They're moving to Plymouth, not Boston...or even Grand Rapids. I think recruiting will be minimally affected.
|1 day 19 hours ago||I dunno who came first||
But the hilarity and short term high of Raback's post made it more memorable for me. Plus it rolls off the...keyboard.
|1 day 19 hours ago||Ha no||
But autocorrect exists now. I raback it. Is Megan Fox still desirable? Last I saw her was "This is 40," so I'll take it.
|1 day 23 hours ago||Gone||
Should he go? That's up for debate. Is he gone? Yes. I will Barack that.
|3 days 3 hours ago||Sanity||
For the sake of our sanity? If your sanity depends on who is coaching Michigan, you need a wake up call. R-E-L-A-X. His bed is made and he'll be gone soon. Don't go insane because it might be next Monday instead of tomorrow. Football is a game, let's all chill out and over invest in basketball instead

If you're in Ann Arbor, I encourage you to layer up as if you were boarding a boat in the Arctic Circle. There is no Dave Brandon anymore. This team - especially our seniors - deserve a show of support from the fans. I know it's not that simple for anybody, but I would hate for them to go out in front of a half-full Michigan Stadium after such a roller coaster career. Go Blue.
|1 week 1 day ago||Hoke||
You have unreasonable expectations of Hoke. He gathered all the info possible, and made a decision based on that. Clark is currently in jail - it may not be as easy as a quick phone call to speak to him.
|1 week 5 days ago||Great work||
The first post (main page or board) that I've been 100% pleased with. Very well said, and it's the truth.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Carr like||
Are we still saying that like its a bad thing? How many programs win 10 games a year and conference championships fairly consistently? Very very few. How many do better than that? Just Alabama.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||You're right||
But we fired the AD we hate, and we're 2-0 since then (and playing marginally better...I know, I know, it's relative). Plus our basketball team is established, and we have the talent and foundation for a quick turnaround with a good coaching hire.
I agree that we're our own worst enemy, but I think we're already working on the remedy for that. Therefore I think this OP has a fair question. I'll take OSU tonight. My Spartan brother sent me a video of a newspaper calling MSU one game away from being a national power, and flipped to the next page where Michigan and Northwestern were "desparate programs fighting for a bowl." I'd love to point out that pride comes before that fall tomorrow. Also, taking shit about Michigan on the eve of your biggest game in the program's recent history? Classic Sparty.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||Hey man||
I never said I wanted to keep Hoke. I just think how the team has played consistently over the past 18 games is a better reason to fire him than whatever he did today. At some point I just get sick of piling on and blaming every last thing on Hoke. I think our coaching was fine today. Gardner's turnovers are comedy, and completely random as part of a gameplan.
To the above poster who commented on 5* QBs who haven't developed under Hoke...well, there's Devin. Not exactly statistically significant, considering Hoke didn't recruit him. Shane (who's a true sophomore) might be too early to rule out, but he's not looking great either. Bellomy was a last minute recruit and I Recruiting rankings don't guarantee success, and we all know how much the "it factor" is part of the position. I think his biggest mistake was not recruiting anybody above Shane, because it would be nice to have a junior availble as an option to challenge our physically battered RS Senior QB who seems to lack any QB instincts, and our True Sophomore rocket arm who missed his senior year of HS football and has played under two coordinators at UofM already. Finding the right QB is as much luck as it is recruiting. Hopefully Speight or Malzone has "it"
So fire Hoke because of his awful record on the road, or inability to compete with his rivals, or his loyalty to Fred Jackson and Darrell Funk, or his old fashioned approach to running a program. The coaches haven't gotten the job done. But they're not responsible for everything, and the offensive execution falls on the guys who are supposed to well, execute...
|2 weeks 3 days ago||I don't know||
Morris doesn't seem like a fantastic option based on 1) what we've seen in his limited opportunities, and 2) the fact that he's not even on the coaches minds.
I think the purpose of my comment was that, as much as I agree we need a fresh start in the coaching staff, I can't sit here after this game and point at the coaches and say "that's why we're not good!" They've had some clock management hiccups in different games. The special teams personnel is a coaching error. But by and large I think our team is what it is because we have no viable option at the most important position on the field. He is literally a turnover machine.
I don't want to give our team too much credit, but with the Big Ten what it is, our defense a legitimate B+ (lacks a shutdown corner...Hi Jabrill!), and our O-Line improving...I think we could have been a 9-10 win team if we had a "game manager" at QB.
Speight and Malzone have that potential at the very least. I'm not ready to give up on Shane, but he's looking like a rocket arm without QB instincts.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||Speight||
We've seen RS Freshmen win the damn heisman. Speight can be a saving grace, and even Malzone has the "moxie" that might make him a viable option as an early enrollee freshman. After all, they'll all start on even footing with (another) (likely) new coordinator. But I do agree -- if Morris doesn't have "it," that's a shame. I do remember Dilfer being unimpressed with his overall makeup at Elite 11 camps. He's a rifle arm, but being a QB is much more than physical talent.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||Hoke||
The guy isn't exactly crushing it as our coach, I get it. But we won today, and I don't see any glaring coaching errors as the reason we can't score. It all comes back to QB play. I can't think of a winning team without a good QB, and we happen to have one of the most mistake prone quarterbacks piloting our offense.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||Gardner||
Devin Gardner handcuffs the offense. We had great push with the offensive line at times, and ran the ball fairly well. Devin didn't face any more pressure than a QB should expect. But he continues to turn the ball over, stare down receivers, and throw late to our open guys.
Great kid...but he is a huge reason we can't score.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||Coaching||
I don't know that Gardner's deficiencies are "coachable." He really handcuffs our offense. We ran the ball fine, but he is turnover prone and seconds late on his throws. Or Funchess drops them when they are on time. So, based on that....I think the coaching was fine today. We won.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Huh?||
That makes him underperforming? We're 4-5 with maybe one quality win. I can argue you're statement is true about 90% of SEC teams compared to ours this season. The poster above has a legitimate point about him being Lloyd-like, but he's a been a consistent winner in the hardest league in college football.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||Messiah||
I saw him at the App State game this year, so I'm curious why he would omit that from his answer on how many games he's been to...just saying.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||Dramatic response.||
You're not wrong. But are the academics going to plummet if we pay our coach $8million? No way. All I'm saying is given a decision between Harvard and Michigan, I'd pick Michigan every time and campus life is the reason (Harvard is better academically).
|3 weeks 2 days ago||Your last bullet||
Your last bullet makes me sick. Football is the front door to the university. How many out-of-staters apply to and attend Michigan partially because of the promise of big time football and tailgates is not an insignificant amount. How many kids grow up idolizing Michigan because of football isn't either. I'm one of them. They don't have to be mutually exclusive. Big time college football is part of American fabric and Michigan needs to be up there. Maybe "UofM" should ask their big donors and gauge the alumni how they feel about football. This blog would be a good place to start...biggest sports blog on the Internet or something, right.

I'm sure this will be poorly received by the "don't crush his dreams" crowd - and I will preface it again by saying we are ALL rooting for Austin to play meaningful basketball at. We are proud of how he's emerged from tragedy, and fortunate to have the opportunity share his story and cheer for him at UofM. I hope he accomplishes every goal he has for himself.
That said, I just want to comment on the facts, because this is the first film I've seen of Austin since he's injury (not counting the 3-pointer in HS which didn't tell us much). He's noticabably slower each of his teammates, and seems to still be working on his coordination. It's already impressive that he's been able to regain this level of athleticism after his injuries. And while I'm still rooting for him (see paragraph #1), this does help reinforce my hunch that he's headed towards a medical redshirt.
If he wants to play all four years and Beliein wants him to dress for every game, I'm 100% on board. This is my opinion, based on what my eyes were able to preceive. Only time will tell.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Get over it||
We need to get over it. In general, people get upset when other people have opinions that are opposite of their own. Are you surprised that the athletes liked Brandon? They had a totally different perspective of him. It's OK that they defend him, and OK that they blame "fans/muggles" for his resignation (because we are responsible). As for using the term, who cares.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Agree||
IN fact, I argue that it was the correct strategy. We're up 17-3 and will the ball after the half. IU can't drive on us. Our QB is a turnover machine. Putting him in an unnecessary fast break offense could give IU a TO, points, and momentum heading into the half. It was absolutely the right move. And we ultimately won by 24, so any arguments against that decision are moot during this game.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Come on||
He was getting healthy buzz before his injury, and has been this season. I'll bet he just wasn't the most productive back in practice. We don't have to blame them for everything. Great win today, Go Blue!
|3 weeks 3 days ago||This||
This is what we can do when we don't have field possession switching, offensive momentum crushing turnovers. Our defense keeps us in, and our offense can slowly gain confidence. Very happy for our guys today
|3 weeks 4 days ago||He's in charge||
He's in charge, but it's the players making the mistakes. Look at Nuss and tell me he's not extremely frustrated with the execution out there. He's had 6 months to erase whatever bad habits existed and teach his way. It's not easy. You can't place all the blame on him.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Frats||
Sort of like frats and GDIs. This is something we should get over, now.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||To be fair||
The blog does cite the news like 1000x more than the reverse. How many Sam Webb or Chengelis articles have we linked or block quoted?
|4 weeks 17 hours ago||Disagree||
Everyone, ESPECIALLY Fred Jackson must go.
But, to be serious, I wouldn't mind keeping Nussmeier. Yeah, we've been awful. But I can't blame him as a first year coordinator and some of the comedic turnovers or dropped passes we've had. He's had success elsewhere, and I like his demeanor. Basically I just believe he's a good coach despite this season.
I would keep GMat if he wanted to (and "Coach Harbaugh wanted him). But I see this as less likely than Doug staying. I feel like he and Jim would mesh well, and could see it as a good opportunity to jump to a HC job after 1-2 years. Plus, we wouldn't have to pay his buyout after 1 season.
|4 weeks 1 day ago||Wow||
Did you just guarantee Brandon gets fired, and give UofM enough reason to avoid paying his lofty buyout?
