Reminds me of that kid in might ducks 2 who was fast but couldn't break. Everyone loves his speed but he is so out of control.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||This is why||
People get mad at belien. Yes Caris and Spike are out but that doesn't mean that chatman can't play instead of dakich...
|7 weeks 5 days ago||Meh season||
In every sense. Was there even a single enjoyable game all year - including wins and losses? Last years team was much worse but the games were fun to watch...
|13 weeks 3 days ago||Exactly.||
Recruiting is all about relationships - not just the players but the coaches, the school, the community etc. Why is it that Urban Meyer had to go meet with Thomas Wilcher immediately after the Mike Weber situation? Beacuse if he didnt, no way was a kid from Cass Tech ever going to go to Ohio State again.
This recruiting strategy may never hurt us. Or, conversely, it may keep us from the five star kid down the line who chooses a rival.
Hard to say, but it certainly doesnt seem like the best strategy when they could instead be upfront with the commitable-ness of the offer....
|15 weeks 2 days ago||Predictable||
When was the last time this team played a complete game against a team with a pulse?
|16 weeks 3 days ago||Now we can finally put this to rest||
Since 2001 (when RR started at WVU) he's had - count them - eight seasons of 5 or more losses verus six seasons of four or less. So, in his career he's had more dissapointing - meh seasons than "good" seasons. This is across nearly a decade and a half of coaching in three different conferences.
So yeah, RR is a decent-good coach, but he certainly isn't elite. And now that we have an elite coach, hopefully this is all water under the bridge.
(For reference, over the same span, Meyer has had one 5 loss season.)

This conversation with friends recently as it seems like our lack of recruiting success is due to our so called "cleanliness." And I'm not sure what side I come down on now. When we unearthed some diamonds like trey and nik, it was easy to stand on our morals. But today.... Today it's looking like that 2-3 year run could have been more of anomaly then we all want to admit.
Anyways I will say this: you don't play games with "clean" or "dirty" stamped on your forehead and clinging to this notion that basically is "oh well we do it the Right way," seems a bit hollow when your rivals are playing in final fours and you're sitting at home....
|19 weeks 2 days ago||Yes. This.||
While DUI is more "dangerous" to society as a whole, I think school adminstration would view physcial altercation with a student athlete as being far more damaging then driving while intoxicated.
Case in point: this whole convesration. No one said "...but he has DUI..." when Harbaugh was hired.
|19 weeks 2 days ago||I would||
argue that a "DUI" and "striking a student" aren't very comparable.
|20 weeks 1 day ago||The trouble||
with the Walton thing is that we didn't look any better against Xavier and Uconn - the games he played against good teams.
|20 weeks 2 days ago||I think||
Therein lies the problem- walk ons and small power forwards aren't a recipe for continual success, and if the reinforcements don't come then your left hoping that you can keep unearthing diamonds in the rough.
I agree it's too early - today - to panic, but more and more it's looking like the 2012 run is the anomaly and not, as we thought, the beginning of a foundation...

Burn through some of that depth we heard about and just go full court press all game. Teams are scoring anyways in our half court defense, might as well try to play for turnovers.
|20 weeks 2 days ago||Yeah||
Look at turgeon at Maryland. Meh coach but still a top 5 team with the talent they have
|20 weeks 2 days ago||Isn't that||
What we said during the Uconn game?
|20 weeks 5 days ago||I know we have to move on||
But I can't help still being a bit upset at Blake ....

I didn't think what cook said was that bad -- what was worse is the fact that mr John u bacon is rooting for every big ten team outside of the Wolverines,no? It's like he wants another book deal and the way he's doing is to get in the good graces of all Mich, penn state, mich state, and osu fans. His Twitter reads like a United Nations high school debate. "We're all winners!"
|21 weeks 16 hours ago||True||
But in the past B1G coaching searches have been the current MAC dujour (beckman, hazzell, etc). At least now even the bottom feeders seem to be trying to improve themselves...
|21 weeks 17 hours ago||All things considered||
I think these are each upgrades from prior staffs. B1G East could easily be the hardest league in the nation, if it isn't already.
|21 weeks 2 days ago||this||
exactly. Those who are blindly predicting year 3 when we take off should take a look at the two deep and what we lose in 2017. Next year is a critical year where we need to do well enough to keep positive momentum knowing that we may have to rebuild in 2017. trouble with next year is that schedule though...
|21 weeks 3 days ago||OSU||
hasn't lit up anyone the way we were beaten on Saturday. And they lost to a team that we took to the wire. I won't argue that OSU isn't more talented than we are, but the disparity in talent does not account for the 30 point drubbing.
|21 weeks 3 days ago||talent||
"That is not a talent issue, unless you think the rest of the season was a mirage."
Thank you brian for pointing this out. After the game alot of people were talking about how we don't have the "talent" to hang with OSU yet. I think thats lazy analysis. We had the talent to go toe-to-toe with MSU and we have upperclass 4 and 5 stars starting at nearly every spot. Maybe this is arguing semantics, but I certainly don't think "talent" is the issue and to argue that point obfuscates what I think was the real problem on Saturday - we have the talent, we just got outcoached.
I thought this team would finish 10-2, so 9-3 with one top 25 victory and an 0-2 record against our rivals feels a bit dissapointing. I would also argue that those predicting 8-4 have to be a bit dissapointed too if none of those 8 victories came against either MSU or OSU. It was an OK year, no doubt, certainly better than any year in the past decade save 2011, but the way in which it ended will cast a negative light throughout the offseason.
2016 will be huge for this program. We have tons of returning talent that will be seniors, but we play our hardest two games on the road and break in a new QB.
|23 weeks 3 days ago||not just||
two games though. its two games plus a potential big ten championship game, rosebowl, or even a playoff game.
|24 weeks 5 days ago||Wait||
So I'm not crazy right? Michigan has gotten f-Ed all year by refs, especially in big play? What did harbaugh do to Delaney?
|25 weeks 6 days ago||i actually||
think we'll be on the oustide looking in for the playoff BUT the first committee poll last year had OSU #16...
so....you never know.
|25 weeks 6 days ago||meh||
this is so hypothetical but ill play along -
i think the playoff committee could easily overlook our flukey lost to MSU, and if we beat OSU convincingly (14+ points) - you could see a path to us being ranked ahead of both MSU and OSU. but like i said - all hypothetical. theres still a half of season of football to play, but i certainly dont think we're out of the BIG title contention at all.
edit - also dont overlook the end of the season loss-factor, where the committee may put more stock into recent losses versus those earlier in the year. obviously that would also help us in this hypothetical osu/msu/UM round robin scenario.

As I hate him I've wondered how Meyer can't get a snif of the NFL? And at this point I wouldn't mind if the lions took him. Nothing else has worked, might as well try something new...

a young alumni, or standing section implemented in the stadium. i get my tickets via stubhub and sometimes it gets tiring sitting next to blue hairs.

Gets a direct wildcat snap, Michigan also wins by at least 14.
|29 weeks 2 days ago||thing is||
that was the turning point of the hoke era. (how prescient that it hinged on QB play?) but going into that game, we had just beaten MSU, were first in the division tracking to play for the b1g championship, after finishing a year where we just had won the sugar bowl.
but then denard gets hurt and the wheels fall off...
