I can't think of one fan base that would take it well if their hometown star bolts in a made for TV event. Put multiple decades of futility on top of it, and I'm impressed all they burned were jerseys.

You take them out of NYC and you have the Bucks. Never has a franchise won so little and been given so much attention. They are the poster child for East Coast bias. Two championships in NBA history. They would only be above the Pistons because of the city they play in.
Rockets haven't won anything since the mid-90s.

He just took advantage of an M-Den discount code. Nothing else to see here.

He still can't hit. Still, I'd like to see Avila get a couple starts a week, maybe play him when JV or Anibal pitches.

Now it's NCAA '14 and Red Stag. That dark liquor makes me sicker on NCAA.

Plus Hoke was thought to be the choice well before any annoucement. He had time to gauge interest from other coaches. The incredible difference is that one is Brady Hoke and the other is Jim Harbaugh. His connections based on his previous coaching stops and his successes there far outweigh Hoke's.

Dombrowski built up the Expos farm system to where it was the best in baseball. They probably play for the W.S. if there's no strike in 1994. Just look at the players they drafted and traded away in the 90s. He built that system. Then he built an expansion team (Marlins) into a two-time W.S. winner, despite the terrible ownership situation down there.
Then he comes here and turns a 120 loss team into a World Series contender. His track record over 30 years in the MLB gives him some forgiveness on a couple bad moves. It's easy to be the GM in NY, LA or Boston where players want to play. Detroit always has to pay more to get guys. How do you think we got Pudge or Magglio?
His only failing IMO is that bullpen. It's been a mess for a few years despite his efforts.

I hope his name gets called for the HOF. It's not his fault he played with either superstars on the DRW or middling talent in Buffalo and St. Louis. Still, he took those teams to playoff berths.
|4 days 12 hours ago||He missed more than half||
And still put up 10-10--20 in the playoffs.

That was less than perfect also. As a fan, I was pissed. But once I realized how awful the front office was, my anger was focused on the front office. And I went from being angry at Sergei for leaving, to understanding that he had one last big contract to get in his life and Anaheim was willing to give it to him.
Plus, Sergei was here 12-13 years and dominated most of those years. If that's not long enough to get your number retired, I don't know what is.

If that's your basis, the Lions shouldn't have retired Barry's number. The Wings don't win three of those Cups without Federov, who was arguably the best player in the game for a 5+ year stretch. While Yzerman was threatened with trades to Ottawa until he became a better two-way player, Federov was playing defense when needed, and doing it at a high level.
And Fetisov? Solid, not spectacular. They can retire his number in Moscow or New Jersey where he may have earned it.
|4 days 15 hours ago||Should've been retired already||
But I'm happy to see both sides coming together on this. While they're at it, they should retire Konstantinov's jersey.

My school, Benedictine in Detroit, produced Derrick Alexander and that was about it. School shut down about 10 years ago and the football field is gone. In my four years there, they may have made it to the state tournament once.

They have the benefit of not seeing his schtick for 10-15 years. I'll give them a pass.

And they trust the person they met and have the relationship with, not someone's opinion of that person. And most recruits have a passing knowledge of who Cowherd is. I only know of him because I have satellite radio.
I'm not sure if the CAPS and "devour" talk is sarcasm, but this is only a topic because there's nothing else to talk about.
|5 days 15 hours ago||Highly doubtful||
Cowherd is not Stephen A. Smith, who the kids follow more. And even if they saw/listened to the interview, they wouldn't give two squats about it. A few minutes of a pointless interview will not impact a months long relationship.

Only equivalent up here would've been if Moeller worked with shady members of the Victors club to push Bo out (Only a dream that Sparty could dream).
So the complete opposite of that is Moeller pleading with Bo to stay as HC, even if it meant Bo doing a whole lot less and Mo doing a whole lot more (Reality).
|6 days 8 hours ago||We signed him...||
...because we didn't keep Jiri Hudler the previous offseason. Hudler's making $4mil a year while Weiss was signed to a deal making almost $5mil. Apparently Jordin Tootoo and Mikael Samuelsson and now Weiss were not enough to make up for Hudler's absence.
|6 days 8 hours ago||And Brendan Smith is getting 2.75mil per year?||
13 points in 76 games for an "offensive-minded" defenseman? Dude was a scratch in a couple playoff games. Unless Blashill said some really good things about Brendan, this makes no sense.
