UCLA is preparing to build a new $50 million football facility. Trying to lure him away with the prospect of better facilities is somewhat undercut by that.
Morris is limping and looks like a dead man walking. Then he gets absolutely creamed and is stumbling like a drunkard, but remains in for another play. And THEN Hoke suddenly decides to lift his spite-embargo on Gardner and take Morris out. WHAT HAPPENED IN THE COURSE OF THAT PLAY to make Hoke change his mind? The only thing I can possibly think is that someone finally came up to Hoke and got it through his thick skull that Morris could be killed out there and he needed to be taken out ASAP.
...but then Hoke LETS HIM GO BACK OUT THERE FOR ANOTHER PLAY! So that doesn't even make sense either!
"the systems we had in place were inadequate to handle this unique and complex situation properly."
Translation: we were totally unprepared for the exact injury that is literally the reason for a neurologist to be present.
"the neurologist, with expertise in detecting signs of concussion, saw Shane stumble and determined he needed to head down the sideline to evaluate Shane."
Translation: the neurologist was not able to make it all the way down the sideline in like the 45 seconds of time he had, and communicate to anyone the problem, for some unexplained reason.
"Following the game, a comprehensive concussion evaluation was completed and Shane has been evaluated twice since the game. As of Sunday, Shane was diagnosed with a probable, mild concussion"
Translation: Morris was diagnosed with a concussion on Saturday.
"Unfortunately, there was inadequate communication between our physicians and medical staff and Coach Hoke was not provided the updated diagnosis before making a public statement on Monday."
Translation: Hoke is dead meat, and I am willing to throw him under the bus in an effort to save my own sorry ass.
"We have learned from this experience, and will continue to improve ways to keep our student-athletes’ health and safety our number one priority."
Translation: Look, we're not malicious, we're just staggeringly incompetent!
That Morris consented to having the information about his ankle sprain (and presumably the concussion as well) announced to the world.
Which does raise the question: when Hoke said Morris had a high ankle sprain, was he aware Morris consented to this, or was someone violating HIPAA? And if he was aware Morris consented, how did he not know about the concussion?
Dear Mathlete, I am curious for your opinion on Air Force's attempted 2-point conversion at the end of the Military Bowl. My superficial analysis tells me that the choice between going for two and kicking the extra point was probably pretty close - 2 point conversions appear to work in college around 43% of the time, whereas kicking the extra point probably had a 47%ish chance of winning the game (95% chance of making the XP times the 50% chance of winning in OT). But this doesn't take into account the chances of recovering an onside kick / quick score after the failed 2-point conversion, or the chances of Toledo scoring quickly after getting the ball back after the kickoff (there were 52 seconds left at the time of the 2-point try). I'd like to see you apply your considerable statistical knowledge to determining if Air Force made the objectively correct decision in going for two at the end.
as previously mentioned. However at least we're higher than MSU (25) and Houston (26) although we're still lower than Baylor (7) and Georgia (11... wtf...)
Then there’s another rotating crop of schools that could plausibly vie for an MNC today (Penn St, Georgia, Virginia Tech, Auburn, and Oregon) but haven’t done so in the last 25 years.
Yes I agree, either Auburn or Oregon could plausibly vie for a MNC today...
While Cam Newton certainly impressed this last week, I don't think a fairly close victory over an overrated LSU (which was only undefeated due to Tennesee's even greater boobery) is worth a jump to #1. If we're going to lament that the BCS ignores margin of victory, it doesn't seem fair to basically ignore it in elevating Auburn - three of their wins have been by only three points! And their win over Clemson was in overtime to boot! Whereas Oregon has basically dismantled every team they've played, including the underrated Stanford (who, let's not forget, jumped out to an early huge lead before the Ducks decided to Get Serious).

Are they just wearing whatever they pulled out of storage first?
I like those odds.
I wasn't paying attention, what did Manningham do?

Lloyd Brady approves
So hopefully we can retire our refrains of "STOP KICKING THE DAMN BALL"

I agree that joking about the Michigan defense is in poor taste

You should also remember that UCLA's 4 opponents up to this point have a combined record of 14-2, and those 2 losses were both at the hands of UCLA.
