holgo/C. Kelly/RR.
Running an offense that is dependent on out-talenting your opponent is not practical anymore.
