It was what happened next that made the story complete somehow:
"That wasn't the end, sadly. The suspect then left the store, heading toward Warrensville Center and Colony Rd., when the manager caught up with her. She then threatened to pepper spray him, told him she had AIDS and "would spit on him," and later, when the police arrived, said she had colon cancer and bed bugs, before again pulling down her pants."
You can always opt for the appropriate help, of course, but sometimes...

Is Price's contract up at the end of this season, out of curiosity? I believe that he had one year of arbitration left and stood to make $20 million-ish next year potentially. Either way, I do like the trade because it reinforces the starting rotation, but like others, I actually did like Austin and Smyly and what they contributed to this team.
I don't think I've ever seen a player get pulled in mid-game because of a trade though - has that ever happened? I seemed to always believe they were usually simply told later on and allowed to complete the game they were in. I could obviously be wrong in that belief, of course.
|6 hours 27 min ago||Shift In Meaning...||
Like others, I can't wince at Michigan's position here - I actually would have been surprised (pleasantly, mind you, but still) if we had been ranked.
That being said, however, do keep in mind one important shift in the meaning / weight of the poll now that we are no longer under the cruel thumb of the BCS. The Coaches' Poll, while it may undoubtedly sway the Committee, no longer has any predetermined, cleanly measurable effect on what happens bowl-wise at the end of the season. This poll, however, still determines who gets the Crystal Football, which will still get handed out as one of many prizes in addition to the new NC Trophy.
|7 hours 20 min ago||Read The Electronic Copy...||
First, allow me to say that the e-copy came in handy during the down time in this past storm we lived through here at work...and that was the second reading for me.
As for me, it continues a trend where the only way that I get to see my name in print is through the voluntary contribution of my own money (I'll go with Hawaiian War Chant next year, as opposed to Temptation), but as I obviously enjoy the place enough to help moderate it, I figured this was a good project. Next year, however, I do want to see "Letters From Bolivia" as a side column somewhere so the mods can summarize their more colorful escapades.
|7 hours 52 min ago||Loose Rumblings...||
All that seems to be on Twitter regarding Detroit right now are loos rumblings that they've spent perhaps the last week or so scouting bullpens, so if that has any meat to it, it seems likely that whoever we would get - if anyone - would be for that purpose. MLB Trade Rumors also posted a brief snippet on how the Tigers are impressed enough with Eugenio Suarez that Jose Iglesias might be a sell-low sort of option, if you will, but nothing firm on that front either. If DD has something in mind, it is certainly being played close to the vest right now.
|8 hours 10 min ago||This Ends Here...||
As I mentioned in another thread, it's pretty clear to me now that your assurances that the act would clean up after the previous ban were not in earnest and that this is, in the end, the sort of person that you are - gratuitously mean and not in the least sensitive, not to mention seeming to revel in the negative attention. Let me put it another way, you will not be able to reply to this post as Clark Griswold.
|9 hours 3 min ago||What It Means...||
We've waited rather long but the Countdown series is finally going again, and with these, we can see football on the horizon now. Fall camp begins Sunday and hopefully it is the beginning of a great season.
What it also means, of course, is that anything you have that's interesting and OT is something you may want to get out of your system in the next couple weeks before the door again shuts on OT posts.
|10 hours 12 min ago||Also A Freshman...||
The 1996 season was the first one I got to experience as a Michigan student myself (having experienced many before that as a fan growing up), and we won that game 20-14, as I recall. It seemed like a lot of offense for what was, as you said, a veritable monsoon, but we were just that talented.
I remember Clarence Williams put up over 100 yards on the ground that day, and Dreisbach threw for nearly 300 yards himself. Strangely, the only one of our three TDs that came from the ground was scored by Scott himself, I believe.
BC's quarterback? Some dude named Matt Hasselbeck, as I recall.
|11 hours 24 min ago||If By Age...||
From an age / eligibility standpoint, that's true of several players, but if it is thought about from a stability / experience standpoint, it's sort of an accurate description. Almost regardless of how long they've physically been here, they all began more or less on the same first page when Nussmeier walked in the door, and several of them are now learning their second (perhaps third if we assume that Denard / post-Denard by itself represents a philosophical shift) offense.
|11 hours 35 min ago||You Serious, Clark?||
You know, you had told me after the last ban that you would sit back for a bit and observe the culture of the board as I suggested, and this was so this incarnation would not end as frightfully as the last one did. That being said, misplaced anger and trolling that is not only not amusing but is in fact abusive towards others tells me that you were simply paying me a bit of lip service and had no sincere intention of being anything better or more civilized than what you are right now. Criticisms are one thing, but what you've done here is win no friends and...well...a previous mishap, if you will, earned you your current point total.
|22 hours 32 min ago||The AL.com Story...||
....is linked right here (LINK)
According to this, he has indeed finished his degree at Alabama so he will be eligible right off the bat at CSU. It also mentions, and I didn't think about it before, McElwain was Alabama's OC when they nabbed Hart in 2011.
EDIT: Per the response to me, I missed the link - I blame insufficient light in the den plus beer.
|1 day 18 min ago||VHS Indeed...||
I was actually thinking more about recording it on Betamax using the TV / VCR combo that Sony Electronics put out about 35 years ago. It has a 12-inch Trinitron screen and everything.
On a more serious note, it is premieres like these that make me yearn for the days of Mystery Science Theater 3000 again, as I like to think that they would be all over this film.
|1 day 5 hours ago||As Well As This...||
I believe that Ty Isaac will be wearing #32 on offense, so hopefully he can channel this #32 and distribute the power equally amongst the RB corps. That would make for some big smiles in Ann Arbor certainly.
Glad that that the wait is not much longer for football though. I should start working on the "end of OT Season" post, although we'll still have a couple weeks yet.
|1 day 6 hours ago||About The Sod...||
Bush Turf - the contractor - said that they were trying to have this done by Thursday and that the department basically wants the field back to football by Monday, so the window is not huge for them to undo what they are doing at all. I believe they also said something about repurposing most of the sod, which makes me think that it leaves Michigan with them early next week, although I could use some of it in one spot out back, that's for sure.

"If that happens, there might be a unique bowl game available, just outside Los Angeles: the Rose Bowl."
This would be awesome for both Clark and his mother if this was the game she got to see of all the games. We shall see what happens during the season, of course, but that was a very moving article, I thought, and hopefully he can get her up to Ann Arbor to see a game and put together a great season for himself so he give back as he wants.
Thanks for sharing this.

"We appreciate our friends from Ohio making sure we are compliant with NCAA rules," a sarcastic Muschamp said last year when asked about Meyer reporting the Gators. "They certainly know a little bit about NCAA rules."
I remember this coming up in the past actually. Say what you will about Muschamp, he still gets a big +1 from me for this particular bit of snark.
That was a pretty nice read, I thought. Thanks for sharing that.
|1 day 7 hours ago||Not True Indeed...||
Really, what you've said is not true in the slightest, and indeed, here you are again trying to have this "conversation" in a thread where there was no call for it. Your remark was intended to troll and provoke people so that you could pretend to have a discussion which, as others have pointed out, is simply circular and futile when it involves you. I could send you to Bolivia right now, but I am sure "1929" would appear within hours and they would bear an eerie resemblance to you. The fact that you tried this same shtick under a diffrent username is evidence that you are not the least bit interested in getting along with anyone. If you believe that inflammatory posts are the only sort that get attention here, your opinion of this blog and this fanbase are pitifully low.
|1 day 9 hours ago||I Noticed That...||
It is either Notre Dame fans who believe they are the One True Independent or there are some serious sour grapes eminating from the Mountain West faithful, the conference that BYU football left a few years ago. Other than that, with the sole exception of Utah State perhaps wanting the Old Wagon Wheel back, I can't think of anyone BYU has so offended.

|1 day 10 hours ago||Good News Really...||
As for what Clark in particular said, it sounds like they've made a comprehenesive effort to address they very thing that Clark himself pointed out almost in passing after the BWW Bowl, where he said something to the effect that they had lost the will to play "as a family". We talked about it much here and it is great to see that get addressed as I think it goes almost as far as coaching and practice in getting these guys to perform 100% every week.
|1 day 10 hours ago||Meanwhile On BTN...||
Well, those far outstrip the compelling football on BTN that same afternoon. Consider:
- Western Kentucky at Illinois
- Western Illinois at Wisconsin
- Howard at Rutgers
...and that's just the noon slate. The last one might be an upset special, given the conference's luck.
|1 day 12 hours ago||Intriguing Statement...||
As I recall, there was a story at the beginning of June that all the paperwork needed to complete the transfer to Nebraska was filed by Stringfellow and then the bomb was dropped about three weeks after that, the news that he would be playing for Ole Miss. It would be morbidly amusing - if nothing else - to know what transpired in those three weeks beyond Pelini's startlingly frank evaluation of the parents in this situation. In other words, I am intrigued now, Coach Pelini - tell us more while we're on the subject.....
|1 day 23 hours ago||Quite Agree...||
I agree, and it isn't even just on the page mentioned, but as one might suspect, Robinson and Gardner show up numerous times in the 20 or so pages of records. It actually serves as an excellent reminder that, while it seems like the team is wandering through the woods sometimes, it continues to produce some great leaders and prolific contributors.

Like some, I sort of had this quizzical look when I saw the title of this thread, but that's sort of where Thomas is going with this if you read the full Plain Dealer article. Here's where I think he starts to flesh out his idea a bit, if you will:
"I think it's that attitude and that swagger that demands respect. And, he also goes and backs it up out on the field. He throws the ball to the right person. He's doing things and getting everybody on the same page. That's just as much the role of a quarterback as throwing touchdown passes."
If it were meant to be a straight comparison complete with in-game performance and stats, then...yeah...
|2 days 7 hours ago||Hard To Say...||
It's hard to really say what any of it means for the offensive considering that inside zone blocking is part of the package that comes with inside zone running, or I believe the two come as a set. To that end, it probably doesn't say anything about Kugler and might say that, in the experimentation that they've undoubtedly done to date, they like Glasgow's size and footwork better at center (Kugler might still be #2 for all we know). It will be interesting to see what the "depth chart" for the offensive line (which may or may not be the depth chart for the offensive line) looks like going into the week of Appalachian State, that's for sure.
|2 days 9 hours ago||Good Work...||
Good work! I don't know if you calculated it, but I would be curious to know the R-squared values for both the correlation between upper- and underclassmen percentage and overall winning percentage. I expect that you have some interesting evidence to support the "youth" aspect of last year's performance (surely a dynamic issue) which some (a seemingly vocal but small minority) seem to dismiss very easily.
|2 days 9 hours ago||Other Offers Included...||
Asmar Bilal has a rather long list of offers, now that I look at 247Sports.
Among his current Big Ten offers outside of Michigan, there is Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska, Minnesota, Northwestern, Wisconsin and although no offer, there might have been some nominal interest from Purdue. Outside of the Big Ten, there is Duke, Kentucky, Lousiville, Missouri, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Western Michigan (as an interesting outlier), plus a few others.
|2 days 12 hours ago||If I Understand...||
I believe I see where the OP is coming from here and I tend to agree at present. While I believe a good performance this year is important for maintaining some of the recruiting momentum as well as for other reasons, I wouldn't think that Brady Hoke is on the "hot seat" by even most media standards. The person whose evaluation would make the determination, if you will, has said that he is not even in the same neighborhood right now as the so-called "hot seat", so that's perhaps the word we must accept right now. So, to answer - is there drama being created around Michigan where there likely is none? I would say, right now, "yes".
|2 days 21 hours ago||Interesting Development...||
I don't have much doubt that Donald Sterling would mount an appeal, but the fact that the order states that Shelly Sterling can proceed with the sale with no delay pretty much regardless of what her husband tries makes me think that this might have been the final obstacle. Especially in light of some of the stern warnings given by certain personnel should the name Sterling remain associated with the team longer than absolutely necessary, if you will, I am thinking that the attempt to offload the Clippers is a relatively quick one.
