I live in one of the most beautiful areas of the world. Land is cheap. I have one neighbor within shouting distance, and there's still, somehow, reasonable internet. I am literally surrounded by state and national parks and civilization can be reached if absolutely necessary. Otherwise I enjoy being far away from people.

So out in 4 corners area, and the best beer for 50 miles in any direction is the Dolores River Brewery. The problem is they're hit and miss. If it's good though it's pretty spectacular (looking at you upcoming holiday seasonal). If i'ts bad it can get pretty dicey.
Legalwife used to brew before she got pregnant with Son of Legalblue (or Daughter, hoepfully Son). that was always a good time. A basic setup to make beer is a couple hundred bucks. It's worth trying a couple times before you decide whether or not it's for you. Also be prepared to like your beer way more than your friends do.

Well last game at the Big House. We beat OSU. I was 8 and my Dad took me. It was what started my absolute love of Michigan football. I still have the ticket stub somewhere I think...

My Mom recieved a letter from the University of Michigan my sophmore year relating to a party that was thrown at my fraternity. It indicated, amongst other things, that underage alchol consumption had occured. The only criminal matter that arose from that party was a noise ticket as far as I'm aware. There weren't any other reprecussion with the University either. The IFC had a field day with it , but it's not quite the same thing. I was not placed on probation or any sort of suspension through the University nor was anyone else in the house. It might have been threatened in that letter though I can't recall for sure. Still, I believe that my mom and I had a less than pleasant phone conversation that day.
I don't see this as some massive shift in policy of notifying parents of bad behaviour. It certainly applied more stringently to all members of the Interfraternity Council as far back as the early 2000s.

Grant Perry is Avant 2.0. In terms of players that give you that safe secure feeling Avant is right up there with Kovacs. When the ball went his way you knew he was coming down with it.

Least Informative Press Conference of all time.... OMG I'm so nervous I'm having a hard time with the envelope! YEAH! It's Coach Durkin! Come on up and collect your prize. We'd have you say a few words, but since they would impart exactly no information we'll forgo that., but can I get a "yeah!"

A glass of Talisker and the (tiny) pond outside my front door. Just give this one to me it took me weeks to get the pump working right.
|6 weeks 5 days ago||Preseason Optimism||
It's my drug of choice right now too. That being said it's not in anyway reasonable to expect that. Even from a team with proven leaders and capable players at every position an undefeated season is extremely unlikely. Ask Saban about that.
In 3 years when this team has proven leaders and capable players at every position we'll be talking about how an 8 win season is the absolute floor and hey maybe if things break just right and Michigan gets a lucky bounce or two they could be holding a National Championshp Trophy come January.
RIght now 8 wins seems like a darn good season.
|10 weeks 5 days ago||Somebody has to get them the ball||
I think taking much of anything from the 2014 season as a basis for comparison is doing the WR corps a diservice. The fact of the matter is Michigan had a #1 target and he was injured and prone to drop the football. Other than that no one really had a chance to shine out thee because the ball never came to them. If we have a QB that has time in the pocket and can make reasonable decisions I think even a mediocre group of recievers can look good. If the QB is getting knocked around and is throwing into pressure even an excellent group of recievers is going to look bad.
I think the only reasonable thing we can say is that there are athletes at the WR position and their overall value to this team is going to be largely dependent on who is getting them the ball.

Saw a UFO once. Don't mean an alien spacecraft necessarily, just an object in the sky flying around that I couldn't ID easily, and sort of scared the hell out of me. It happened when I was pretty young and sparked a life long obsession with the subject.
The most interesting point of the discussion to me is the resolution of the Fermi Paradox. I tend to think that maybe we have been visted, but it's also clear that there's no definitive evidence that's happened. If you have 6 minutes here's a fun video about the Fermi Paradox.

His first snap at QB was a touchdown and every snap thereafter felt like he might take it the distance. This on top of being an amazing ambassador for the University. I hope one day, a long time from now, when his playing career is wrapped up he is able to be retun to U of M in some capacity.

Is I wouldn't be able to get into Michigan anymore?
|14 weeks 23 hours ago||The first line of this post||
Yeah I read it, but looking between the lines what it really says is: "Ace has escaped Brian's basement of pain. We are swiftly working to recaputre him and should have him back in a week or so."
|15 weeks 23 hours ago||yeah it's more substantial||
But it's more a difference in degree than a difference in kind. Placing young attractice females in a position to interact with a recruit isn't exactly new, but what it implies is kind of slimy. Photoshoping a recruit on the cover of a magazine and showing them Big Ten/National title while perhaps not telling the whole truth is more an aspirational type of goal. There's at least a non skeezy implication behind it. All that being said college football recruiting is not a clean business this particular recruit looked to be having an enjoyable time (because of course). I hope he has a great recruiting experience, and makes a choice that's a good fit for him, and no I'm not implying that kind of choice or that kind of fit (you all have filthy minds).
