To be fair, of course, it does feel a bit as if Hackett went out on a trek, found the Sankara stones - which happened to be Harbaugh-shaped - and brought them back to the fanbase so that life may be injected into the place once again. It sets up to be a win for everyone in that respect and if he is Indiana Jones, I would think it is an apt analogy in that regard.
|1 hour 38 min ago||In Addition...||
In addition to everything else that seems to be going on at the moment, suddenly attracting the nation's #1 QB recruit by virtue of Harbaugh coming to Ann Arbor (back to Ann Arbor, mind you) would probably start a trend that would leave much of the board - to paraphrase my lovely wife - "all out of evens". I love the idea.

During endless renditions of "The Victors", what we need to do is seal Tim Kawakami inside the bass drum and then tell the percussion section to just have at it and live it up as they play. A few hours later, we can get him out of the drum and he will likely be functionally deaf but wiser for the experience. I personally would tell people that I saw nothing.

Going cheap because I have to make lunch for guests tomorrow and I really don't need to be too out of sorts between Big Ten success in bowls and Harbaugh news. Just a simple Sutter Home White Merlot for the moment, slowly sipping that and enjoying the Holiday Bowl so far. It's definitely not the best wine, but for purposes of hanging about and watching football while contemplating what the hell tomorrow's menu will be, it serves.

It is a restaurant / bar place in the JLA but I believe it is open only to season ticket holders normally, although they might have it open generally for the GLI. Having done the one at Comerica admittedly, I am not certain on that (although I have been here for work events, so they do make exceptions for special events). If it is open, you'll surely be able to find a screen there with the Lions game going.

|6 hours 17 min ago||Early Estimate...||
Just from the buzz on social media alone, I have to think the line along to get into the Spring game will extend up Main Street, through downtown, onto M-14 and then split west, east and north depending on which direction people choose to approach the city from. Those approaching from the southern reaches of the city will be backed up as far as Saline, Milan, and possibly towards Eastern's campus if you're coming from Ypsilanti or Canton.

It would be nice to see Charlie Strong get his own back with this one, although I don't know if they'd quite go for biting into a ham sandwich every time he looks in the direction of the Texas sideline. With our luck, Bret would just run over there at halftime and ask where he got it and if that deli was still open perchance.
|8 hours 30 min ago||My Two Cents...||
Growing up, I don't know that I really had a preference so much as I wanted Michigan to win every game that I saw / attended / etc..., but nowadays I do tend to agree with others in that we have this helmet which is iconic and stands for enough achievements - team and individual - as it is without them. They would distract from something that is by itself beautiful, in my opinion.
That being said, it isn't my call and I don't know that I would necessarily complain either.
|8 hours 51 min ago||Pinstripe Bowl...||
Over at TeamRankings, they are setting an implied O/U on points at 41 and have Penn State -3 right now, or as of the start, I should say. I was scared for a moment until I remember that 41 was the some total, or otherwise we're talking about teams that would normall need a few games to score 41 points individually.
...and this season, Boston College kicking a field goal has been like Neifi Perez with a bat most of them time, so naturally the turn it over on downs.
|8 hours 54 min ago||Not Really Sure, Of Course...||
Obviously, we can't know for certain, but I do wonder if some of those who decommitted are watching this situation with one eye to it, as it were. I suspect the immediate impact is that perhaps a few of those kids decide to give Michigan a second go and we can only hope that most of them stick around, and as a bonus, we get a few that might have been distant or inaccessible before. I have a feeling that some doors open up if (when, it seems now) Harbaugh sets foot in Ann Arbor.

I am pretty sure we're making a rare exception to the guidelines on duplicate threads with this one, as it has made it to the board in some form about once a week since before Thanksgiving. The funny thing is, however, that it doesn't seem to get old in what is apparently going to be the dawning of a new era of Michigan football, from the sound of the news.

My brother-in-law's wife works in the pediatric ICU there and expresses this sentiment every time I see her. It has to be emotionally draining, to be sure, and there are stories which visibly upset her when she does talk about work.
Speaking of Mott, I just made another donation - I count my blessings with two healthy kids and am always willing to help when I can.

|10 hours 22 min ago||On Leavitt...||
Among other achievements, as I recall, Leavitt also once shared coordinator duties on defense with one Bob Stoops at Kansas State, something which was integral to their turnaround in the early 1990s. It would be interesting to see him on staff, to be sure.
|10 hours 34 min ago||All Good News...||
All good news, of course.
I am still waiting for "sources close to the situation" to confirm that Schiano's agent has strapped himself to the Cube and refuses to leave until he can at least have an audience with Hackett. I wait for this, of course, so I can take the kids down to the Cube so they can give it good spin, of course.
|13 hours 2 min ago||Stability...||
The stability argument is something we've confirmed in the past, as it's believed his family has truly appreciated the outpouring of support from Michigan fans, alumni and former players throughout the process.
It seems like very rarely does someone find a home and make a job their job, if you will, in the NFL, but coming back to Ann Arbor would pretty much guarantee the family a place to sit down and raise the kids, and the Ann Arbor area is an excellent place to do that very thing. As someone else mentioned, this is an opportunity for Harbaugh to make a job uniquely his and write a legacy - there has to be an attraction to that and it isn't something the NFL can offer as readily.

The top tweet seems to summarize it nicely...
|13 hours 17 min ago||Symbolic Indeed...||
I'll be honest - I didn't even realize this was the anniversary of Bo's hiring, but hopefully a similar exchange is happening out in California right now. What a symbolic day in Michigan history indeed, if the arrangements are being worked out right now. Of course, the headline the next day in 1968 was "Bo Who?" as I recall, but the headline for this - if we're right - would have to be, well, "It's Happening!"
|14 hours 58 min ago||In Addition...||
This is where I am at with it too. In all honesty, I think we could be pleasantly surprised by Morris if he's actually being developed and coached properly. I actually feel this way about numerous players on the roster, but at the QB position in partcular, you can see the potential but someone has to mold it, if you will.
|17 hours 39 min ago||About That...||
If indeed all this goes down, as good as Brandt's sources are, we will be hearing that Harbaugh has had initial discussions with Michigan sometime around the Spring Game, perhaps a little after that. All goes well, the contract will be finalized just in time for the conference schedule in early October. The man is that connected.
|1 day 2 hours ago||In That Case...||
In that case, I have to assume that Zook would allow the guards of the various armored cars to get within 35 yards or so of the vault, order them to punt the money, and then take a chance on a teller to be able to get the money out to mid-lobby. At that point, Zook would order a couple depsoits that would get him into range of the teller window, but then he would inexplicably punt the money back to the armored car guys.

I know you can self-upvote your own thread - at your own risk, of course - but you shouldn't actually be able to self-upvote your own posts, or at least, that functionality was turned off soon after the old voting system was restored (you could do it for a few hours). Then again, there are known troll accounts which are the brainchildren of others users which, well, sometimes it seems they might get used for that very purpose - self-upvoting, but not "yourself" per se.
