Once August rolls around...

I'm an easy target.  Every hype video or glimpse of the band taking the field brings a tear.  At any other point in the year... Post-NC clip of Griese receiving MVP.  Brock Mealer (obviously).  "The Great Michigan Spirit" (Ufer).  Junior's post-Sugar Bowl MVP speech (memorably described on EDSBS as the time Hemingway "gloriously loses his shit").

Giant goofy coonhound...

...named after Bennie O but more of a McGary - sometimes gets overly enthusiastic and stumbles over his long gangly limbs but can't be beat when it comes to personality and sense of humor!

Congratulations to Meryl and Charlie!

I don't know much about ice dancing but their skating always appears to be absolutely flawless.  Go blue!!!

I met up with you all for the ND game -

nice group of folks, although only a few of us actually watched the game and stayed until the end.  I've never been to Livery Stable so I'll be curious to check it out - thanks for organizing!

YES.  This.

YES.  This.

Confirmed.

I have some.

My first game too!

Went with my dad and big sister.  I recall reading that it was the first game Jordan Kovacs attended as well.

Obviously I knew females were

Obviously I knew females were in the minority around here but WOW.

Graduated in 2008; the intense marching band calf muscles have not yet gone away.

Another IOE working in healthcare here - HCA always seems to be hiring.  Healthcare industry is a great place to work if you don't mind getting paid less than most engineers ;)

Same here.  The free taxis

Same here.  The free taxis that drove around picking up drunk students on their way home from parties used to occasionally offer to drive us to Revelli.

Best  moment of the game.

Best  moment of the game.  High-five to the camera guy who caught that.

1995, M v. Virginia - ended, of course, with Dreisbach to Hayes in the last second for the win!  I was 10 and had no idea football games were that exciting!

Cannot wait to celebrate the

Cannot wait to celebrate the start of the season with the surprisingly large number of Michigan faithful we have met in central Virginia... complete with Koegel's hot dogs and a block M-shaped cake!

I would pay a million dollars

I would pay a million dollars to see Al Borges do karaoke.

Are there any fairs around

Are there any fairs around the Cville or central VA area?

That's my dog!  Although

That's my dog!  Although people usually guess "and the Jets" over "Oosterbaan".

Former coaches provide great

Former coaches provide great names - ours is Bennie, also a yellow lab mix!

We definitely had a Michigan

We definitely had a Michigan toilet seat growing up that said "Flush twice - it's a long way to Columbus".

I definitely wore a Michigan

I definitely wore a Michigan garter for my wedding - had to represent somehow!

My husband and I have been

My husband and I have been debating various Michigan-themed names for our non-existant dogs and children for years.  As long as he doesn't vote to name a human Fielding, I'm good to go.

Both parents went to

Both parents went to Michigan... grandpa taught my older sister all about Michigan football, she taught me and the rest is history!

Nope - the one with her hat

Nope - the one with her hat sideways, gansta-style.  Awesome.

I'm fairly certain one of

I'm fairly certain one of those sorority girls is my future sister-in-law.  Sigh.  I have a lot to teach her.

That game holds a special

That game holds a special place in my heart as it was my first ever game in the Big House - I was 9 and had no idea what was going on other than that the ending was crazy exciting.

2005 Penn State may be my #1... sitting on the field with the marching band to witness that Manningham catch and then rushing the field was unforgettable.

Fellow Cvilllian here - I'm watching with some Tech fans but they're all friendly.  Hopefully we're still friends at the end of the game.

The segment was about Molk's

Very touching - I'd be lying if I said I didn't tear up a bit!

Go Blue from central

Go Blue from central Virginia!  Will be watching the game with some Hokies - let's hope I see some sad faces tonight!

CANNOT. WAIT.

CANNOT. WAIT.

Absolutely.  The difference

Absolutely.  The difference is very obvious when you see a player from another team interviewed - "I've done a lot for my team" and "I think I deserve ____ award", etc.  Our young men are always very humble and respectful of their teammates and coaches.  It's great to watch them get rewarded for their hard work and perseverance!

Excellent parenting, clearly.

Yes!  Hyperbole and a half is the best.

I also love the description of Denard as "classes".  Um... thanks?

One of the alumni

One of the alumni associations (Richmond?) is also hosting a tailgate at the Abbott Building - I hope to see plenty of maize around town tomorrow!

I would like to spend the

I would like to spend the rest of the day watching a continuous loop of Denard and Roy doing their victory dance.

I can't help but wonder if

I can't help but wonder if the band put less time into Saturday's show and instead got a head start on the OSU show during this past week.  Just a guess.

I think my heart grew a few

I think my heart grew a few sizes after reading this!

Great to see the respect between the players on the field as well...

You'd be surprised ;)

You'd be surprised ;)

I remember that.  We couldn't

I remember that.  We couldn't believe it was really him.

A couple years later we were standing on the field as his family processed into the Big House for his memorial service... a very sad day indeed.

UFRs are always fun to read

UFRs are always fun to read after a win, but MGoOprah here has really taken it to the next level this week - points for everyone!

The scribbled comments on the

The scribbled comments on the pictures never fail to crack me up.  Any chance BlueSeoul used to run the old Left Behind at the Fishbowl blog back in the day?

Pretty sure these pressers

Pretty sure these pressers are more educational and useful than most of the classes I took in college.

He comes across as a humble

He comes across as a humble and intelligent guy in this article.  Add that to frequently tossing Denard in the air and making hilarious comments about moustaches and shepherd costumes - great guy all around!

"Most teachers, most priests,

"Most teachers, most priests, most cub scout leaders, are good caring people who would have laid Sandusky out on a slab if they walked in on this."

It's also unbelievable that multiple university employees walked in on this and did nothing to immediately stop it.  In addition to McQueary leaving and only reporting the incident to Paterno, NYTimes is reporting that a janitor witnessed a separate shower incident and told no one but a co-worker due to fear of losing his job.

I know they upgraded the

I know they upgraded the dining facilities in MoJo a few years back - did they ever renovate the rest of the building?

I can see the appeal of a

I can see the appeal of a flashy new jersey for a special occasion game, to young athletes in particular, but I have to believe they do have some understanding and respect for well-known traditions.  Are they too young to have seen Rudy?  The gold helmets are a college football staple.
