Now, these are the moments that make MGoBlog stand out among sports blogs. Well done indeed, sir. This one may need to get either bumped back to the top at some point or otherwise enshrined somehow. I would expect no less from this fanbase on a night so brimming with anticipation for all of us.

You know, for a series or two, it seemed like Jacksonville State had MSU a little off-balance and not playing quite like they normally would, but all is as you might expect now and the Gamecocks have settled into simply taking their lashings with a side of blown coverage. Incidentally, Michigan State is approaching 500 yards of offense at this point, whereas Jacksonvill State still has 42 to get before they manage 200 yards.
|5 hours 43 min ago||From Another Angle...||
The statistics nerd inside of me would like to say that we computed the observed values and dervied the distribution of our test statistic, and it turns out that p is less than the given significance, thus the null hypothesis - that Michigan would NOT win the championship - can be successfully rejected in this particular study.
|5 hours 57 min ago||A Bit Lackluster...||
So, that was something of a lackluster first half from the Huskies - they gave up 329 yards to BYU, 28 points and 7.48 yards per play on average. For their considerably stunted offensive effort, 158 yards on only 31 plays, which comes out to about 5.10 yards per play. Taysom Hill is coming up big here, comprising about 70% of BYU's yards gained right now.

I believe the specification always was that when Rose Bowl was not part of the playoff bracket, which would happen now and again under the system as it is currently devised, the Rose Bowl would revert to its traditional arrangement, which we should know well around here, of course. I believe the same is true of all bowl tie-ins so long as that bowl is not in the playoff rotation in a given year.
|7 hours 26 min ago||Quick Question...||
I do have to ask this - is "HAHAHAHAHA Connecticut" an appropriate reply to turning it over and then yielding the 2nd touchdown of the game as a result of your FIRST offensive play? I found it funny actually, but only because I still think of last year and our game sometimes.
|8 hours 33 min ago||Sidebar Stuff...||
It's sidebar to all this, of course, but TeamRankings looked at projections of Appalachian State's toughest and easiest games (5 of each). Here's their estimate:

Elliot Mealer does the most amazing Hoke impression
This one made it to the board sometime yesterday - if you didn't see it though, do so. It is very funny, I thought, and eerily dead on.
|11 hours 41 min ago||I Thought About It...||
Hello: Darian Roseboro
It was originally titled something else and changed after the announcement, but also after the dedicated Hello post had been created. As there was already a thread created for announcement / speculation, we'll run with the dedicated thread though it was the second one created. No offense to 1484, it was a strange situation boardwise.
|11 hours 53 min ago||A Nice Addition...||
Well, if there was a better way for Michigan to slide into its first football weekend, I would like to know what it is. Picking up another highly-touted recruit is definitely an excellent start, a nice addition to the 2015 class. Welcome to Michigan, Darian Roseboro!
|12 hours 5 min ago||Note To OP...||
This will be the announcement / decision thread as soon as the OP changes it, so we'll keep this one for that purpose and then remove further threads as duplicates (save for the obligatory Hello thread, if needed). Don't worry about it, and it is a fair distinction, I believe, between the threads which are more speculative and the threads which cover the event itself.
|12 hours 39 min ago||Had The Same Thought...||
I had that same thought when I read that portion of the release. I am a huge fan of a good chili and some cornbread, having enjoyed it at some tailgates even, but unless there is some very unique way to package it all, it is hard for me to imagine trying to enjoy it while actually at your seat. I suppose I might test one of them for the hell of it anyway, but I do agree that some of the option sound a little stadium-unfriendly.....but they also sound rather good.
|12 hours 52 min ago||The Upvotes...||
I think that once the vote is recorded, it's not editable, or at least that was my understanding of the interface. Actually, I thought Brian removed the self-upvote thing soon after the old system was restored, so if you did that yourself, something is definitely amiss with the permissions around here (don't let that get out though *looks around secret informant style*)
My stories of Romulus Middle School are a bit limited to many of the staff being longtime family friends (I went to school in Northville and Saline), but I know many of them well and we can definitely talk about some of those folks all the same.
|13 hours 27 min ago||I've Seen It....||
You know, I've probably walked by on a few occasions but didn't stop at it, but I might have to do that if I have a moment between trying to keep my son out of trouble and everything else if it is indeed an open invite. If I make it, I promise not to moderate posts in person, of course.
|14 hours 41 min ago||Brighter Side Perhaps...||
Maize'n'Brew is a little more upbeat, at least as of yesterday, if anyone would like a different perspective - HERE
They do post Mike Farrell's tweets in which he seems to indicate that NC State is a legitimate threat to any shot Michigan might have, but they also mention that Roseboro himself has given indications that Michigan has been the favorite for a while. In any case, the only person who really knows will let us know in a couple hours.
|14 hours 48 min ago||Not Quite...||
Meta: page down feature for MGoBoard finally working again NO IT ISN'T!!!
To StephenRKass' point, I also experienced the page down feature working for a bit, but it has only been sporadic for me after that. I know relative success using it, for me anyway, has been correlated somewhat to board traffic. Either way, it doesn't seem like we're quite there yet sadly.
|15 hours 21 sec ago||Even Recruits See It...||
You're pretty much right on in the OP - I think even recruits see this in Hoke, that this is who he really is and it is not a pitch or tactic. We sort of throw around "real recognize real" as a joke sometimes around here, but it is something of a truism throughout the culture of the program right now. This trait of Hoke's by itself bolsters the quality of the incoming talent and has while he's been here, not to mention other things about the program and staff.
|15 hours 10 min ago||For Now...||
I've got Chrome on a new-ish HP laptop running Windows 8 and it is working sporadically at the moment. I might try dumping the cache and see if it is just older copies of pages hanging around for the moment. I have a suspicion it is not exactly fixed though.
What I hope it means, once it is fixed, is a slight reduction in redundant threads created since it will be easier to search the first few pages ideally. During the season, the first 2-3 pages is roughly 48-72 hours of threads, which is a fair baseline at least for some topics.
|15 hours 15 min ago||Fixed It...||
Yeah, I didn't think about it when I first saw the thread, but it does open the door to scams from what I understand, so I did remove the photo since the barcode was visible.
|15 hours 24 min ago||Fred Jackson...||
I will say that Fred Jackson writing about his epxeriences at Michigan as well as his earlier experiences would probably be a rather interesting thing to read. His perspective on all the changes that he has seen in Ann Arbor, which I don't think he's ever really talked about but in snippets, would be unique, I imagine.
|17 hours 59 min ago||I Am Here...||
I am here, and today, by here I mean I am at home. I had taken this day some time ago to get into season mode, but it nearly didn't happen because of the storms that rolled through here on Tuesday. Thankfully, we have done well enough with restorations that I was told that I wouldn't be needed and that I could have my 4-day weekend after all.
All the same, I rolled out of bed at 6:30 AM, but not of my own volition. If my son is any indication, a cinnamon waffle is an urgent need at 6:30 AM on a Friday and there is nothing I can do to extend my sleep much beyond dozing at the kitchen table while he eats it and watches YouTube clips of long-forgotten iterations of Power Rangers. Such is my life.
|18 hours 11 min ago||"Ritual"...||
Much of what passes for "ritual" around here depends on whether or not we're going to be at the game.
If we are going into Ann Arbor, then it is basically falling out of bed, downing some quick breakfast and coffee and putting on the gear and it is off to the tailgates / game.
If we're going to be at home, like for most away games, then I'll usually make a full English breakfast once everyone is up and then get my grill ready for a day of good eating, having begun to marinate meats as early as Thursday. There is usually a beer run sometime in the 11 AM timeframe as well, one of the advantages of having the store at the end of the street. The "M" flag will go up usually around 9 AM as well.
|19 hours 45 min ago||Preseason Numbers...||
The preseason projection from Massey, which is based on past data so take it as you will, would predict 6-6 for Washington State, which would probably make them a comfortable ninth or tenth in the whole of the Pac 12. It seems about right, if last night's performance is any indication, but as it is only one game, all the normal qualifiers apply - after all, Massey would have predicted a win for WSU last night too.
|19 hours 50 min ago||Also Significant...||
It was significant actually that both Michigan and ND were starting the year 0-2 when they met in 2007 as that was the first time this rivalry (soon-to-be former rivalry) had ever happened under those conditions. Of course, we overcame the difficulties of "decided schematic advantage" and sent ND out of town, starting their season 0-3 for only the second time in their history at that point.
|1 day 3 hours ago||I Hope He Does...||
I always liked Toussaint as a player and was always optimistic that he could carve out a niche for himself in the NFL based on what we saw in Ann Arbor. The game is just ending now, but his 17 carries for 103 yards stands, with the longest being a 23-yard run. Hopefully, he does make it onto the Ravens' roster. Good to see him out there.
|1 day 4 hours ago||We Can Only Assume...||
You know, I was a little disappointed when the Air Raid was being stunted a bit and the 4th down play didn't quite make it, but Gary Nova made it all better somehow by throwing it right back. We can only assume he felt bad about the situation and wanted to give WSU another shot at this, so it's a shame that they might squander it.
|1 day 4 hours ago||So, About That...||
So, I believe the question before us this evening, MGoCOmmunity, is this - would Steve Spurrier eat his visor flame-broiled or sauteed, or perhaps Memphis-style BBQ? I think this is an important question to have answered before the presser.
Incidentally, the final damage - South Carolina gave up 680 yards over 99 plays, or 6.87 yards allowed per play on average. Kenny Hill was 44-for-60 with 511 yards passing.
|1 day 5 hours ago||Nice, Very Nice....||
Ha. I actually played this one a few times - very funny indeed.
Glad to see commercials like this come back as part of the beginning of the season as well. I will say that, during some of the more morbid moments of fandom, things like this have given me a good laugh.
|1 day 6 hours ago||Exquisitely Big Ten...||
Several of the series in this Minnesota game so far - especially between the second Eastern Illinois turnover and Minnesota's need to get to 3rd and goal before running it in successfully - have been exquisitely Big Ten. It is nice to have this back really.
Mitch Leidner getting a chance to show off that arm too - 1 for 4 and a grand total of 2 yards in the air right now.
|1 day 7 hours ago||From The Conference Room...||
Well, not really a storm anymore - actually, it was a really nice day.
When I get home, I plan to switch to something else, but for the time being, we're half-listening to the Minnesota / E. Illinois game as we wait for people to call in their findings in the field. It's not a bad slate for an opening Thursday really, and as I am off tomorrow, I have plenty of entertainment late into the night.
