|6 weeks 1 day ago||soft padding||
I don't understand why they don't make soft padding on the outside of helmets? If there are too many concussions, make it thicker. The crack of helmets hitting would be gone, but I imagine that it would be much safer.

Barnes is not a good coach. He can recruit but is a terrible coach. See his NCAA tourney record, for example. There was an article on FiveThirtyEight.com just today talking about what a great tourney coach Izzo is (our beloved coach Beilein is top 10). Rick Barnes was dead last at number 511.

I heard the same thing. Durkin for linebackers is what he said.
|22 weeks 2 days ago||not sure about that||
Ansah went low on Clausen and was diving to tackle him and when Ansah started diving Clausen was not sliding. Because Jimmy slid, his helmet went low enough for Ansah's helmet to hit him. If he stays up, he just get hit in the leg. Because he was hit in the head though, it should be a penalty (which it was), but I'm not sure if it should be more than that.

there was a play where ball was thrown to funchess on second down from about the ten. msu db obviously grabbed his hand before ball gets there forcing funchess to drop the ball.

We outgained Penn State 246 to 214 and were even on turnover margin. Turnover margin HUGE in predicting outcome of games.
|32 weeks 4 days ago||the ref||
Since the ref that called it was standing ten feet from the guilty party and on the line of scrimmage, I'm going to go with not controversial at all. The guy that was offsides recovered the ball since he got such a 'head' start. I'll forgive the refs for bs challenge reviews because of good offsides call. Hooray for a win!

|34 weeks 2 days ago||Injury rule||
If you are injured such that you cannot play, you stay down. As a player, this is universally known. Morris hopped right back up after getting hit big. This may have played into the lack of call from the ref and the confusion and slow decision making on the sidelines. That said, when Nussmeier saw him limping, he should have TOLD him to come off the field and not ASKED him.
|34 weeks 2 days ago||Morris' inexperience||
If Morris would have stayed down after the play, it would have given the refs more time to think about the correct call (ejection?) for the other player as well as give time for medical staff to assess him on the field. It is another piece of evidence that says Hoke's first bad decision was to even start Morris.
|34 weeks 2 days ago||what I don't understand at all||
I don't understand why Morris didn't just lay on the ground and wait for medical staff. It is a universally understood thing in sports at any age level that if you are hurt and stay down, play will be stopped and you will get medical attention. Instead of limping around and waving at the sidelines, just sitting on the ground would have worked. The situation with Morris resulted from a lot of things, not just Hoke's mishandling of the situation.

A weekend of beer and football. September is the best!
|37 weeks 1 day ago||awesome||
The last camera angle was the best where it shows just how far he had to go. Also like Geno Smith looking dumbfounded that that just happened.
|37 weeks 1 day ago||I agree||
He had no reason to hit her. It just looked like she was hitting him as well. Neither of them should be using violence. I agree that the dude committed a crime and deserves to be punished as he knocked her out completely.
|37 weeks 1 day ago||true||
Yes, I would prefer that nothing on this blog be a complete surprise to them but perhaps some of the in depth anaylsis goes beyond what they themselves have time to do.

Although I hope Hoke and Nuss read this blog. If tempo is truly an issue, perhaps MgoBlog can help them realize it.
|37 weeks 2 days ago||Hopefully neither of them get anything||
Both of them were very physically violent with each other. It's not like he hit her out of the blue. She clearly had no problem hitting him before he retaliated. Yes, it is disproportionate force that he used, but she is no saint and shouldn't be rewarded for her behavior.

Messi is great to watch, but I can't stand how Argentina plays overall. First significant 'foul' of the day should be a yellow card on Perez for diving. Unfortunately more to come from Argentina in that regard. Fingers crossed Netherlands 2-1

If he finishes the season at .500, I am a happy Detroit Lions fans. Am I the only one who thinks that Schwartz has done really well there? Dare I say the Lions are fun to watch? They seem like they should win every game. He should not be fired at all. 0-16 is all I can say. How many coaches did they try before they got Schwartz? Yes, the Lions underperform--but that is what makes them so fun to watch. You never know when they are just going to go off and crush the Green Bay Packers or lose horribly to the Eagles. The fact that they are actually capable of winning under Schwartz, regardless of whether or not they actually are, is an improvement.

OSU or msu wins in a slugfest. Auburn gets crushed by mizzou and the sec loses all of their bowl games. Big ten wins all of theirs. As much as I dislike osu, im so sick of hearing how good auburn is. They won on two miracle plays.
|1 year 24 weeks ago||Yes||
The sec generally has 3-5 decent teams. This is about what most conferences have. Then they have average teams and bad teams. Very normal. Nothing to see there. Media needs to stop overhyping them.
|1 year 25 weeks ago||terrible precedent||
Such an action would set a terrible precedent. If that is the case, then the Big Ten, Big 12, Pac 12, etc have no chance because there will always be plenty of 1 loss SEC teams out there. SEC is not that great. Mizzou powered through their conference in only their 2nd year in there. It's not like Mizzou was anything special in the Big 12 and 2 years removed is not much. A one loss Auburn team should not under any circumstances jump an undefeated team from a power conference.

Seems like he doesn't understand video cameras. What if the Big Ten watches replay and suspends? That'll make for a good Big Ten championship...
|1 year 25 weeks ago||if msu wins next week...||
Why not MSU? A one-loss team, whose only loss was to a ranked team (ND 25 at the time) with arguably the best defense in the country. Seems like that would be a better choice than Missouri or Bama.
