I agree

Don't think Coach B wants a 1 year stop gap though.  Plus, pretty sure Izzo would disown Crean for even considering Michigan.

Why all the hand-wringing about JayBaugh

2+ years ago, folks were fretting that he'd never coached TEs before and wouldn't know what he was doing.  Now folks are complaining that he's never coached RBs before and won't know what he's doing.

For many though, the RB coach is first and foremost a recruiting position, usually staffed by the young and hungry coach.  Seems to fit Jay perfectly.  I get it that Ty was both a great recruiter (best on the team) and coach (D. Smith is gonna be drafted) but Jay isn't going to coach in a vacuum and if he needs help, one of the analysts or grad assistants will also focus on RB.  Just like a grad assistant did most of the WR coaching under Fisch.

AJC Recruiting Site

If I remember correctly, LandOf10 is an Atlanta-Journal Constitution site about B1G recruiting.  They recruited Justice from The Wolverine to be their Michigan guy.

41-20 Michigan

41-20 Michigan

What they're asking for Kostas, assuming he is like his older brothers, is the athletic defense oriented player folks have been clamoring for Michigan to recruit.
So many up-sides

Young - seems to be working with Jay and Partridge

Black - not going to engage the 'I don't see color' folks, but look at all of the secondary players on the roster then determine if they would notice if the coach was black

From California - tons of recruits

Great Recruiter - seems like having another one of those would be a good thing

Ransom

Ransom Old Tom Gin... great change from the standard juniper berry fare. Drinks more like a whiskey.

As for me, a few fingers of Laphroaig 18

Gates Scholar There was a student in the team in the last few years who was a Bill Gates scholar and football walk-on. Since that is a scholarship open to all students he was allowed to keep his academic award and not count against the team cap.
Probably Wouldn't Leave But...

If I am Miami or USCw, there is one name on my list: Ryan Gossli... er, Kliff Kingsbury.  Looks like a movie star, exciting offense, and has shown the ability to trash talk Bert.

That dude with USC's talent or Miami's speed... scary.  Just make sure you find a good D coordinator.

Former Lettermen on Campus

I saw a suprise former letterman at a tailgate before the game.  I was so shocked, I had to look up a photo to make sure, but Blake Countess was on campus in head-to-toe Michigan Football gear.  The custom shirt with the #2 on the back was what first tipped me off.

Not really that close

23-6 Michigan

28-27 Michigan

"You're killing me Petey!"

That is my go to for so many varied situations.

Two Routes

Kid might be super smart, but that highlight reel only showed him needing to remember 2 routes.  A TE out and a TE cross.  I think the only time he caught something different was a out that he shaded upfield because there was no safety over the top.

bourbon Larceny flavored with a Calvados soaked apple to be precise...
Depends

How long will it take IU to fire Crean?  When they do and get a competent coach in there, they would be my pcik... assuming of course they continue to recruit like they have been.

If UM gets Brown (15) or Langford (16), then things will start looking up.

True

You are correct in your inferences

Not really

His job isn't to decide which recruits to offer, never has been and isn't going to be.  That is a coach's job.  He's not a coach despite being referred to as one by the recruits.

On the Job

Singletary is in the office and on the job right now.  IF he isn't going to be retained, everyone might want to adjust their recruiting expectations down for the near future.  He is the connect to recruits, let's just say it'll be a rough transition without him.

I Agree

He did scouting for IMG to target which college players the agency wanted to go after.  Plus, he predated Hoke and though I could be wrong Rich Rod.  He's one of Lloyd's guys and he's the one who's been keeping the few recruits we currently have connected to UM.  I seriously doubt he's on the way out.

Noticing it more I too have taken notice of the Non-nude but still NSFW avatars lately. Never considered myself an old fogey, but the person at the desk next to mine is a woman. That's not a good look for a workplace. And for those of you questioning why you would be on a sports blog at work, you must never have worked in an office. People don't work 100% of the time in the office. There are studies that show that taking a break every hours or so makes you more productive.
QWash Just a little FYI, Q. Washington is also a member of Omega Psi Phi and was initiated while he was on the football team. Now seeing a 300 lb D-lineman performing that "hop" during a game would've been priceless.
Almost 40... I am way too old to care and I think these look good. Wearing the same clothes for 20 years isn't tradition, it just means you haven't bothered to try anything else.
The surprise will not be us or 'ville

Look at his list, what do all of the schools outside of us and Louisville have in common?  Hint: It's the same thing that is shared with Kennard's AAU team, the King James something or other.

Yep, you guessed it, it's the swoosh.  He is a Nike recruit and will go to a Nike school.  It would be a shock if he doesn't choose the swoosh.  It's all about the sneaker money.

BTW, this is not an indictment against our Adidas contract, just an observation.

Awesome

This was just perfect!

Thank You

Richard Sherman is the best corner in football and was the best corner on the field last night.  The 49ers treated him like Deion Sanders and just avoided whatever side of the field he was on until that last play.

I am just curious why everyone here is all butt hurt that he had a Darius Morris moment.  "Get the F@#@ off my court!"  He is far from a thug, even though he did grow up in Compton and has dreads and for a few moments was a load black man.  He is not in need of media training, I will point to that Stanford Communications degree for that.  He is cocky, he is arrogant, and he is the BEST corner in the NFL.

Sage wisdom

My bad...

Sorry, reading is fundamental.

Norfleet Fumble?

Norfleet lost a fumble?  Was this the botched special teams play?  If so, it wasn't a lost fumble as Delano Hill recovered.

Thanks

I knew what word he was going for but my mental dictionary wasn't firing and I just couldn't get the right word to come up.

Agreed Izzo's style is going to continue to win games as long as he is coaching. Same with Bo Ryan, that is until they start calling fouls in the B10 the way they do in the ACC.
Transfer They had an in-season transfer, so adding the second commit is not a surprise. Adding a commit that was originally a Minny signed isn't exactly stealing commits from Middle Tennessee State
Not buying

I would agree that in the past THJ took a lot of bad shots, but this year that was not the case.  A lot of the shots he missed in the tourney were on drives and foul line area jumpers, those are not bad shots.  Sure he missed some in the offense 3's, but they were in the offense and not bad shots.

Label him a streaky shooter if you like, but he (at least this year) was not a poor shot taker.

Love Coach Beilein's Reactions

After the McGray layup, we get the 'YES!' single-clap.

After the Spike steal and layup, we get the What?-Gotta get off my stool and applaud that clap.

Just the last two games? Just curious about this selection of the team, was it just for the last two games? Because McLemore was horrible until the Michigan game. Stauskas was only great for one game. I think Timmay was more deserving than Nik. As for MOP, Burke was a dominant point guard and the engine for the best offense in the region.
HAIL As a father now, this was even sweeter than the Fab 5 or 89 teams since my son was watching by my side. I never expected a 20 point win, I felt like I was in shock the entire game.
My brackets say Sparty

My childhood rooting interests were Sparty except when they played Michigan.  So even though I loathe the current state of Spartan fandom, I will be rooting for them and the B1G.  I want an all B1G final four.  That is the absolute best thing for the league and my team.  Plus it will be the ultimate shutthehellup to Barkley.

Speaking of Laimbeer

Doyle's dad had a cup of coffee with the Pistons before he went overseas to play.  Not sure it quite fits, but it is that whole pro father legacy thing again.

Gee Thanks!

Now I have to spend a significant portion of my day actually considering the random thoughts of Jose Canseco.  Specifically, what internet blog did he find his theories on?  Because there is no way he came up with that lucid a theory by himself.

Probably didn't hurt

I'm sure knowing that you will be back in your home state for a game your freshman year is not a downside.  Not sure how much of a factor it played, but it is a good point.

Not quite

Chris worked for IMG Football after graduating Michigan.  He left them for the job he has now.

Pot meet Kettle

Everyone around here realizes that when Commitapalooza occured last year, the interwebs were all aflutter with talk of Michigan cheating.  No one here would believe that, so why do we assume that Ole Miss is?

Nkemdiche has a brother on campus that lead the team in tackles.  Treadwell has Standifer, who lest we forget, was the person that first brought Treadwell to Michigan.  Connor went to high school in the area.  And that DT out of JC was an Ole Miss recruit before he had to go to JC.  The story on the rest is easy, get them all on campus at the same time, and have the top guys recruit the other top guys.

I'm not saying there is no possibility of 'extra benefits' - likely of the female variety - but there are also reasonable explainations for the recruits as well.

The Primer was for '14 recruits

If I remember correctly, the Tremendous primer was for 2014 RB recruits.

Love the details

But id Desmond eating a bag of Dileo's?  Are they are least 'Threat' flavored?

Not quite 50 But I have a buddy that's a cop in his late 30s that should arrest Delano for stealing his current photo
Point Taken

But it won't be Kalis replacing him, he's a guard. It'll be Magnuson or Braden (my guess Braden if Schofield moves to LT and Magnuson is Schofield stays at RT).

Stauskas Future Prospects

I laugh everytime someone else does it, finding the 'white guy' comparison to Stauskas.  Yet in trying to project forward to a lights out shooter at a major program, I kept coming up with 'white guy' comparisons.  In recent memory, there are only 2 players that come to mind that had Stauskas' lights out shooting and utter lack of conscience: JJ Redick and Adam Morrison.

Both were POY level players.  I think Nik could be better than either because unlike JJ he actually has the size to be a shooting guard, but also has enough of a handle to play the point in a pinch.  And unlike Morrison, he is a good athlete and seems willing and able to pass.

Pretty nice to have that guy as your third/fourth best player in the rotation.

Nice donation rate

50 mins since the last update and after my contribution, the donation total is up $180 to $9158.  At a rate of $3.6/min this should be wrapped up in the next few hours.

Tremendous

Just Tremendous

You're Killing me Petey!

"Sunshine" Ronnie Bass is a great reference, but can you reference a guy from a movie that was playing a guy that actually existed and looked nothing like the guy from the movie?
