"Fisher is running a nice, clean program down there." I get that his players have been twice arrested for non-violent (petty?) crimes but isn't this a leap? Fisher might be a dirty coach, but you can't possibly expect him to be responsible for the actions for all 85 guys at every moment. This kid screwed up and was suspended.

I appreciate you. You are much better than this blog perceives you as, even if you're not perfect as an AD.

1. MSU - conference game against little bro, who's owned us lately. Need to shift perception back to "normal"
|1 week 21 hours ago||MSU||
Seems like they're in the bridesmaid phase of building a program. UMHoops had it with near misses on Lubick, every Plumlee and Prather before landing our first big fish in McGary (not counting the late risers here). They've been turning the heads of a lot of top recruits. Another good season and who knows? Needless to say, we need to have a positive year on the field.

Nobody wanted to do that. Nik was probably cringing on the other side of the phone.
|1 week 3 days ago||Bias||
Granted I'm biased...but I though that Greece thoroughly outplayed Costa Rica with the exception of a slow motion sidewinding goal in in the 60th minute.
Either way -- the team that wins is the team that wins. Deserving it doesn't have anything it do with the outcome. Congrats to the Costa Ricans.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The Spurs have a vision and it wins championships. They basically drafted Boris Diaw -- who is a free agent. I would laugh at Anderson to any other team, but he fits what the Spurs want perfectly.
Unfortunate for Glenn. This is a very deep draft and he knew that when he entered. He'll hear his name soon and it's up to him to earn his spot.
|1 week 6 days ago||Extensions||
Potentially three first rounders. A chance at a fourth draftee. They're going to be talking a lot about Michigan tonight. The extensions for our assistants has been in the works for a couple of weeks. I applaud the tactical decision to release the news tonight. High schoolers will hear something like this:
"OKC takes Mitch McGary at #29. That's the third first rounder from Michigan, and the fifth in the last two years. Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. being the other two - fresh off successful rookie seasons that placed them on the All-Rookie Team. Tremendous talent development up there at UofM, and they've rewarded their assitant coaches with contract extensions through 2018."

Is the field flooded too? Not literally, but how wet/muddy are we talking?

Hoping for a Greek victory, but you can't win without scoring a goal soo....
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Basketball||
I'd be very surprised if he didn't pursue a pro career in Europe. Like stu and Zack, his resume is already impressive enough to open doors in the USA. Might as well play while you can (and save up to avoid medical debt).
|2 weeks 5 days ago||Kam||
Re: Kam. I don't think he can be shorter than his measured 6'8". That's measured at Jordan, and the NBA camps. While it might be a tad exagerrated (i.e. was it with shoes? Did they add the basketball player phantom inch?), his listed 6"8 is consistent with the other top prospects and whatever they're listed at. The fact that he looks tiny here is encouraging that DJ and Doyle are legitimately taller than 6'10"
I like it.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||No responsibility||
He's got all day to do whatever he wants. I'm sure he goes to the gym and is social. But all day leaves a lot of extra time for mind melting video games...or a Michigan obsession. It's the age of technology.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||This season||
Also adds to how important this season is for our coaches. I want Hoke to get two years regardless, but we need >8 wins and a good looking team. Otherwise, job security questions could cause any recruit - especially those who commit to our coaches and "loved" MSU - to get wandering eyes.
|3 weeks 9 hours ago||My brother||
My brother is a huge MSU fan. He once got steaming mad because I called MSU "Sparty," even though ESPN does it all the time, and it's the name of their mascot.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Seatbelt Warning?||
I just got thrown across the aisle into the lap of a pretty woman. I was not ready for this at all. This is a rare ocassion where the informative update will tell me a ton of stuff that I don't already know. I've heard his name, but looking forward to learning more about him.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||Has to?||
No he doesn't have to at all. But that doesn't mean he doesn't anyway. He'll always be a slimeball.
|4 weeks 21 hours ago||Morris, Harris, Chatman,||
Morris, Harris, Chatman, Sims, and Horford.
Morris is a pass-first point guard. While he didn't mesh with Harris as a Freshman, he didn't go into his cuccoon yet (sorry). I think he fits with scoring Manny in the backcourt. Chatman is supposedly a do-everything playmaker at the three. I like Sims and his ability to stretch at 4. He played a lot of center so he can bang if needed. Horford is all I need at center. He's a good shot-blocker, a good rebounder, and has an OK back to the basket game. I could slide this entire lineup up a slot if he got into foul trouble and I was forced to play Andrew Dakich. This lineup has tons of size and talent. Maybe not enough shooting, though.
|4 weeks 1 day ago||Manny||
Is it fair to call Manny a ball hog? Dude had a triple double once and has solid all around numbers despite playing with mostly scrubs - no offense. Sims was the only real Big Ten player, though Novak and Douglass later proved it.
|4 weeks 1 day ago||Hmm||
I didn't consider that. I guess it's possible, but it's the job of a coach or close friend to market a player. He's more than a fan trying to help with M recruiting. He's a rep of the player trying to enhance his options.
|4 weeks 1 day ago||IMO||
In my opinion, you should send the coaches a package. He's a 2017 with buzz so I wouldn't be surprised if they found him sooner than later - can't possibly ID everybody. But I know that coaches often send a highlight package to programs to get their player some eyes.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||Harris||
Oh well, can't get them all. Michigan will be fine. As for MSU - did anyone actually expect them to fall off the map? They're gonna continue to get talent. Our best will just have to beat their best.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||Darius Morris||
He was a consensus 4 star. Not a Kentucky, UNC, Kansas offer set but he was pursued by some very good programs. Maybe more but he was an early commit. Definitely not lightly recruited and I personally had very high expectations for him. The first "big" recruit Beilein grabbed.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Dude you're crazy||
You're way off. How could they call Morris new but steady without any significant PT? He'd be new but promising.
|4 weeks 6 days ago||Ahrens||
I agree with you that he could be a thorn in our side, but Michigan cannot possibly take them all. I feel comfortable with the guys we're pursuing and I'd rather see MSU pick up an Ahrens than a Brunson (not that they can't have both).
|5 weeks 15 min ago||Scenarios||
Scenario 1: Issac gets his waiver. We have 3-4 top level backs to help us win now. We win 9-10 games, program momentum turns around. Harris or Weber signs on because those guys will be juniors, pro ready tend to leave early, and there's still no '14 running back to play behind an O-Line with a ton of young talent in a Nuss offense that's proven it can feed multiple backs.
Scenario 2: Isaac doesn't get the waiver. Our talent is spread, as you wished. We don't get Harris or Weber, but there's always talent in the next class. Those guys aren't the end of running backs. Bird in hand vs two in the bush.
Scenario 3: It's scenario 2 combined with scenario 1. Talent is distributed, and Harris signs on because he's not scared of a depth chart and this is where he wants to be. He'll save his legs, develop his talent, and blow up as a junior.
Ty Issac is absolutely a good pickup, regardless of the Harris or Weber fallout. We need to win ASAP and only current Michigan players can make that happen.
|5 weeks 1 hour ago||Greece||
The Greece thing is pretty much accurate. They aren't going to win based on speed, or being more skilled or creative than their opponents. So they're content to play to their strengths - defense, playing smart soccer - hopefully stealing a goal somewhere along the way. It worked for them in 2004 and while they might not be threatening to win a World Cup, they've qualified for two since then...so I'd say they're still doing pretty good by Greek soccer standards.
Yeah, it's boring. But they know who they are.
|5 weeks 9 hours ago||Regarding 2015||
Reflex is that Issac might deter Harris or Weber. We didn't take a 14 back. And top level guys, especially running backs, shouldn't be intimidated by positional depth. It's going to exist everywhere. Wisconsin has loads, OSU picks up quality backs every year. MSU got a good one last year.
|5 weeks 5 days ago||And?||
That's a lot of what ameteur rapping is. Using a pre-existing beat, and changing your lyrics. I guess they do take credit for the beat, but there are some tweaks from the original John Legend track. They would certainly get sued if they tried to profit though.
|6 weeks 4 days ago||Depends||
Miami, sure. People there have other priorities. But cities like OKC, Portland, and San Antonio have awesome fans. Even cities with other stuff going on like Boston and Indy have damn good fans. Beyond that, it's just like college. Fans will show up to watch a winner. You can't possible argue that Indiana or Purdue football has an awesome atmosphere right now.
