|48 weeks 5 days ago||Ok||
Not literal signing, then, but it's still accepting a commitment and ostensibly guaranteeing a spot. ,(Obviously the word commitment in recruiting doesn't really mean commitment).
|48 weeks 5 days ago||Attrition||
I understand attrition is certain to occur between now and signing day, but wouldn't the morally pure option be to wait for said attrition before making an offer? Obviously that would hurt the class, and I'm not in favor of it, just pointing out the hypocrisy.
|48 weeks 5 days ago||Oversigning||
I don't want to be a downer, but aren't we doing what we have criticized other schools for doing in accepting commitments from guys that we don't, strictly speaking, have room for at the moment?

That is an excellent pun.
|1 year 32 weeks ago||Non-coaches||
We should hire three foreign MIT grads that have never heard of football as co-head coaches, give them a rule book, and see what happens. At least we'd see some innovation, and they would be smart enough to throw a bubble screen on 3rd and 3 when the corners are 15 yards off the LOS.

I was wondering the same thing. Usually when a hyped recruit gets no mentions in fall practice as a sophomore, a transfer announcement is imminent.

I assume James Rodriguez is not playing either? Is he even there?

I can't tell if that is a joke or not. It looks like one of those optical illusion things that, at-a-glance, tricks you into reading "Honestly, treat women with no respect. Drugs. Stealing. Weapons."

I thought the Ross (was it Ross?) hit on Colter was similar but even better, though they got a first down on the play. Someone should GIF that.
|4 years 7 weeks ago||It makes sense (whether or not it is true)||
Staying an extra year in college does not help your draft stock. If you intend to be a professional athlete, it makes sense to start earning as early as possible because your productive years are obviously limited. He's not going to be 6'6" in two years, so he might as well start now.

I haven't read this many good puns since Nutt replaced Dick with Johnson for the Hogs.
|4 years 42 weeks ago||Detroit, Oregon||
Search 'South Detroit' on Wikipedia and it returns 'Downriver.' I believe Wolverine318 to be correct.
Alternatively, it could be the Detroit in Oregon. Per Wikipedia (again), all the Journey dudes seem to be northern Californians / San Franciscans with no connection to the midwest (save one guy who was born in Chicago and moved west later). Detroit, OR is closer to San Fran that Detroit, MI, so maybe that's what they meant.
Finally, there is a borough of Quezon City in the Philippines called Detroit. Several of the members of Journey are of Philippino descent, so that, too, could be it.

Steam has a sale on that every few weeks. I recently got all of the expansions (except for the newest one) for < $10.
It's decent, but more of a world simulator than a game. You just kind of do stuff and see what happens. You can't really take over the world and kill everybody like in, for example, Civilization.
|5 years 15 weeks ago||They are still in terrible||
They are still in terrible shape, of course, but at least there is A PLAN. The budget is getting balanced (by harsh but necessary means), schools are being consolidated, and federal stimulus funds are being invested the the district. It will be better to have fewer schools with more students if it enables the district to provide a safe environment for teachers and students (and working clocks, plumbing, etc.). If Bobb's plan can at least lead to financial stability for the district, economics will take care of some of the overcrowding issues in the long term.
These aren't immediate solutions, but the steps being taken are aligned with the consolidation of the city itself, which is a positive sign because it demostrates communication among different departments in the city government. This is in contrast to the prior administrations where nobody - the public and the administrators - knew what was going on. Also, current developments are happening under the watch of federal and state governments and the general public, which will stem some of the corruption that led to the current state of affairs.

I was being sarcastic about the commercial, but not the renaissance. At the very least, I think rock bottom is behind us. The big three are paying dividends and giving raises, buildings are being renovated, the school systems seem to be making positive progress, the presence of the entertainment industry is growing, property value decline has tapered off, and Kwame is in jail.
Also: The Lions look like a playoff team for next year (if there is a next year) and the Tigers should win the central.

Surely that Chrysler commercial with Eminem will be the catalyst to restore Detroit to greatness. We are on the cusp of a renaissance.

All the more reason to do it NOW. If we can get Jamaican and Brazilian pipelines, and some O-lineman and backers from Oz (with a little help from Russell Crowe) we can reap the on-field benefits and spread our brand across the world.

My PC got destroyed by a virus on Saturday morning. At the time, I had not opened any local programs and had only visited this site, weather.com, and amazon.com. The virus was a very obviously fake anti-virus tool that took everything over; I couldn't open any programs, not even notepad, so I couldn't run any scans or even restore my backup image (That was my ultimate solution, but I needed to boot from a repair disc).
If there's anything I did to enable it to execute, I don't know what it was. FWIW, I was using Chrome at the time and didn't get any warnings.
In conclusion, back up your systems regularly.

|5 years 19 weeks ago||The Puppetmaster?||
It is common in history / fiction to have a character to maintain a position of apparently modest power through multiple regime changes when more prominent figures are being exiled or beheaded or whatever. I present this as an analogy to Fred Jackson.
Could it be that Fred Jackson is the U of M puppetmaster, pulling the strings from the shadows whilst bigger names take the fall?
Dave Brandon should write a book called: "Yes I Can... If Fred Jackson Says it's OK."
|5 years 19 weeks ago||Designed running plays||
I noticed while watching some of the recruiting / transfer / coaching-search interludes (aka "games") that he often had the most running room when he dropped back to pass in earnest.
Thus, I think that the best option for conserving his health - and the one that would yield the most YPC - would be very few designed runs and lots of actual passing plays with a run option.
