It was bittersweet to watch…

It was bittersweet to watch back then considering how disappointing those Final Fours were.

His Wikipedia page is updated, so I guess it's happening!

Nobody's drinking the…

Nobody's drinking the Gatorade if we hire him.

Has Draymond gotten into…

Has Draymond gotten into trouble off the court? Serious question. I'm okay with my athletes being dicks on the court and staying out of trouble off the court.

I promise you you're not in…

I promise you you're not in the minority.

How many times have those…

How many times have those upsets on the first weekend benefitted his team?

Last night is a perfect example of why I held onto my YTTV account. Wagner v Howard (my wife's alma mater - so I'm biased) was a great game and CSU blew out a Power 5 team still living off a national title a couple years ago. Izzo's just pissed because he's about to go home with his top 3 recruiting class in a few days.

They swung for the fences…

They swung for the fences and hit a ground-rule double IMO. Beilein left for the same reason why Howard was fired: These dudes leave (NBA or transfer) so dang quick these days. We can do a postmortem on why these guys transferred out or left just to be a G-League role player, but Beilein and Howard had a similar issue when it comes to player retention. The difference is that JB knew how to recruit developmental guys and actually develop them.

I'd wear something neutral…

I'd wear something neutral. If you wear anything Michigan, then you might end up having to talk about Stallions to fans of any school. Do you want to deal with that for two days or do you want to just enjoy basketball? That place is going to be overrun with UNC (The Timeout) and Tennessee (Peyton was robbed) fans.

Every major program does…

Every major program does that unless they already have their guy lined up. Pretty sure Sherrone was given the keys to the Cadillac without a search firm being involved.

Those firms can do the vetting and other backend tasks that he nor anyone on the staff can do.

One of my biggest complaints…

One of my biggest complaints last year was the lack of Edwards and Corum on the field at the same time. I hope that even if Mullings or Hall are the primary "between the tackles" RB, they keep him on the field for 70+% of the snaps. We're Michigan. We shouldn't be afraid of two-back sets.

I live in Sherwood Forest in…

I live in Sherwood Forest in Detroit and people have stayed in this neighborhood or an adjoining one because the Detroit Golf Club is a quick walk. It's a two minute drive from Woodward which will get you downtown in 10-15 minutes and to all the great eats in Royal Oak/Birmingham in the same amount of time.

Justin Fields would've…

Justin Fields would've beaten Detroit twice if the team didn't crap the bed here. I guess that's why they need the toilet paper.

Chicago is going to look stupid in three years when Caleb leaves to go back to LA and Justin Fields is playing at an elite level. Yes, I believe Chicago is making a mistake.

That's Ryan Turell. He's…

That's Ryan Turell. He's Orthodox Jewish and plays on Sabbaths which is interesting, but he walks to games or practices on that day. I hope they don't play too many road games on Friday night or Saturday.

I assumed that Beilein left…

I assumed that Beilein left because he didn't want to coach today's college athlete in this world of NIL and transfer portal. It's worse now than it was then.

I don't have an issue with…

I don't have an issue with the decision, but this is a sadder day for me than all of the losses from the last three years combined. The happiest day of his teenage years should've been the day he committed to Michigan, but it was the saddest day with his grandmother dying.

He gave everything he had for three years on the hardwood, and almost willed us past Arkansas to a third straight Final Four. On top of that, he wasn't part of the Ed Martin stink.

Maybe things would've turned out better if Jett went to Tennessee and Jace to a smaller school. I don't know. You'd have to play feelingsball to find a reason to keep him, because there was serious regression and it's not like he had a top 5 class coming in. But man, it sucks when you have to let one of your iconic players go and I was really hoping at least one of the Fab Five would finally get to cut down the nets.

Squint hard enough and you…

Squint hard enough and you see that kid is trying to break free of a scarlet and gray slide.

The only good thing about…

The only good thing about Ohio (besides you and our other M brethren) is that I can get a couple cases of Yuengling with a quick 45-minute drive to Toledo.

I kinda miss slacking off…

I kinda miss slacking off during the noon window because it seemed like were were always in that 1 vs 8/9 game. I'm sure it happened but I can't remember playing on a Thursday or Friday night in the BTT.

I'm here for the Friday Pos…

I'm here for the Friday Pos-Bang!

If he would've done that, he…

If he would've done that, he would've fired Beilein, Bakich and Harbaugh. You win some, you lose some.

It's a CYA move to remove…

It's a CYA move to remove any biases from the evaluation. Look at MSU's BoT for a recent example. An outside firm looked at all the shenanigans and suggested the Governor remove two of their trustees. Based on their findings, the BoT voted to refer the case to the Gov and now it's in her court.

An outside firm may just give school the legal backing to fire either Manuel or Howard for cause.

I would totally buy that…

I would totally buy that shirt, just for angry wolverine dude on the right.

Can two things be right?

1…

Can two things be right?

1. Hunter made the right decision for himself. Him staying doesn't change our archaic transfer rules and we still wouldn't be a title contender.

2. If he would have stayed, his senior leadership could have been a steadying influence with the coach out and could have impacted the W-L record to where it wouldn't be historically bad.

Considering they are…

Considering they are hemorrhaging athletic directors, they should probably focus on their glass house.

I was thinking that there…

I was thinking that there was a correlation between one day of practice and him leaving. I thank you for your sacrifice to confirm my suspicions.

There's a reason why Chip failed in the NFL and UCLA. He has a crazy way of doing things that doesn't relate to the NFL player and now today's CFB player.

I thought the game was at…

I thought the game was at noon and felt no remorse about missing it. I will remember to repeat this feeling in nine hours.

Didn't realize the Wings…

Didn't realize the Wings fell that hard. Just two weeks ago, it looked like they might snag a coveted top 3 spot in the division. I would also say that they didn't do themselves any favors at the trade deadline. I don't know if that was an Yzerman call or ownership, but this generation of Ilitch ownership is not about going all-in at the trade deadline.

Is he like 10 years older…

Is he like 10 years older than anyone else on the coaching staff? I kid, but it's funny how 55 makes you the grandad of the coaching staff.

Wasn't the message for the…

Wasn't the message for the Utah game something like F*** Utah. I think it was the message itself that was the concern.

The way AAU structures their…

The way AAU structures their season (essentially the whole dang year), AAU teammates play together way more than HS teammates.

Considering he missed…

Considering he missed important games last year, including the postseason, I'd be a bit concerned about his health. Bakhtiari went from All-Pro to injury prone to released pretty quickly.

Looking at the list of Mr…

Looking at the list of Mr. Basketball's and it's amazing how many of those guys went to MSU. A fewer percentage went to Ann Arbor, but had a higher success rate in terms of getting guys to the League.

While I'd like to see the…

While I'd like to see the Lions retain their full offensive line, I'm also okay with them signing a next-tier FA guard on a one-year deal and draft Zinter in the 3rd round. Total homer perspective, but I'm okay with that.

I like the idea of bringing…

I like the idea of bringing Luke back. If this team played any semblance of defense, this could have been, at worst, an NIT team.

Pretty sure Mike Barrett is…

Pretty sure Mike Barrett is going to be AD next year and play for [Insert NFL Team Name].

What about the A-Train?

What about the A-Train?

When McNabb played at the…

When McNabb played at the Big House, it was like watching Barry Sanders with an arm. I don't see the comparison.

Tarpley would be my starting…

Tarpley would be my starting PF. People seem to forget how good he was. He averaged 20/10 his Junior year. Dude threw away a HOF career with substance abuse issues but there's no doubt in my mind that him and Webber would have been unstoppable on the court at the same time.

What's funny is that she's…

What's funny is that she's the one that brought all this crap to light.

There's a lot of irony in the whole situation, all the way down to the fact that the race card is being played. Their now former interim president had a reputation among faculty circles of supporting more minority faculty members. I mean, she was being embarrassed and publicly humiliated and she should have been an ally.

Firstly, I wonder if…

Firstly, I wonder if Sanderson wrote that or his lawyer.

Secondly, this sounds perfectly worded if you're trying to get a guy fired that you don't like.

Thirdly, there are a bunch of witnesses according to this email. I can't believe Warde would be dumb enough to keep Howard on the sideline if all these guys backed up Sanderson's story.

Finally, why is this being handled over email and not in person? I mean, at least do a Zoom and record the meeting for transparency sake.

Here's a little nugget I…

Here's a little nugget I found out: Michael Kosta was an assistant tennis coach here in the early 2000s. Dude's got game.

Who's your best lineup? It's…
Who's your best lineup? It's Edwards and Mullings and Loveland on the field.

Are two-back sets not a thing anymore? I thought we missed a great opportunity to exploit defensive mismatches by putting Blake and Donovan back there at the same time. Both can catch the ball out of the backfield. I don't know how Mullings is as a receiving back, but putting those guys out there at the same time could be a good wrinkle.

Michael Barrett needs to…

Michael Barrett needs to find a home in Detroit. He seems like the type of quotable, high energy guy that MCDC would love.

A thousand times, no. It's…

A thousand times, no. It's already bad enough that 8+ teams from the same conference can get in now. I haven't seen any numbers to see if we've had a national champ that finished below fifth or sixth place in their conference, but I bet that number is miniscule. Expanding the field just puts more unqualified teams in the mix.

The Lions have needs at CB…

The Lions have needs at CB and DE, but my gosh they're extremely thin in the secondary. I will say though, that if Zinter is still hanging out there in the third round, I would trade up to get him. We don't need him to be a Day One starter. But my gosh, if he's ready to contribute by the postseason, our running game may be lethal and hard to stop with a second half lead.

Wasn't he the speed guy in…

Wasn't he the speed guy in 2020-2021? That's my only concern with him. To go from the speed guy to "is he fast enough" would be worrisome. Hopefully it's a matter of shedding some bulk to erase those 40-time concerns.

Rob "Cornball brother"…

Rob "Cornball brother" Parker? Yeah, so I'm not giving 97.1 or 1270-AM my listening dollars. I'll still to Sirius/XM.

I guess "Welcome to the B1G"…

I guess "Welcome to the B1G" FSU? I'm now fully onboard with the belief that FSU to the SEC can't happen due to this broken relationship with ESPN.

I had no idea there was a…

I had no idea there was a Jac Collinsworth. I also have no idea why people keep pumping up ND with their Charmin soft schedule.

NBC wanted to reward them (Eagle/Blackledge), so while they will continue to primarily focus on the Big Ten prime-time matchups if the network deems a Notre Dame game the most attractive on its schedule for a given week, then the duo will call the game.

So, we'll be seeing plenty of Eagle/Blackledge in the B1G this year.

Who else is better to tell…

Who else is better to tell us what's wrong with college football than the man who benefitted from those ills for two decades? Jimbo's not doing anything, so I'm sure he knows some stuff he can add to the conversation.
