I caught some of michigan vs nebraska at tracey’s original irish channel bar on magazine st in the garden district last year. good vibes. lots of michigan fans watching. very pretty area to walk around.
okay, thats a study showing the efficacy of wearing masks in a surgery theater to prevent surgical wound infection. it has almost zero relevance to the spread of an airborne respiratory virus with or without masks. if you want relevant information you might look to the scores of countries who haven’t been babies about mask wearing in public spaces.
this isnt just a rural problem though, which im not sure would make you feel better or worse, but maybe less alone. michigan medicine wouldnt test me despite meeting diagnostic criteria to presume i’m positive. testing criteria as of last week was still meet two of: over 70, immune compromised, or work/live in group housing. symptomatic and working with patients i believe is an auto qualifier. they told me to assume i have it, and if i did indeed have it, boy i do not wish what i went through on anybody. I’m fine with nit being tested if we are still so short on them that my test would go to someone whose course of treatment may be altered by a positive, but fuck.
I think im finally getting over it 12 days later, but i work in group housing. spreading it in my community would be potentially devastating. plus, without having been tested to know i did have it, i may just be putting myself at risk of catching and spreading it if I did not have it. this is all around a fucking disaster.
the demo derby at the munger potato fest is probably the best in the state. a little rowdy, usually late in the season so there's some jostling for championship points, and best of all you just toss your empty beer cans down from the bleachers for the boy scouts to pick up.
back when I lived just up state street I'd go to the games since they were for free just to hang out and do something out of the house on a saturday or sunday. I'd bring some light homework reading and kick it for a while.
I don't live as close anymore but I'm not far - I've been meaning to do it again sometime for old time's sake. see you next year maybe!
relegation wouldn't be fair to all the other sports where teams are performing at or above average, only to get punished by the football team - this has big $$$ implications for these smaller sports.
yeah that was bizarre. kind of confused about the no foul call there too - seemed like the guy behind him had both his hands wrapped in the crook of his elbow
yeah usually I really like these, they typically offer an interesting outsider's insight that makes it a good compliment to reading mgoblog. this time it read like someone phoning it in because taking the typical deep dive would have been too depressing.
“Michigan is coming to town Saturday, hence, there will be a ton of recruits on campus to see how Rutgers holds up against its "recruiting rival." One team is in line for the college football playoffs while the other has one win. But what a statement it would be for Rutgers to compete against a top national program in front of the top recruits in the area.”
nah, this is a homecoming game for the new jersey dudes. they're gonna want to put on a show in front of friends and family. not to mention the stadium will be filled with NYC michigan alums.
my recs: slurping turtle, knights, and though i havent been yet, i hear good things about the standard, out on jackson new venture from james beard award winner and former zingerman’s head chef alex young and i would like to go there soon.
don't know what you're in to but imo the best rock shows in detroit these days are at outer limits - they don't have anything on the schedule that far out yet, but catch a show there and chances are real good that you're going to see a detroit band and a touring act that will blow you away. it's relatively close to the original buddy's as well.

louisville is a great place to hang as well, and a pretty easy five or so hour drive from ann arbor. i might try and catch this one too.

interesting choice to highlight the crowd after that result
