|3 days 16 hours ago||Some of it's understandable||
I agree that some of the complaining is a bit much, but I think it's also understandable to a point. There's been a lot of mistakes on the part of Michigan's offense.

I mean, Keith Jackson is Keith Jackson, but if we're talking active announcing teams, I think both McDonough and Spielman are pretty good. They're both knowledgeable and don't have too much idle chatter. Spielman explains things really well and I don't think that he is biased against Michigan at all - in fact, I think he shows remarkable respect and fairness toward Michigan. I know some people are miffed with him because of his remark about who on the M offense would start for OSU, but 1) I'm not sure what he said was that much of an exaggeration right now and 2) even if it were, he more than makes up for it for his knowledge and the good things he has said about Michigan.
Some of the other teams here folks have mentioned are good too. I like Nessler and Blackledge. Fowler isn't bad, but I liked him better on College GameDay. Herbstreit's decent.

Better off without him.

Wow. This is a good game.

We wouldn't have driven to a TD from a 3rd and 20 last year.

So no, I don't care for the Thursday start.
|22 weeks 6 days ago||Nyquist, too||
He's been quieter than I would like. I don't think he's been playing to his strengths this series. That might be a testament to how TB has defended him, but I wonder if he's been trying to do too much.

But worse, even. I'd say that Palat's hit on Glendening was worse than Kronwall's hit. Then you've got Zidlicky out with a concussion and no one seems to be bothering to look at Morrow's high hit (with an elbow) on him that wasn't even done to defend the play.
Then there's Subban's two-hander. No suspension. Byfuglien's utter cheap shot on Corey Perry. No suspension.
I'm not defending Kronwall's hit. At the time, I thought it was clean, but when I took a few more looks at it, I can see why he got suspended. Strangely, though, if Kronwall had done what the league says is a legal hit, the outcome might actually have been worse. And Kronwall's making a defensive play and not intending to injure. Again, not saying he's innocent here, but there's a consistency problem with supplementary discipline.

I suppose having an ego that would make you resist being moved to the bullpen may be part of what makes a starting pitcher successful, but it seems to me that if the writing is on the wall and it's clear that you are not the pitcher you once were (at least as a starter), then it's not so bad to be changed to a relief pitcher. You still get to play the game you love (unless you're just burned out), get paid a pretty good sum to do it (and at that point, money is not likely to be much of a problem for you anyway), and still get to contribute to a team (even better if that team is a playoff contender). There are worse ways to finish a career.

I don't know how awesome they'll be, but if he heals properly and is managed properly, he'll still be a good #2 or #3 starter for a few more seasons. Fans, though, will need to adjust their expectations - as others have commented, he will likely not return to Cy Young levels of performance. Fewer (if any) complete games and no more hitting 98-99 mph on the radar gun in the 8th inning. He's now on the wrong side of 30, has pitched a lot of innings, has had increasing problems with injuries, and so forth. But he could still get the Tigers around 15 wins a season, and that's not nothing.
|27 weeks 2 days ago||This is exactly what I do||
Seriously, I've done it for years. I have many friends and acquaintances (not to mention my older brother) who are Sparty fans. Now me and my brother will get into it, because we know we're just talking shit and it's no big deal. But with everyone else, this is how I act. And sometimes, my Sparty interlocutor will not believe that that's how I feel and tries to press it further, but I don't fall for it. Then they just don't know what to do.

I'm making a Dijon mustard sauce for my pork chops tonight, and since the recipe calls for a dry white wine, I'll be having some sauvignon blanc.

|38 weeks 11 hours ago||I do like it a great deal here||
It would be no surprise to me at all if I lived here in Seattle for many more years. At this point, that is probably the mostly likely outcome and that would be just fine. I'm just more open to moving back to Michigan if the opportunity was right than I was several years ago.
That opportunity may never come along, and if so, I'll be happy here too.
|38 weeks 14 hours ago||Funny you should post on this||
I live in Seattle, Washington right now (and have for the past 14 years or so) and I've been contemplating a move back to Michigan myself. No concrete plans, and I may never actually do it, but I'm more open to doing so than I was 10 years ago.
Seattle is a great place, and I know a lot of folks would say I'm crazy to even think about moving back to Michigan. If I did move back, though, Ann Arbor would be among my top choices. It's one of my favorite places ever.

|40 weeks 15 hours ago||I was also thinking of Harbaugh vs. Dantonio||
They've both pretty intense fellows so this should be interesting to see play out, that is, if Dantonio doesn't complain next that it's "disrespectful" for Michigan State to have to go to Michigan to play games every other season.
