Looking forward to what Peppers does on the field this year out of the LB/hybrid position. Sacks and TFLs are a guarantee, based on what Dr. Blitz's linebackers did at BC previously.
More national attention is sure to follow if Pep scores a few times on offense. Heisman is not out of the question.
...who's to say Burke would be this good without the experience he gained being "forced" to play after Morris left? He would've gotten a year of learning the offense behind Morris, but doing beats watching 9 times out of 10.
I went to that FSU game with my dad (I was 11 at the time)... On the walk back to the car after the game, Dad bought a "F*** Florida State" shirt from a street vendor, which didn't please my mom upon our return home. I think he ended up giving it to one of his co-workers the next Monday. Wish I still had it, though.
Personally, I love the idea of lining Gardner up at WR. Not only would it keep him involved & loose should Denard get dinged, it puts another playmaker on the field. With his athleticism and grasp of the offense already, you'd think he'd be ready to go right away (with some minor position coaching). Why have him just burning eligibility on the bench?
The odds of both Denard & Gardner being hurt at the same time is a situation I'd be willing to roll the dice on.
It would've been interesting to see what would've happened had we just hired a new DC and seen what RichRod could've done with another year... Cuz damn. The offense was working & would've been even better this year.
Without Hoke, though, I doubt we would've gotten a DC at Mattison-level. So... there's that.
I am excited about the future, though, because I think if we're going to be the defensive team it looks like we'll be 3-4 years down the road, the offensive playmakers will follow. Kids just want to win, and defense is a huge part of that (obviously).
I know C-Webb could smooth some things over right now by owning up to everything that happened, but I don't see it happening. His non-admission has gone on too long and the rift between him and the school is too large now. I hope I'm wrong, though... When the sactions are overwith and he can associate with UM again, I hope they have a big reunion together & can just be the group of brothers they started out as.
I wish he'd just told the truth about it all back when Jalen did -- things would've been a lot different.
...but I still find it unfortunate that RR, a decent, good man who was a successful football coach and obviously cared tons about his players and their families, was not afforded the same kind of welcome, support and inclusion by former players and the media that we are all seeing on display this week for Brady Hoke.
Agreed. Honestly, when the search started, I was hoping for another year of Rodriguez with a different DC if we couldn't get Harbaugh. RichRod's offense with even an AVERAGE defense? That sounded pretty good. But the more I hear about Hoke & the level of acceptance he's already receiving here, the more I think this might not be so bad. Rodriguez, even if he'd won, wouldn't have been "one of the guys," which proved cancerous from the beginning. Hoke's hire has already seemed to bring everyone back together somewhat -- shifting the team from "us against the world (past players included)" to being a big Michigan family again.
RichRod may have had a higher ceiling (now we'll never know), but a little stability across the program feels pretty nice for a change.
Hoke's overall W-L record, for me, matters less than his records in the years before he "stepped up" to different programs. He (1) started with lesser teams/talent, (2) built them up, (3) got noticed & (4) moved on. But at UM, if logic serves, he's (1) inheriting talent that he could only dream about at BSU/SDSU, (2) should be able to improve the D (build the team), (3) get noticed, and then (4) NOT GO ANYWHERE. If it works out, that sounds pretty good, no?
With Harbaugh, it would've been 1-3 and then GTFO.
I tend to agree.... Miles, while his O might be a better fit to our current situation than Hoke's, is still a wack-o with lots of baggage. Baggage doesn't bode well in A2. I'll pass.
I don't care if he just had a heart attack, I hate Dantonio. He's an arrogant bastard.
Now that that's out of the way...
I think the score made things look worse than they were. Yes, our defense has work to do and yes, MSU played better today.... But one of the reasons we're always in the game (and why he wasn't taken out -- even after 3 picks) is because Denard can get us points QUICK. Yeah, today he maybe forced things a little bit and it hurt us. But after what he's done so far this year, I don't know how people can get on here & talk about him being benched for "struggling" going forward. He's still lightning in a bottle, man. A little more touch on his passes in the redzone and it would've been a different story today.
Fitz Toussaint just can't seem to stay free of the injury bug, can he? Hope that's not his legacy going forward.... I'd like to see more big runs out of him like the one from the BG game (even though he got caught from behind).
I've seen a couple different instances where the lack of the wings on the helmet was misinterpreted by reporters with no clue. Like Tate and the others would take them off themselves just to be diva-licious? Think it over, folks.
You gotta think Gardner will get a RS, with Tate/Denard seemingly the guys at QB. Can't think of a situation where DG would be needed over the other two at this stage in the game. I'd hate to waste a year of his eligibility just so he can play a few snaps -- I'd rather he redshirt, and be on the sidelines ready to go if one of the other two got nicked*.

That's the good stuff!
I appreciate that umbig11!
I remember playing Morenci back when I played... Not sure if they still do or not. I think that was the only Michigan team we played back then.
Of course you've heard of Edgerton, Northwest Ohio's boomingest village!
Yep, Rockets is still here. And the African American portraits started through a job in another state... Just brought it back over the border. :)
LOL at Pascal... Small world!

Great work! Can't wait to put it to use!
The old ones were gross, too, IMO. Keep it simple, Adidas.
Could not agree more. Hideous. Doesn't add anything to the design... more distracting than anything.
Well done, sir!
Whatever UA guy in charge of replying to comments on the YouTube video said it was a hat tip to the old James Bond film.
i.e. HIDEOUS
My thoughts on BOTH teams...
Hopefully we can replace a few of the banners, too!

Just my 2¢.
Bert > Fiddy.

Can't we get a "tutor" to follow these asses around and be the DD or hood-slide-acrosser guy? JEEEEZ.
What would you do for Gerald Ford's?

Happy trails Tim! Thanks for all the hours you logged here. Much appreciated.
Too bad Fred Jackson isn't right all the time.
The "filed under" categories are (most times) hiliarious... I always get a chuckle outta them. (FYI)

That highlight video is just nasty. HR-run after HR-run. He's got long strides like dear ol' dad.

I'm sure the D was told not to clock the QBs. Wouldn't surprise me if Van Slyke eased up there since he was so close to the goal line anyway.

*Knock on wood.
I was wondering how long it would take to see a jab at the background pastries in the photo. Not. Long.
