The game against ND that that gif is from was one of the funnest games I went to in undergrad. IIRC we won 210-0 and sacked Jimmah 84 times. Chants of "JIM-MY CLAU-SEN" rang out late in the game as the fanbase recovered a little of swagger after the back-to-back humiliations of The Horror and Spreadmageddon against Dennis Dixon.

MGoWon'tLetMeEditThatPost: Just noticed the Chat Sports article was from yesterday. If no one else was reporting it and Twitter and MgoBlog didn't blow up yesterday as a result of this article then maybe it's just hot air.
THERE IS NO DEPTH TO MY SHAME IN POSTING ARTICLE.
I stand by George Michael's hopefulness in that gif, anyway.

I'm sorry, damn it, I should have done the due diligence of thinking for 4 seconds about whether or not to link to a website I'd never heard of. I'll do better next time.

Something called "Chat Sports" is also saying this. Grains of salt apply because I've never heard of Chat Sports before and no named sources, but:
Two independent sources - one with ties to Michigan’s Athletic Department, and one who has known Jim Harbaugh for over 35 years – have each confirmed to Chat Sports that Harbaugh is indeed set to become Michigan’s head football coach, and the move will be announced on December 30th…unless he backs out on a verbal agreement he has authorized his agent David Dunn to make with Michigan AD Jim Hackett.
Here's the article: http://www.chatsports.com/michigan-wolverines/a/BREAKING-Harbaugh-Will-Accept-Michigan-Offer-Barring-LastMinute-Change-Of-Heart-10-2-6148

Why do you say that? If he doesn't come but does well at his next stop but no Super Bowl and whatever plan B we end up with turns out to be Hole 2.0, why wouldn't he be back in the mix?

You're on, The Man Down Th...! First person to respond with an actual counter-bet, i.e., betting that he will come. (Sorry Jaysin, it's not a wager if we both think he's not coming).

No odds for Dan Mullen? Dang.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||This seems...||
...pretty accurate actually. A step down from the top 2-3 tiers*, but very competitive with almost anybody and a neutral-court toss-up with any team worse than Kansas, even with our defiiciencies.
*Not based on anything other than eyeball analysis, but here is how my brain is organizing top-25 teams right now. There's a clear dropoff in "likelihood of winning national championship" between each group:
Tier 1: Kentucky
Tier 2: Duke, Wisconsin, Zona, Louisville
Tier 3: Texas through Kansas
Tier 4: Carolina through Maryland (Michigan is in this group)
Tier 5: Oklahoma through Utah.
A couple of teams outside the top 25 have a chance to make deep runs in March-April, but not really. Never count out UConn, as we learned last year during the Most Enraging National Championship Ever.

He Just Heard Michigan's Not Going to Fire Brady Hoke
|3 weeks 2 days ago||I think you missed the point.||
I think you missed the point. The "NOBODY" there is "nobody better than Brady Hoke." It's not that any old MAC coach wouldn't jump at the chance to coach here, although at this point the smarter ones might not, but that if we're talking about impact on next year's season ticket sales MAC coaches don't count as "not nobody." They are nobody.

I didn't actually think the officiating was that unbalanced. A couple calls/non-calls went their way and I don't remember any going ours but at no point do I remember thinking the refs were robbing us.
This game makes me super excited about the basketball season. Michigan is so young -- Donnal looks like the world's biggest 10-year-old! -- and will spend the year growing and growing under Beilein's expert tutelage. Getting way ahead of myself here but this has the makings of a team that could surprise the hell out of people come March. Talented, uneven, still learning, don't always play 100% all the time. As they gel in all kinds of ways I think they'll end up being a pretty good team.
EDIT: This is Donnal. I know football coaches talk about recruiting kids who don't shave yet because if they're good enough to get noticed but not yet growing facial hair they probably have a lot of growing left to do. But Donnal looks like his balls haven't even dropped yet. That is a good thing.

"We"? Who is "we"? Are you really somehow disappointed that the president of the University of Michigan is not working along the preferred AD-hiring timeline of a small group of anonymous and semi-anonymous commenters on a moderately popular internet site?

Mods can impose vote counts. See, for example, Wolverine Devotee's post-emailgate million-point boost. Most likely CarolinaBlue posted something offensive or stupid or offensively stupid and got a nice big 100,000-vote neg.

Including, you have to imagine, every last drop of joy and happiness that HE got out of the program. Can't be fun getting your dream job and fucking it up with such royal completeness. So long, Brady. May you have happier days somewhere far, far away from Michigan Stadium.

|6 weeks 1 day ago||Thanks for this. Can you do||
Thanks for this. Can you do the analysis for past years? It always seemed to me like M's injury rate was higher under Barwis than other teams', as it does now for Wellman. That might just be proximity bias because I obviously pay more attention to Michigan than to other teams, but this is starting to confirm that vague suspicion.
For further reading: "Prediction of Sports Injuries by Mathematical Models" (free full text):
"Sports injuries are most commonly caused by poor training methods; structural abnormalities; weakness in muscles, tendons, ligaments; and unsafe exercising environments. ... The most common cause of sports injuries is improper training whether from a technical or tactical point of view or simply training that is poorly planned and executed (Shaffer, 2006). The athlete exposes him or herself to possible sports injuries without adequate preparation for: exposure to potential danger, the playing position or type of activity, the duration of the competition or league, competition level, time dedicated to training and to rest. These variables can be quantified and turned into predictive factors (Ferrara, 2007)."
That statement doesn't prove anything, of course. Just food for thought.

Coming in here a day late (I was in transit yesterday so missed the game) to congratulate both the punter and the counterpunter for being so close to the actual score in their guesses. Good job, gentlemen.
Not a game I'm especially sad to have missed.
