Miller is 6'2" (debatable) and 215 according to the OSU athletic website. I'm not sure where you are getting the 235 figure. Still perfectly viable measurements for a RB, though.

That's a pretty ballsy statement right there.

I'm thinking about returning to school to study either Engineering (Electrical or Aeronautical) or Computer Science and am having trouble deciding exactly which path to pursue.
I'd like to be in a profession that allows me to make a real contriubtion to society in some way and it seems like Engineering might be a better option to fulfill that goal but I am concerned about a few things re: Engineering: How much of that high-level math (e.g. advanced Calculus, differential equations) is used in an engineer's actual daily work? I have some concerns about my ability/comfort with advanced math and am not sure if that would be an impediment to my success in school or (more importantly) on the job. Secondly, are there positions in engineering that are less reliant on being the "idea guy"? I don't think of myself as a creative or inventive thinker and would prefer to be more of an implementer of other engineer's ideas. Is that feasible?
I know that there are several practicing engineers on this site, so if any of you could offer your perspective, I would appreciate it.

Just wanted to say that I am now upvoting all of your posts as long as you have that sig line. The screen name and avatar are pretty sweet, too.

Let me tell you something, my friend. Hope is a dangerous thing, hope can drive a man insane.

Please tell me Derek isn't the son of Lawrence Funderburk (who played for OSU)? If he is, well...damn, I am really getting old.

I agree with you completely re: Northwestern but it seems as though a LOT of posters on this site still consider N'Western as a "should win" game most seasons even when it is played in Evanston. So, I was thinking more in terms of what I felt most of the MGoPosters (especially the types like the OP) would think about UM losing to NW.

I've saved this post to a file and will be reviewing it at the end of the season. Someone writes this kind of pump up/pie-in-the-sky post every year in fall camp.
A REALISTIC view of Michigan's outlook in 2014 might be something like: 10-2 ceiling, 6-6 floor with 8-4 being most likely.
Losses @Notre Dame, @Michigan State and @ Ohio State are all extremely likely. Throw in at least one "Whut?" loss that UM seems to have every season (@ Northwestern or @ Rutgers seems most likely) and there's your 8-4 season.

2013 Defensive Stats for OSU's 2014 starting DL:
N. Spence 52 Tackles, 14.5 TFL, 8.0 Sacks, 4 QB Pressure, 2 PBU, 1 FF, 1 FR
J. Bosa 44 Tackles, 13.5 TFL, 7.5 Sacks, 6 QB Pressure, 1 PBU, 0 FF, 1 FR
M. Bennett 42 Tackes, 11.5 TFL, 7.0 Sacks, 1 QB Pressure, 0 PBU, 3 FF, 2 FR
A. Washington 36 Tackles, 4.0 TFL, 2.0 Sacks, 2 QB Pressure, 0 PBU, 0 FF, 0 FR
Bosa was a true freshman, Spence and Washington were sophomores, Bennett was a junior. Washington was the only one on that list with "meh" stats and he missed a few games (and was hampered in many others) due to a significant groin injury.
If UM had a D-line with those guys returning, people on here would be creaming their pants.

You "relish" seeing a college student (Braxton Miller) in "pain on the ground"?
I literally recoiled in disgust when I read that statement.
|33 weeks 1 day ago||And THIS is why I finally||
And THIS is why I finally pulled the plug on my Michigan fandom before the start of the season (this is my first post since late August)...
I never had an legitimate reason to root for Michigan: I was born and grew up in Columbus, Ohio (I still live near Columbus) to an OSU grad father and I chose to root for Michigan just to be "different." When I was younger (I am currently 41 y/o), Michigan was a good program but that simply hasn't been the case for nearly a decade now.
All Michigan fans have experienced for the past 9 years is humiliation (losses to App State and Toledo, 3-9 season in 2008) or heartbreak (losing to OSU in 2006) with nary a B1G championship during that period to salve the wounds.
Before I decided to bail on UM in the offseason, I found myself constantly arguing with other UM fans online about the state of the Michigan football program. I don't believe (and never did) that Hoke was a Michigan caliber HC. I think he will hang on for another two "bleh" seasons and then get axed. I think OSU will continue to be the consistently dominant program in the conference and win the conference title about 2/3 of the time. I said all of these things before the season and was routinely crucified by my fellow UM fans.
I realize that the term "fair-weather fan" applies here, but I am not from Michigan and never attended UM. There are no rewards for being a "true fan." I just can't put up with the mediocrity that is UM football any longer. I want to ENJOY watching my team on Saturdays again as I have not for many long years. I did not root for any team this past season but I had made a vow to myself before the season that IF OSU went undefeated again in the regular season, I would bow to the inevitable and adopt OSU as my new team.
So...I am pulling a Justin Boren. I hope UM finds its way again and returns to a level of quality that you all are anticipating/hoping for. I look forward to great battles between OSU and Michigan but I will be cheering for the "other side" now.
Good Night, Good Bye and Good Luck, UM fans

I'd be interested to know how Burrell and Settle feel now that they have visited but STILL haven't been offered. That has to put Michigan behind some other big-time programs. Just weird.

More to the point, YSU might actually be better than MSU's previous two opponents.
|49 weeks 13 hours ago||Yeah, I literally did that||
Yeah, I literally did that cartoon move where I pulled off my glasses, rubbed my eyes thoroughly with my knuckles and double-checked the line for the Iowa-Iowa State game. That line looks really off. I think ISU lost to an FCS team at home on opening weekend, so I guess that is factoring in but ISU has had a lot of success against the Hawkeyes in Ames for sometime now. I expect the Cyclones to win that SU.

Yeah, many UM insiders actually thought we lead for Day early (Feb/March) and were mildly surprised when he committed to ND. I'm not sure where Brian heard that UM wasn't seriously recruiting Day.

Sadly, this would qualify as a moderate and thoughtful response from the average SEC fan.

Looked like helmet to helmet to me. I didn't see the game but my first reaction on seeing that GIF was "Did Funchess get ejected?" because according to the new rules he should have been.

I'm still really confused on Michigan pulling the plug on the Montae Nicholson recruitment. UM is apparently still recruiting safeties but not Nicholson. Does anyone have information on what precipitated that move?
Oh, and regarding Hand NOT wearing UM gear...I think it is definitely time to ZOMG! PANIC!1!

They aren't just losing they are getting abused on their home field by an FCS squad. CMU has two offensive possessions with 6 plays and 15 yards, while NH has over 120 yards already. Looks like CMU might have been a lot worse than many of us thought and kind of diminishes what happened last Saturday.

I have gone back on forth on who I think will win this game for some time now, but I would definitely take ND and the points at +4.5. For a long time, I was picking ND to win this straight up; however, as of today, I am picking UM in a nail biter: 24-21.

Inquiry: Is the penalty for blocking in the back only possible on special teams plays? The first time I saw that play, I was all, "ARGH! Black why you no make TFL?!?" After I watched it again and it seems that the CMU tackle blocks Black in the back just as he is about to hit the RB, shoving him off course. Why no penalty?

|50 weeks 3 days ago||Your second point is, to me,||
Your second point is, to me, the more important one. I can remember watching Oregon games where the crowd immediately started booing every single time an opposing player went to the turf because they assumed that the player was faking the injury at the behest of his coaches. News flash Oregon fans: sometimes kids DO get injured in football games. When that happens, it just makes that fanbase look awful.
