I thought for sure, in January, we'd have received personal calls at dinner time from "student-athletes" imploring our continued donations (not even a low- or mid-level marketing staffer, of which we now have dozens). Nope. Silence. But I WAS told my last chance via AD email, (kind of like a MLB Steve Howe last chance) the opportunity to renew my PSD was the day before the pre-sale of Man U v. Real Madrid tickets...3 months after the original due date.
I think your guesstimate is pretty accurate for the 2014 renewal period. Don't forget, the AD had PLENTY of tickets in hand prior to the 2013 season, and couldn't GIVE them away for that game against Akron last year, even with a healthy cut in prices to buy a 4 pack, get programs, hot dogs/drinks and a 3-D poster (at least one poster, possibly 4).
No worries, mate. Cue the humble brag bras to ride to the rescue in mere moments, telling us how they'll increase their ticket purchases THIS year, with THIS slate of games.

People, please note: During the 2013 season, the mgoblue dynamic ticket model had between hundreds and THOUSANDS** of seats available on the Thursday/Friday before the game, EVERY game. This means that not only were plenty of seats available to add to your haul last year, but you'd have had better games to enjoy with your upgrade/increase. Don't increase this year, because there are now even MORE tickets available, with this lousy slate. Buy next year.
**Akron announced attendance was below 109,000, including the Ath Dept counting of every hanger on, recruit, player, band member, media member (which usually takes our tallies up over 113k). And that was WITH the $200 for 4 seats, programs, 3D poster and hot dog inducement.

The AD will change their tune either when DAB is gone, or when they've had a few years of having to work to make the stadium appear full, due to declining sales of season ticket packages.

The 2013 Akron game showed us that. $200 for 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 programs and, as an added bonus/late addition, a 3D poster, too (possibly 4 posters, not sure). And with all that, the announced/inflated attendance was 107k. Meaning we were still short by 5000 buyers of selling out.
Read a rumor here that "recent grads" would get an invite to buy via lower cost PSD...but it's not necessarily the PSD that makes it such a lousy deal, it's the whole cost added together...with the lousy opponents factored in.
I scoff at those who made money selling tickets as well (per other post)...these people probably never lose in Vegas, either. Like you posited, you'd have to sell ND, OSU well before the season or before the losses accumulate.
I also discount those who will now suddenly buy extra seats THIS YEAR. There were plenty of seats available to add to your season ticket order last year...this with a schedule worth paying some money for. Why pay this year? Those extra seats will still be available next year, too!

Paying for Dave Brandon's folly is not the same as buying tickets in the open market and attending. You can still go to all the games you want, just pay less, same experience all the way around. And you may even find a view or two that are unique that you'd never have tried otherwise!

Had 2 tickets for 20+ years, added a second pair for the "kid plus other" about 15 years ago, combined 'em 12 years ago. And have been taking a bath on either #4 or #3 and #4 for years.
We aren't buying via the AD this year.

This is where DB's strategization to wring every dime out of the paying customer pockets, including students: Many of the posters on this board, many, if not most of the fans sitting in the other 85k seats, are alums...alums who went to as many home games as they could. Who developed the love of the game, love of the team, love for Bo, Yost, the stadium, etc.
Today's students, pushed to the fringe, won't have those memories, won't have nearly the positive glow burning within, to share this with their own kids, to establish a dream of not waiting until fall rolls around, so we can go to 6-7-8 home games again.
Today, DB thinks selling off dynamically priced Akron game packages to some family from Okemos will make lifelong fans. Dream on...

We’ve shared a few comments (Sec 1, too) with regard to the growing disappointment with several/many things related to M Football and the current handling by the AD.
As you request, let’s hope this doesn’t turn into some flame attractant! What I see is that many people realize a) there is no waiting list (announced attendance for Akron – 107k+ attests to the fact that the AD didn’t sell out all the season ticket packages they could have)…and b) the fact that there are singles available (purchase up to 4 for Saturday’s game, down from up to 6 for Minn or Neb)…so c) it tells people that the pride felt at having the largest crowd in America is not going to be ours much longer. And finally d) they want you and me to continue making that happen.
I’ve bought tickets post-graduation and been a season ticket buyer 21-22 straight years. My Victors Club point total stands over 110…so I’ve given, and given a lot/quite enough. As can be seen on the ticket price chart, I’ve been there, paying for all the Akrons, Appy States, et al. Attending all those games. No one can question my loyalty or my devotion to the program.
I guess it was a pipe dream that the AD would offer us a “loyalty rebate” or discount off the PSD, considering the foul 2014 home slate, and our years of support. Fat chance, eh?
I can’t answer why people have lashed out at you or others for not re-upping…though they tend not to be season ticket holders, nor longer term as you and me…other than what I typed in the first para.
Hope you and the missus will make a trip or three every year, but like you, the willingness to part with $2400/yr (or more) for 4 seats has evaporated. We’ll buy via the open market, let someone else donate. I may donate to the College of Engineering, but not to the AD until we have the product on the field, and the product throughout, to make the experience the rich and tradition-filled event it was while attending school.

It's unfortunate, but not surprising, that opinions people hold dear, they're gonna hold onto for dear life! To those who dismiss your comments, or MGrowOld, or others, miss the fact that while MGoReadership is a slice of fandom, and a passionate one, the reality is...we know plenty of fans who are NOT MGoBloggerati, and they are equally annoyed/fed up, and looking to dump their season tickets, too.
Fandom should not be part of this discussion.

As stated above, thousands of tickets were available...still are, for several games. Don't let anyone fool you into believing demand is so high that you can't find a ticket. Just keep looking...scalpers were standing at Stadium and Main as we walked in, charging VERY little.

Circle K added things I overlooked to include...the uniformz and unretired numbers BS. The halftime show which evolved into an advertisement for "Victors for Michigan" donation/shame/guilt grab.
It's all slick packaging, advertising the AD and lame self-promotion, rather than organic gameday activities and retaining the pageantry and everything else we all loved about football Saturdays as students.
The fantasy the AD is now imagineering, that bringing your 5-12 year old will make a Michigan fan for life...if they can't afford tickets, there will be more empty seats.
And I repeat for those who insist all tickets will be sold...at least 6000 seats are unsold and part of the single tickets available for purchase via Dynamic Pricing. My row in Section 20, from my 4th seat to the aisle, ten seats...five were occupied. For Nebraska. With an 18 game home winning streak. That model of fandom is not sustainable...and fans will vote with their wallets, once their butts have departed.

I paid $2650+ for 4 seats in Section 20 (around the goal line, ~40 rows up). Except for ND, this year, I couldn't sell an extra or a pair for anywhere close to face/paid/greater than $40 each. The dynamic model is selling tickets for less than I paid (Akron) including the PSD, and there were still thousands left prior to that game.
Anyone who thinks there's a waiting list, or hundreds/thousands of people/families interested in obtaining season tickets (replete with PSD payment), please, continue to keep that public face, insistent that my fandom is in question.
I have earned Fandom Endurance Merit badges over the years, paid PSD's, been a season ticket holder over 20 years. I have some number of Victors Club points that put me in the upper quartile/quintile of all Victors Club donors.
And yet...I'm being charged a premium price for an inferior product. I get the following:
HD screens with Dave Brandon, stupid costumed students and a few young kids, few actual replays (let alone game stats that are current to the action on the field)
Play calling that is average at best
Rawk music from dog groomers
Splashy videos telling me how my donations make life great for the rowing team, or womens field hockey
"New traditions" that don't take hold, in a sleazy, marketing-driven attempt to replace ACTUAL traditions.
How does all that make my Saturday great?
At the end of the day, I'll buy tickets on the spot market, either StubHub or some other avenue (mgoblog ticket spreadsheet), and spend the $2000 I save on Wings tickets or some other more satisfying endeavor.
See what I did there...still a fan, still supporting the team, my team. Just not getting fleeced by Dave Brandon and his band of henchmen. Thank you, no, I'll be happy to keep my money in my wallet for the next couple years until ticket prices normalize, and become more reasonable to the games actually being played on the field.

Always amazes me there are those who INSIST someone else will buy tickets if I forego the opp. Stunningly, on the dynamic mgoblue.com link, I could have bought 6 tickets to the Nebraska game if I wanted to. And I can buy up to 4 tickets for the OSU game.
Akron was a different story altogether...and 2014 is filled with Akrons, not ND's and OSU's.

There was a "Maize Out" against Wisconsin, and AT&T gave away tens of thousands of t-shirts. Probably wouldn't happen today, since the AD's brilliant HAIL program will give a student a free maize t-shirt AFTER the student attends all 6-7-8 home games (on time), >12 home basketball games, >8 home hockey games and >6 non-revenue producing games. They wouldn't want AT&T horning in on their incentivization!

The bevvy cups from years past had Pontiac logos, Coke logos, now they have Coke and Sodexho logos. Plenty of corporate names/logos on the pillars in the concourses (Marathon Oil comes to mind). The ATM's are brought to you by Huntington Bank. Actually, U-M has been very aggressive in keeping the air traffic to a minimum, citing FAA/Homeland Security concerns...which never seem to be a problem at Super Bowls over the past 10 years...but the AD can then cut out that free advertising for which they seem to think they're owed a cut.
