he will shed baby fat and gain muscle as his muscles bathe in the natural steroid bath that is puberty. he's fine. if he arrives on campus at 6'7 and 315 with a bit more muscle and bit less fat than he's carrying now he will be the same size as...jake long.
plus it'd be a bit odd to be talking about him taking on the long/lewan jersey number as a guard.

I'm feeling masochistic and would love to see UFRs for dinosaur punt coverage. ALL OF YOUR MINUS-ONES ARE BELONG TO US.

I think you mean Bowden did not deign to call for passes that threatened downfield. To say he deigned to do it would be to say that he thinks downfield passes are distasteful but he called for them anyway. The longest downfield throw was 13 yards: it seems that his distaste for unleashing the dragon won out.

Me, too, but I think that's because Mattison sounds so much more optimistic than Borges.
With the O we get a lot about how the interior line has work to do and there's "great competition" for the middle three spots, which means that no one has taken over and is dominating, which scares me. Reminds me of last year.
With the D we get, "Cam Gordon is going to be Kovacs but fast, Mario Ojemudia makes grown men's shirts look like little boys' shirts, Frank Clark can run down WRs at 275, Jake Ryan is as strong as our DL." To quote Brian, fetch my fainting couch.

To get suspended, I mean? Do we know or is just "violation of team rules" or something?
|1 year 4 weeks ago||this is deeply distressing||
I grew up in Maryland, down the street from College Park (my middle and high schools were on University Boulevard, so named for UMCP). I know this is a B1G-focused blog for obvious reasons, but let's not forget that this move fucks the ACC, too. Maryland is losing its most ferocious rivalry, and Duke is losing its Michigan State. Among everything that sucks about this for the B1G, that's really sad in my book.
It's my damn birthday today and I was looking forward to potentially two (!) consecutive years of birthdays unruined by college athletics.
This sucks so much.

|1 year 19 weeks ago||another vote for kickstarter||
was the $840 for CIL for the month of november? or just for ohio? assuming the latter, and assuming that the traffic would be at that level for all games, you're looking at <mathissoveryveryhard> $10,920 </math> for 12 regular season games plus bowl. how many individual users logged into the chats last year? 61,000 clicks does not easily translate to individuals in my brain.
but the HTTV kickstarter raised, what, $50,000? i bet if you made the CIL cost a kickstarter -- especially if you included something like "guest moderation for one game" as a reward level, "guaranteed posting of all non-pornographic comments" as perhaps the highest reward level -- you could raise a significant portion of that $11k pretty quickly. i'd donate.
that or IRC.
i don't get twitter and kind of like it that way.

How has ABC or one of the other local breweries not yet come out with a "Corperry Ale?" Seems like such a no-brainer.
It could give rise to the "Manny Harris" -- a double shot* of whiskey in a tall shot glass** depicting a puppy*** the opening of which you cover partially with your thumb****, chased by chugging a Corperry Ale.

@ish: it's not so much that he takes a while to get to top speed, it's that his COD is terrible. You can't accelerate if you can't get into the open field, and you can't get into the open field you can't evade people. I don't know, maybe he could get better, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

In particular, an explanation of what, e.g., "Michigan: +3, 28th (Baylor), 3rd (Wisconsin)" means would be awesome. My puny brain can make neither head nor tail of that gibber-jabber.
Or a link to the first place you used that stuff.

I work with a few Tajiks and, let me tell you, I would not want those people rushing me under any circumstances. They're good at fighting. See, for example, Ahmed Shah Massoud.

"Now part of that, too -- and I’m going to take the rap for that a little bit. I’ve got to get him some better throws. I’ve got to put him in position to complete some more balls so he can gain some confidence and gain some rhythm. Get in a little bit of a zone. He’s a capable passer, you know, but as a playcaller you have to consider everything we’re calling in terms of the passing game. This kid really threw the ball well in two-a-days and threw the ball well in spring. He did. All his numbers were better numbers than now. I think game situations are different. As he learns about how to do this, you’ll see progress. Because he does have a good arm, and he has an accurate arm when he’s comfortable. But part of that has to be my responsibility to get him in better situations to complete some throws."
This, this, this, this, this, this makes me happy. Denard has sucked this year as a passer but it's just marvelous to see the OC taking some responsibility and then SAYING THAT HE'S GOING TO ADAPT.

|2 years 40 weeks ago||Wellman||
I might be alone in my interest in this, but any chance you could score an interview with Aaron Wellman? Barwis is a joke and/or source of frustration among the S&C coaches that I respect. The HARDKORE WORKOUT WARRIORZ BRO!!! kitchen-sink approach might be popular with players because it appeals to the their self-image as superduper hardcore badasses, but as an actual approach to improving readiness to play it's, um, less than optimal. Gittleson was even worse with the HIT crap. From what I've heard, Wellman is something of an HIT guy as well, which worries me.
There's an MGoVideo on youtube from January where the interviewer asks Wellman literally nothing meaningful or revealing. The brief clips of workouts were either neutral or "sweet Jesus, why the fuck are they doing that?"
Anyone on here with ANY understanding of S&C have a sense of what the workout program is like now? If it's back to HIT or, worse, a mix of HIT and "functional" training, heaven help us. From the MGoVideo it looked like the latter.
|2 years 46 weeks ago||Rhabdo!||
Now at least we know where Mike Barwis got hired after we kicked him out.
Rhabdo is most well known in the fitness world from the multitudes of fucktarded, self-described "hardcore" "elite" people who do CrossFit. There is no excuse, none at all whatsoever, for a professionally supervised workout to result in anyone suffering from rhabdo. Whoever on the S&C staff was driving that workout should be fired and blacklisted.
