If you want to bar hop, I recommend parking in Lafayette (across the river) somewhere on Main Street and slowly making your way to the game. Stop by Lafayette Brewing company for craft beers and great food, DT Kirbys for the Chicago bar feel, Chumleys for over 100 beers on tap. You can hit Scotties, then Jakes, and you should hit Harry's for the Purdue nostalgia bar. The last three are considered more of the Purdue bars. It is probably a 1.5 mile walk in all, but lots of stops on the way and it lets you sober up on the way back (remember that they serve beer in the stadium). It lets you get out easy as well."

Yeah, it is pretty obvious. The three areas I cited are the main areas. |
30 weeks 4 days ago | Another thread |
There is another thread about the Purdue game here:
http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/purdue-game-ticket-information
I posted this in that thread: "Parking is free everywhere except a few areas for tailgating. The golf course and north side of the stadium lots charge along with the intramural fields and surrounding areas sourhwest of Ross-ade stadium. |

I live in Lafayette and while I agree the town isn't fabulous (it is heavy industry), I think your friend just doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. Lafayette has the most restaurants per capital of any city in Indiana. Literally, the whole downtown is packed with family owned, non-chain restaurants. It's one of the things Lafayette is known for. |

39 weeks 1 day ago | This is all good advice |
I live in Lafayette and Santosbfree's advice is good. I highly recommend People's brewery. The Lafayette Brewing Company on Main St. is decent as well. I definitely think you should experience Harry's. It is the Purdue bar. A couple people have mentioned that the south end zone is the visitors section. That is no longer the case. They tore the bleacher seats out and it is now an alcohol friendly area filled with Purdue fans that can afford ten dollar beers. The North end zone will have a few sections dedicated for UM fans but they aren't good seats. Even though it is homecoming, the crowd won't be that good because Purdue sucks. They will lose a couple games and tickets will be cheap. My recommendation would be to go to the Purdue website and get some of the $30 tickets and you will be able to sit just about anywhere on the east side of the stadium. My family of four usually buys the cheap seats and sit over there. |

Best round was 72 (Even) as well and we play the same way. Two off of #1 if we don't shoot range balls first. On the back nine of my even round, I shot a 4 on every hole Birdied the par 5s and bogeyed yah par 3s. On 18, I had about 8 feet for birdie and 3 putted... Sent from MGoBlog HD for iPhone & iPad |

I think a lot of people forget that we still have Stuckey. Stuckey will never live up to his potential but he is a good 3rd option at guard with Billups/Jennings/KCP in there as well. I didn't include Datome because I have no idea what to expect from him. If I had to guess, he will fill the old Jon Barry role: Come in and immediately do a heat check. If he hits a couple, you leave him in there, if not...sit him down quickly before he kills you defensively. |

4 years 42 weeks ago | This is excellent advice. I |
This is excellent advice. I know we are talking about you doing basketball, but you mentioned baseball as a possibility in the future. Baeball parents are HORRIBLE. They are heavily involved and their kid was a little league all-star...because everyone who is decent is a little league all-star. |
4 years 42 weeks ago | I used to coach two sports |
I used to coach two sports every year. The first two years of my teaching career, I coached basketball and baseball. The next two years, I coached basketball and golf. It was A LOT but really enjoyable. The golf was a really nice break compared to the team sports (despite the fact that you technically play as a team...you know what I mean). Basketball is a really long season compared to the fall and spring sports especially if you get into doing the holiday tournaments which completely kills your xmas if you have any traveling to do. In terms of coaching, I think basketball is one of the hardest sports to coach, although not as difficult as football. There are a lot of intricacies to the game that need to be taught. I am not sure what level you would be coaching but the higher the level, the more complex it is. Coaching JV or a Freshman team may be a good place to start. The kids move so much slower and a lot is done with player/skill development rather than running an team offense and defense. I think where you may run into an issue is the offseason conditioning. I imagine there will be a bunch of overlap during the spring and summer. That was the main reason I switched from baseball to golf. Yes, I took the easy way out. |

Chumley's is across the river just off State St/IN 26/South St (122 N 3rd St, Lafayette, IN) on the Lafayette side of the river. They have a TON of beers on tap. However, I recommend Harry's and Triple XXX if you want the true "Purdue" experience. |
