A lot of great stories or thoughts on here so far.  One other option I would like to offer up is to look into becoming an official in that sport. You get to stay involved in the sport you love, you can recapture that thrill of being a part of a competition and performing in front of a crowd, and depending on the sport, there is likely a competitive framework for you to improve your skills, excel, and achieve higher levels.  Playing the sport at a high level usually gives an advantage to those seeking to work at higher levels. Plus, you can often continue refereeing in a sport much longer than you would be able to competitively play that sport. Other advantages include making a little extra side money, getting out of the regular work environment to get some fresh air and exercise, and providing a service to allow others to enjoy the same sport you did, since there are often official shortages in sports.

Wow, sounds like this guy got all the girls.

My guess is that he was also really good at basketball and making pancakes.

Had a short week due to my annual vacation with the kiddos to the Yooper homeland. And this weekend headed up to West Branch to do some floating down the river.  Bang Bang!

Based on the font and my quick glance at the first sentence, I thought the 'f' in shifty was a 't', and thought to myself that was not a very nice way to introduce an on-campus recruit.

stairs

And how many steps do you have to go up to get from 3rd level to 4th level? There doesn't appear to be enough risers, or maybe they are really steep stairs.

Potluck lunch at the office today

with some grilled burgers, then a fun weekend with the kiddos.

Bang bang!

you

left out the part about being Gustavo Fring's right hand man.

great,

thanks for reminding everyone about that (and his creepy grin)

Blaze

My buddy's wife worked with a guy they call Blaze. However, I think his nickname has more to do with his recreational habit than it does with any allegiance to a certain university.

FWIW, I almost had my ex-wife on board with the name Jalen when our first son was born.

KFC

Not only that, but he has cornered the market on CD sales in Indonesia!

What a sneaky SOB.

limb

going out on a limb here, but I would guess Minnesota and MSU are both happy with their seeding

agree on the convoluted comment

Will the officials have video replay of fouls that occur right around the 10:00 mark to see if said foul happens at 9:59, and is therefore awarded free throws, or happened at 10:00, fouls reset, and no FT's awarded?

I think the next evolution of this change is to have a 10 minute rolling limit on fouls. If you get 4 fouls in any ten minute rolling period, the player goes to the line.  Then we can get hockey style scoreboards that show the time remaining on the accumulated fouls and when they "drop off" and are no longer counted.

well...

Congrats on the big news (assuming you are speaking of an engagement ring, and assuming she says yes of course).

However, if you get engaged/married, good luck getting those free weekends.  Lol.

As for me, I am hosting a birthday sleepover for my middle school daughter and a bunch of her friends this weekend.  We are customizing chef hats and aprons, and then baking cupcakes.  Should be fun!

slightly restored?

So does that mean they are just going to add a halo around the upper edge of it?

What a great idea! The fans will love it!

Recruiting Coordinator Noah Joseph as Steve Yzerman

Yes

He is lying in the weeds.

agreed

No victory laps should be taken just yet.

But they are a hell of a lot of fun to watch!

Is this the line for CRISP?  I guess I better stand here then.

whine

I also liked how he spells out whine, just to be clear there were no alcoholic drinks involved.

Welcome

Welcome to the team, Larry.

Go blue!

so....

If astronauts hadn't gone to the moon....

maybe we, as a society, would be happier:

--

We've had 12 people on the moon. Ever since we've done that, you hear about people who get upset about little things in their life and they blame the fact we've been on the moon for their problems, as if there's a possible tie-in, you know? Like if their phone cord is all tangled up. "They can put a man on the moon, but they can't make a damn phone cord that won't bunch up...they can put a man on the moon!" maybe if we never did that, they'd be happy, huh? "Isn't that phone cord driving you crazy?" "oh, nah."

"We haven't even had a man on the moon yet. Why would I let something like this bother me? "

Peppers is not allowed to enter the NFL draft

until he beats MSU and OSU.

Am I doing this right?

username checks out

I also verified this with a guy on Counterstrike.

In all seriousness, good for Charles though.  What a great guy and wish him the best of luck in his new gig.

I don't always click on OT threads..

especially when they aren't really applicable to me (since my pole is already erect), but this time it certainly paid dividends.

Well done.

And if I could +1, I would.

Congrats

and Go Blue!

Happy Friday

Here come dat weekend!

you know what they say

Those who [leave but ultimately decide to] stay will be champions.

No sir, away! A papaya war is on.

West Quad

I applied together with someone who graduated a year ahead of me from the same high school, so they had sophomore status and were able to get the both of us to room together in West Quad. Was a nice way to get my preferred housing location. We were in Adams House, and then sophomore year I picked to room blind and stayed in West Quad but went to Williams on a co-ed floor, and made a bunch of new friends there too.  It worked out well, but I agree with poster above. Adams house was filled with freshman, but Williams was not, and was groups of people who knew each other from previous year(s)

I'm here

Was that planned or purely coincidental?

The glamour and excitement..

of making this my first post is now reduced because I didn't finish this before the other one got posted.

Oh well, here it is anyway.
