Agree. Also lost in the shuffle was the bad shot trey took right after. He knew he had to press, took a bad shot, missed, and that was the game. You could also see it on his face when Peyton was shooting those free throws - he wanted so bad to make it up. |

are being honest with ourselves, that 100k streak looked a bit...tenuous... after the 2008 NW game... |

who are the leaders next year? Morgan and......? |
| 4 weeks 5 days ago | re brian's third point: |
the foul. Yes. We all get frustrated when the refs swallow their whistle during the muggings under the basket. I am all for tightening that up. However, I don’t want to see every nudge, every little touch, every finger on a guy turn into free throws. It’s the reason why I stopped watching the NBA and find college basketball more enjoyable: if aaron craft shoots 25 free throws a game because a foul is called on him for every drive, what fun is that? Hows that improving anything? |

i understand the vitriol directed at mark may. i mean, i get it, i guess - espn talking head and all - but this seems more like "enemy of my enemy is my friend." anyone who uses a loud pulpit to bash ohio is OK in my book. |
| 6 weeks 1 day ago | Charge |
Block doesn't matter -- it was called charge a d Jordan Morgan came up with the play of the game. Lets let that settle in for a second - love the kid and all he has done, never complained a out being benched and came up HUGE tonight. HAIL and go blue see you all Monday! |

We haven't faced a team that pressed like this all game. Watching VCU they play fast - very fast. I am a bit more nervous than I was reading Brian's assessment... |
| 8 weeks 4 days ago | is jaime dixon out at pitt? |
Chronic tournament underachiever. Another painful loss for them, even earlier than usual. With a move to the ACC and the fact that Pitt has invested heavily in their basketball program (leveling their football field for the basketball arena), I wonder if Jamie Dixon is out? At the very least, he must be on the very hot seat, right? |

everyone have coming out of the South? Can someone assuage my fears re Florida - or convince me to put someone else there? Would love to go Michigan - but I just don't see them playing well that consistently to get to the Final Four... |

So is Gonzaga/ Mark Few... |

It's like the old adage from high school - if you're unsure about an answer, go with your original choice. I, on the other hand, am in full-blown tweak mode and probably will wind up doing more damage. Oh well. This seems to me to be the most wide-open bracket that I can remember, and I feel like some frenetic addict anxiously awaiting tip-off. |

went through a rough draft and came up with three big ten teams (and florida...). big ten is good - but not that good. unfortunately, i think both ohio and indiana are as close to locks as you can get - but im not sure about the other two teams. |
| 9 weeks 3 days ago | mehh |
:::::shoulder shrug:::::
That about sums it up for me. This team peaked at the end of January finishing 6-6 in the big ten. It’s hard to be upset, or even surprised, by this game, as its been a microcosm of the whole season.
If we’re looking for positives – I guess it’s nice to have a week off (though they didn’t do much after their last week). Also, everyone is already picking against them so maybe they will play looser being a 3/4 seed.
Mehh. Disappointing today, but not exactly unanticipated. |

Coming into this, everything about the game screamed “slow start.” I’d be a bit worried if it remained close, but we were able to pull away convincingly which is all that really matters, especially because most of our early problems could be attributed to Morgan (for better or worse).
They do have to learn though that starting that slow in the NCAA tournament means your season is over. |

needs to chill a bit. they were literally one inch away from another big ten championship. they certainly did not "peak" too early, the brutal big 10 is what drained them (and every other team). |

writing. re-opens the wounds a bit but with a hint of optimism. great work BISB. |

of all this backpacking talk, as I stare outside my office window in the middle a city. love backpacking, but unfortunately, I am more of a car camper these days. lame, i know. but what are you going to do? this is what happens when modern(ish) comforts like good food become more appealing than cans of tuna. i want to do a trip around the UP this summer - anyone have suggestions?

Wonder how Chris Peterson at Boise kept the guy in check... Unless of course he didn't and nothing was reported because .... It's Boise Idaho. |

Brian rip vitale while extolling dakich? I was admittedly okay with vitale ( before the Ohio game) but Dakich???!? He's creeping on Pam ward territory |

also had an article a few weeks back about the new fade amongst young people that involves "hooking up" instead of "dating." It was something that Herm would have written: "in my day we used to only hold hands until marriage..." |

Look at our last three games versus states: Msu Michigan Ten days, three ranked opponents, two on the road. State: Zero ranked opponents, two games at home over the same time. Tough, ugly loss for sure but we are definitely closer to the team that played well against Indiana and osu versus the team that got crushed tonight. We're not the #1 team but were no slouch either... |
| 13 weeks 5 days ago | The Wisconsin |
Game KILLED this team. I think they let Wisconsin beat them twice. What a brutal stretch though - four ranked teams in a row, three of them on the road. Have to question where the leadership is going to come from now...? I thought Morgan was supposed to be our defensive rock? How many times did he get outhustled? First basketball or football game I turned off early in a couple years...just seems like one of those nights. State couldn't miss - we couldn't hit anything (even layups). |
| 14 weeks 6 days ago | i dont know |
If I agree with your statement here:
That is like saying because Miami, or Ohio, or USC all got caught cheating, other top-level NCAA teams are cracking down – this almost assuredly isn’t the case. People are going to do anything for more money - lie, cheat, hell, maybe even make up fake girlfriends. In fact, the story about Juventus I think proves the contrary and more ominous point – if one of the biggest teams in one of the biggest countries for the most popular sport in the world fixes matches, then anyone and everyone could potentially be doing it, not just those obscure Turkish teams.

hate vitale (maybe because i dont watch enough duke games to form an opinion), though i found his incessant Oladipo slurping this game to be very annoying... |

Exactly – if you read the Pete Thamel transcript from SI yesterday, Teo was en route to his home in Hawaii when he found out that the girlfriend’s family was going to “pull the plug on her.” He was probably taking off from a plane in Southern California, talking to his girlfriend, while she was literally on her death bed in Southern California. The fact that this is one of many bizarre stories of this whole scandal just gives more credence to the whole “when there is smoke…” argument. I might be able to believe he didn’t know anything…for a while…but don’t tell me he believed up until December 6th his girlfriend was real – if he didn’t see her on her death bed. |

For sure but this game hasn't changed ANYthing. So many factors against us today - geez if stauskas just hits ONE three we win this game. Anyways we won't be #1 - yet - but that was never the goal. I will second the poster whose sick of losing to those "inbreds". As always, f Ohio but well get them at home. |

Since Juventus received a very harsh punishment for their involvement with match fixing a few years ago, I think it opened up the eyes of big clubs to monitor this as much as possible.
