There are 59 D1 teams. 16 get into the tournament. That's 27% so a comparable would be finishing ranked in the top 34 for football (27% of the total 128 football teams). There was one year in Carr's tenure that they didn't finished in the top 25. Michigan hockey has basically been playing the equivalent of Carr's worst year for the last 3 years.

Go into the wilderness? Michigan hockey has already been in the wilderness for 3 years.

That's true, but I felt pretty neutral about the Adidas apparel, so I guess just count me among the few un-hyped.
|1 week 1 day ago||This is pretty much the most||
This is pretty much the most lateral move possible. I'm expecting to be entirely underwhelmed by any changes that are made while the masses go bonkers because it's Nike.

Even what we consider good hockey markets have gone through terrible attendance when their teams are really bad. Chicago and Pittsburgh did. That being said, after years of futility Florida has some good young talent there and made a playoff push late last season. They seem to be on the upswing. If their attendance isn't up next season I'm not convinced they'll be able to hang around too much longer.
I know that the placement of these teams relies heavily on TV markets and that's why Quebec City isn't a shoe-in to get their team. It's not a new market. Everybody there already watches the NHL. I hope they get a team again though, because I have no doubt they'll be just like Winnipeg. Smaller market, but incredibly passionate fans.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||"Why not here, and why not||
"Why not here, and why not now?" The argument that literally every team in the country can use to say that this is their year. That's not a reason. That's a pep talk.
Half the teams on the schedule before Oct 17 had better years than us last year. I don't know what they're all returning/losing but I do know that we're not looking impressive with what we're bringing back. I'm not into the idea of convincing myself Michigan is going to undergo a 1-year miracle turnaround. If it happens, great, but why the hell would you be so delusional as to expect it?
|2 weeks 4 days ago||So, you're saying our top 2||
So, you're saying our top 2 receivers are 2 seniors who have combined for 848 career yards and our starting RB is a senior with 370 career yards. I can't even imagine why expectations are low, right?
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Our starting quarterback is||
Our starting quarterback is either a guy Iowa benched last year or somebody with little to no game experience. Nobody can say who our #1 running back is, nor our #1 wide receiver. What makes you think this will be a good team?
Edit: Damnit. Replied to the wrong comment.

Previous bracket champions:
Columbus Blue Jackets for Greatest Hockey Fanbase
Arkansas Razorbacks for Greatest College Sports Program
Charlotte, North Carolina for Greatest Pro Sports City
Thanks, bracket battles. We're all learning so much from this. I hope Ole Miss wins this just to emphasize the absurdity of it.

I just realized that I absolutely HATE what this means for what our hockey jerseys could become.
Nike has an affinity for dye-sublimated stripes that don't continue around the whole sleeve, fake lace collars, and weird squared-off collars. See: Minnesota, Michigan State, or the previous Olympic jerseys.

Google will own everything by then. If you ain't wearin' Google unis, you're soooo 2016.

I'm going to get super vocal at complaining about everything Nike, in the interest of both parity and parody.

As a hockey guy, this makes sense now.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||That doesn't really answer my||
That doesn't really answer my question. Is Jumpman an independent company now or just a clothing line by Nike? The reason I ask is because it seems unusual that people would make the distinction of saying "Nike for football and other sports. Jumpman for Bball" if that is in fact all Nike.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Can somebody explain to me||
Can somebody explain to me the dynamic of Jumpman vs Nike? Is Jumpman just the line of shoes or is it an underling company?
|3 weeks 1 day ago||I can't say that I'm too||
I can't say that I'm too familiar with comparing the qualities of J Crew and Banana Republic, but I'm sure it's a closer comparison than Banana Republic to Walmart. WE ARE NOT STARTING THIS ARGUMENT!
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Banana Republic and Walmart||
Banana Republic and Walmart is a bad comparison. It's more like getting excited about getting apparel from Banana Republic instead of J Crew. That is to say, it's a lateral move that only affects people who are interested in aligning themselves with a particular company's branding.

It amazes me how many people just blindly love anything Nike and dismiss anything that isn't. That company has done an exceptional job of getting people to align their personal image with Nike's brand image.

I like that everybody that posts something about apparel knows that it's a garbage post so they need to start out by trying to justify it.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||College football is ripe with||
College football is ripe with a "unique like everyone else" feel. There are so many new uniforms every year that they're totally forgettable. It's like the manufacturers have saturated the market to the point of making me not want to care anymore.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||If I were just trying to fit||
If I were just trying to fit in then I would be telling you how amazing these are, because they are Nike, but I'm not. They're grey/greyer/black mountain range silhouette helmets on a team who's school colors do not include grey. They're tacky, just like 95% of the other alternate uniforms teams will wear this season. The constant stream of new jerseys are a platform for advertising by the manufacturers so they want them to be gaudy so people will talk about them.

They also know how to create one of the worst college football helmets ever.
