I would even more enjoy a lengthy and self-gratifying mid-season debate about who is better: Gary or Glasgow, or Mone, or Wormley, or Hurst.
ALL YOUR BACKFIELD ARE BELONG TO US.

Eddie McDoom is the winner of best name. McDoom! McDoom. Just think about it for a minute. McDoom.

Came to make a snarky comment about how chips on shoulders are not piles, they're little chunks taken out of the shoulder. Looked up etymology of the phrase to make sure I was right about that. I was wrong. There are two etymologies, one of which involves piles (well, bundles) of wood scraps. British shipyard workers used to get to carry wood scraps home as a perk of the job, to use for fuel at home. They carried the "chips" on their shoulders because that was the most efficient way to do it. Then one day the bosses realized it was costing too much, so they ordered the workers to carry the chips under their arms. Can't carry as much that way. So one day one of the workers was like F that and defiantly put his chips back on his shoulder, and all the other workers cheered. Ergo: chip on your shoulder = defiance of perceived oppressor. Source: Wikipedia.
Also, I now realize that my imagined etymology only makes sense if you're talking about a statue, which can be permanently mutilated without, well, bleeding to death.
Learned something today. Thanks MGoBoard.

No, of course not. But talking about those decisions melodramatically makes all of this more fun.

Teenagers like drama? How many of us on this board are teenagers and we're living and breathing the college choices of a half dozen 18-year-old boys over the next two days as if our entire life outlook depended on it?
Not saying teenagers don't like drama, just saying we're not exactly a sober bunch ourselves.
If Onwenu commits elsewhere tonight I may literally not be exactly sober, which is a problem because I have a job interview at 11:30 PM.

That does not change my comment. But perhaps my pronoun usage could have been clearer.

Manningham TD against Penn State with time expiring, after Carr had fought to get 1 second put back on the clock earlier in the half.
EDIT: God DAMN it, beaten by less than a minute.
EDIT2: The time stamp changes when you edit. My original post was 11:33. Anyway, balls.

Oh come on. The real reason we wanted McDoom was the name. He could be a poor man's Norfleet and I would still gleefully shout "MCDOOOOOOM" every time he came on the screen.

|2 weeks 2 days ago||Thank you, this is exactly||
Thank you, this is exactly where I fall on it. College recruiting, as long as there is forced amateurism and probably after the NCAA flies into the sun and explodes in a burst of player-destined greenbacks, is going to continue to be shady. That Harbaugh does not fly above like an angel of virtue may disappoint me as a serious but decidedly "outsider" fan (i.e. I have never had any connection to major D1 athletics). But it does not make me cringe with embarrassment or regret.
The D1 money-making sports are dirty. We are all obsessed with a major D1 program. A bit of dirt comes with the territory.

"Cue" is actually the only correct usage in that sentence, in its meaning "to prompt or direct to begin." "Queue" refers to a line of people waiting for something. "Que" is not a word in English at all.
