I know we like to say "It's Happening!" lately, especially now that a certain thing has in fact happened, but 42 bowl games? The One Hour Martinizing Bowl is happening.

"Saying 'Jim flipped it at Stanford' makes it sound like a personal accomplishment, which it wasn't," Harbaugh replied after being asked about how he makes a team tougher. "It was a team effort at all those places. That's the answer. You win as a team. Everybody does a little and it adds up to a lot."
I do get what he's saying here, I think, mainly because you have to get buy-in from the ground all the way up to the coordinators to make this work, to allow someone with as strong a personality as Jim Harbaugh to be a success. His success depends a lot on the people and players around him. That being said, he never really says what the article's title says, and it doesn't seem like something he would say now or at any point.

As I am an itinerant drinking person with no particular attachments save for a family and employment and no vehicle which could hope to suit a sizeable tailgate, I will tailgate wherever people will take me in. Typically though, I will make my weekly homage to the tailgate of my next door neighbor growing up, the man who introduced a little LSA to the magic of Michigan.

In the video for "Cars", you'll see members of The Tubeway Army, but I think "The Pleasure Principle" was it for that era. There is always one of my favorites - "Are Friends Electric?"

I wouldn't mind a mix of that strategy, or the "fourth" one in the OP. I would go in on top talent because that's just something you should do as a program, or at least in as much as you are able (Michigan is quite able), but at the same time, you have to make strategic moves up and down that list - say, the Top 100 or 150 - and have plans / paths / timelines for everyone that you happen to targeting. I don't think you can devote inordinate amounts of time to a single five-star, for example, unless you believe the risk in lost time with other recruits is acceptable. You have to strike a balance somehow.

I actually wondered when this thread would appear, knowing that the board would not have forgotten that it is Cinco De Mayo.
Let us toast the decisive victory of Ignacio Zaragoza Seguin's army over a French force approximately three times its size at the Battle Of Puebla (well, the first of two at Puebla anyway, the second being a French rout, as I recall, paving the way for the capture of Mexico City).

$5,000 - I'd get another mid 1990s Prizm and relive my days at Michigan. Also, it seemed like you could drive for days on a gallon of gas.
$10,000 - early 2000s Impala. I want mine back but with an engine that won't implode this time.
$15,000 - there's a place up the road from me in Troy that had a restored 1966 Caprice for about that price. Nice color and nice job overall on the restore too.
|18 hours 27 min ago||Crystal Balls...||
His Crystal Ball is 82% Duke and 18% Syracuse at this point, so I think it's clear that he'll be headed to Ann Arbor for the fall of 2016.
...or Hofstra....maybe Austin Peay, the way the Crystal Ball seems to work.
In all seriousness though, that's quite the offer sheet - in addition to Duke, Louisvulle, Syracuse, Connecticut and us, Kentucky, Arizona, Virginia and Villanova just to mention a few (full ist HERE). In the Big Ten, Ohio State, Maryland, Indiana and Rutgers also offered.
|20 hours 59 min ago||Long List...||
Admittedly, I only skimmed it but there was some great creativity here, especially by those who obviously knew it was a non-starter:
"Fighting Boys Named Sue"
"Mentally Ill Horses"
Oh yes...."Children Of Yost" - wrong school, of course, but I like where their head is at.

I am just going to assume that we can get an archived photo of Jim Harbaugh defending Little Round Top against the 15th Alabama Regiment at Gettysburg. That would probably be an awesome photo indeed actually.
Either that or Harbaugh spray painting "Irgendwann fallt jede Mauer" on the Berlin Wall.

I have a few examples of the many that I could put down...
From the late 1960's, "Windy" by the Association
Some 15 years after that, "Der Kommissar" by Falco, also "Vienna Calling" by Falco.
More modern stuff - "You Get What You Give" by the New Radicals
Truly modern - "Cooler Than Me" by Mike Posner
|1 day 17 hours ago||Well Then...||
Well then, congratulations to both you and Boliver on the additions to your families as well as the ever-growing Michigan family.
The day I became a dad was one of the happiest yet even though I had every single emotion racing around in my mind in the moment. Almost nine years now after my daughter's birth (and almost eight after my son's), that memory is still clear and still awesome.

....the blog comes through and we shall be treated to another edition of HTTV. I will say, I rather envisioned a lot of people choosing their donation level like this:
Good news though and I shall be intrigued to see what they come up with for year one of Harbaugh.

She had very short scenes in Star Trek III and IV too, the first being non-speaking and just shaking her head as a battered Enterprise docks, and then working at Starfleet's Operations Center in San Francisco in "The Voyage Home", I believe.
One lesser known fact about Whitney is that she spent a good deal of time in her life helping people battle addiction in its various forms (she had become hooked on amphetamines during filming of the original series).

Han Solo at least attempting to take on stormtroopers with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind...
|2 days 10 hours ago||Hometown Indeed...||
That's actually kind cool for him really, to sign with the hometown team (Hollowell is from Detroit, after all), and congratulations to him. Actually, I didn't even consider Hollowell as someone who would be signed because there just wasn't enough data really for him, but a nice pro day later and hopefully he sees the field on Sunday.

To be fair, anything that makes the other team wonder what the hell is going on....I think some team would be willing to try it out...
|2 days 17 hours ago||Interesting Stuff...||
Aced the football one, as have others.
I bookmarked the basketball one - will definitely attempt that either today or tomorrow. There are a a good number on the list (I gave it a quick look) that I am sure I know offhand mainly because of their appearances in the tournament and the obligatory discussions that go on, but quite a few where I would be guessing outright.

In an interview at CMU Pro Day, Rawls mentioned Seahawks All-Pro running back Marshawn Lynch as someone he models his style after.
Lynch would be a tough act to follow, of course, but kudos to the people starting threads for those with Michigan connections so that we might stay informed of how their career in the NFL might unfold as well. I just wanted to thank folks for keeping us up on all who have worn the winged helmet.
|3 days 6 hours ago||Connections...||
There might not be a lot of folks on this blog that know the person behind katiecandraw.com, but if you do, that's my sister. She's reasonably well-known and I can always see what I can arrange. This is a busy time of the year for her, but she usually can find time for some one-off requests. I'll just have to provide some shots of Harbaugh, but that's easy enough. Let me know, OP, if you want me to put in a request.

There's a lot we could say about Gardner's time at Michigan as a blog perhaps, but I think that - here again - we have something to celebrate in that Devin is getting a shot in the NFL and with the team that employs one Tom Brady, no less. It will be interesting to see if - even in one game - Brady-to-Gardner becomes a thing. I have a feeling it might be an interesting display, and in an excellent way.

“Because of the coaches not really knowing him, it made them kind of put Josh in that category of, ‘Oh, he’s one of those kids’ … because you do come across kids who act bad and that’s a habitual action,” said Woolfolk, who had since graduated when the incident took place. “Unfortunately for him, from having a new coach come in, they really don’t have the same loyalty to you as a person.”
If it is the case that the staff in place at the time just put Furman in a box like that, then.....I don't even know what to say about that except "UGH".
Josh Furman could be fun to watch in the NFL, I think, if his season at Oklahoma State is any hint at things to come perhaps.
|3 days 11 hours ago||Congratulations To All...||
From a representative of the class of 2000 (who wouldn't have guessed?), congratulations to today's graduates. You shall always be part of the Michigan family, and forever and always, Go Blue.
It's hard to believe that it has been 15 years now for me, but still, I look back fondly on those days in Ann Arbor - they were some of the best I've experienced.
|3 days 12 hours ago||Congratulations To Him...||
Like others, the Michigan fan in me enjoys this and is very happy for Jake Ryan. The Lions fan has...well...feelings about the Packers in general, of course, but he is definitely going to a place where he'll be able to compete and succeed and there's certainly nothing bad you can say about that. Hopefully, he has a nice, long NFL career.
|3 days 16 hours ago||Felt It Here Too...||
Furniture and shelved items vibrated for about 5-10 seconds here in Romulus per my wife. I was outside, but you could definitely feel the vibration and the patio furniture started to rattle a bit as well. Per the USGS, that was centered south of Galesburg, which explains why the folks on the western side of the state felt it the most.
Anyone else remember the one we had in 1986 or 1987, somewhere in that timeframe? That one was closer to Detroit, I think.
|4 days 4 hours ago||I Could Be Wrong...||
Someone who knows more than me can probably answer this a little better, but I think the staffing levels for basketball are - by NCAA definition - lower and for most teams it is easier to have one of the assistants handle this particular function, if indeed we're talking about a full-time coordinator as most football teams seem to have.
|4 days 6 hours ago||OK, Folks...||
Jaylen Brown to Kentucky (maybe)
I get it. Sometimes, we're pressed into jumping the gun in the weird world of recruiting, but then you get....
Beilein Can't Recruit
|4 days 7 hours ago||Interesting Development...||
I'll be honest - this is not where I would have seen Clark going, but I was cued in on Twitter to some of the high marks he got from a couple teams and indeed it looks like his draft stock made some late jumps in the eyes of some. In any event, good news for him and we'll probably be seeing him on Sundays at some point. I imagine we might see Jake Ryan go tomorrow - rather interested to see where he goes too.
|4 days 8 hours ago||Almost Forgot...||
I almost forgot about Harbaugh's somewhat brief stint with the Panthers, although as I recall he dressed but didn't play. It was also the year where he was with the Lions for a time before the season and assumed by many - until we cut him - to be the probable backup to Batch.
