offense vs defense over the years ....

I added more data to the above. For people wondering about the state of the offense over the year. It seems but for a few years, offense seems to be doing fine.

Actually Tressel's record by year

1986 : 2-9

1988 : 8-4

1989 : 4–7

1990 :9-4

1991 : 11-1

1992:12:3

1993:11:3:1

1994:14:0:1

1995:3-8

1996:8-3

1997:13-2

1998:6-5

1999:12-3

2000:9-3

There are probably two ways to look at it.One, seesaw... had his share of losing seasons.two : consistency esp in later years. As someone who deals a lot with number. I would have probably said, he would have been sucessful but the vest has done much better than expected.

2. Bo Pelini

3.4. Any of the petersens

5. Gruden

Distant 6. Hoke

I have nothing against Hoke but then the rotinue of 9 win season cannot be the reson why we fired RR...

Amen

summed up perfectly

so easy for us to see,yet so difficult to coach

at the end of all this, I really feel sad for D-Rob and the offense. D-Rob does have heisman numbers yet no love from the media all because our track record. I feel irritated at the defense... I know the players are trying hard but when you make the same mistakes game after game (both coaching, where we run the predictable man coverage and players for some stupid decisions  in some cases) it sort of makes even the sane fans angry. I still like RR and I think he should continue next year. The major fault I find in him is a few clock management issues, but yet as a head coach I think he should get more involved with the defense.

Bud Foster

Easy to lure ? Hokies has fielded great defenses. Would really add to his resume for becoming a head coach. He has won the Frank Broyles award. Cannot go wrong if he accepts

Vance Bedford Anyone ?

Michigan ties ... good experience ... not sure if RR kind of person. 1997 secondary coach.

follow our strength

I agree it seems moronic to suggest our strength in defense but then there are few bright spots which are not being exploited. Case in point : Craig Roh, should be used as a defensive end. It was a mistake to move him around.

I agree he was moved to shore up the secondary but then the experiment is not working. This has been discussed before by Brian and others. I guess the problem with the defense is not adapting quickly, Kenny Demens (dont know how this UFR looks) is a case in point. While I dont want RR to be chucked out this season, I really think the quickness of change in defense is missing.  That is my beef. We need to identify the strength and move with it.

works in safari I installed silverlight and used safari ...it seemed to work ...
