I work for a decent sized community bank (1.5 billion in assets) and we are very lax on discipline in our email protocol and we would be fired immediately for this. Anyone else I know in the industry or any other corporate industry would be as well. 99% of the emails I get from people at another corporation are more professional than my own bank's and like I said, we would get fired for the above.
You can say that some people running corporations are a-holes but don't think that we're all just unprofessional morons who shoot of juvenile emails as part of our indoctrinated culture.

I don't agree. I don't think Dave Brandon would have gone for the TD unless it was a home game and then it would lengthen the game and therefore increase concession sales plus a longer game means more in-game advertising. But this was a road game so who know what DB would do.

Is Herman at OSU a legit possibility? I know there's no HC experience but they run an organized and efficient offense. He has Midwest ties and it seems like there are no glaring red flags about him. I know people might have someone else as their favorite but I'm just curious how serious of a contender he might be. Anyone else's thoughts?

The trend is the decrease in points every year. Even if they did score 12 it was less than the year before. So we did break the trend this year. Woot woot?!?!?

There's so much to all of this and I think it always gets ugly fast on a board. But I don't feel like people have attacked non-revenue sports. I think they point to the price gauging and say "we paid all that money and don't get a return" in reference to the product on the FB field and atmosphere at the game. I've seen a lot of people point at non-revenue facilities and salaries and say that they don't mind seeing UM spending money there but have a problem with it if the revenue generating product is crap....which it is. I'm always fascinated by how an AD runs itself like a business but is such a warped version of that. We all say how we're the customer but I feel like we're quasi-employees because we're more vested in this "company" than a customer would be. I look at it and think of this scenario:
If I bought an iPad and it was a piece of junk but saw Apple spending a bunch of money into products that don't make money or are obsolete I would be mad about the crappy iPad and laugh when they went out of business for investing money incorrectly. But if I worked at Apple and they made a crappy iPad, charged a bunch for it and then went and spent money in those losing areas I would be hurt, worried and mad, especially if I cared deeply for the company I work for. It would be a completely different set of emotions and I think it mirrors our emotions towards a university better than trying to think of ourselves as a customer.
Note: I'm not saying non-revenue sports are obsolete or bad investments, just using that as my comparison in the manufacturing realm.

I feel for you. Our dogsitter lost one of our dogs two months ago while we were on our honeymoon. We came back early, looked endlessly for the past two months with no luck. My wife is still struggling with it. I hear the "it's just a dog" thing from people but when you raise one from a pup and then one day he's just gone it's more than "just a dog". I've never had a dog that didn't love me but I've known a lot of people who don't.
I hope your daughter is doing okay with all of it.

My dad has had Univ of Montana tickets for 30 years and I grew up there so I know the Big Sky pretty well and 1AA well. The first thing to look at is not the coach but the program. Any UM fan could have told you Hauck wasn't going to have much success because he wasn't that great at UM. His record was but that program has been cranking out 10 win seasons for 20 years. Plus, the Big Sky was a 2-3 team league for much of his tenure. He just maintained an outstanding program during a down time for the conference. He was a Special Teams coach whose brother was a legend at the school so his name got him the job. Plus, they sucked on special teams when he was there.
Baldwin at EWU is interesting but I'm not sold. When he was at Central they had a nice run but in a garbage conference and mostly because they had a great QB who now starts for a CFL team. He runs a nice offense but his success at EWU has been built on having a dynamic QB with little defense. Plus, the Big Sky is pretty top heavy these days so it's not too hard to have success in that conference. They have the benefit also of getting a lot of Pac-12 drop-downs and non-qualifiers because their admissions are pretty lax. Paull Wulff also built that up before flaming out at Wazzu.
If you go the 1AA route you have to find someone who took a garbage program in a mostly talentless region and developed something sustaining. One player can change a program in 1AA so short-term success should be measured carefully becuase it could have just been because of one elite player. That's why Stitt is such an entriguing possibility.

I think the main reason behind that is because most fanbases are crazy about winning and recruiting. The UM base is crazy about all these other thing you hear like The Michigan Way, culture and tradition. Not that they're not important but other fans just want wins. That's why some candidates may not come here. They don't want to deal with those non-coaching related things.

The game was over before the first turnover happened. Plus those other things you mentioned are not just overnight fixes. They're real problems that the team may have all year.
I would suggest panicking and run around screaming.
|7 weeks 3 days ago||Elite?||
Your title suggests UM is elite. I would argue not being elite is the biggest difference between UM and the other elite programs.

|5 years 28 weeks ago||I didn't say football||
I didn't say football experience, though that argument could be made. In HS he probably played more games by being a 3-4 year starter and the HS all-star games. But, playing at Duke and being hated by every opposing fan gives one a form of experience that Sheridan has none of. So, really he has more experience in athletics and quite possibly in football.
|5 years 28 weeks ago||True, but there are a lot of||
True, but there are a lot of times when people argue against something even when cold-hard evidence is flying in their face. Also, I was more after the reason why he thinks Paulus won't play. The original comment offered nothing to discussion and that is just a waste of the internet.
|5 years 28 weeks ago||Talent is talent and I'm not||
Talent is talent and I'm not saying he's better than Forcier but I think he's on-par or better than Sheridan. I know what we're getting with Sheridan and though he may be improved, Paulus has more talent, more maturity and more experience whether it's basketball or football. Talent is talent and Sheridan has little compared to Paulus. Again, not saying he will be better but the potential is there with Paulus and I don't think it is with Sheridan.
|5 years 28 weeks ago||Sources?||
Did one of the coaches tell you that? I'm not saying you're wrong but the worst part about an opinion is when someone states it as a fact. Statements of fact about unknown outcomes is like trying to prove a point by yelling louder than anyone.
Brown, you are in no way the only person who does this but it happens so often it's ridiculous. But a lot of people give reasons for their opinion, so at least do that.

There are only 3 kinds of pregame speeches:
1. A firey "lets kick their ass" speech.
2. A more somber "lets do our job" speech. Usually for an obvious cupcake
3. Al Pacino's speech in Any Given Sunday

I'll have you assholes know that Montanan's will come out in droves to support CFB even if it's on this new-fangled "interweb" thing. I know of at least 5 Montanan's with the interwebs and I would bet dollars to donuts that they and all their friends voted for Mingo. Don't ever, ever sully the great state of Montana....ever.

Say what you want about Cowherd being a pompous, arrogant, self-righteous ass...because he is. But he often times right when he talks about sports and how it relates to most people. Hate him or love him he tends to be spot on. He could be Jim Rome and nobody wants to be Rome.
|5 years 32 weeks ago||You're right. Making||
You're right. Making character assumptions about someone, based on the first thing you hear or infer about them is HARD. If it was easy then everyone would be on the internet casting judgement on 18 yr olds based on when and how they announce their commitment. But instead there's a select few who do that for us, like Tater.
