wish I could upvote it.
what other sports blog has regular in depth discussions of quantum physics embedded in threads?
the dumbest thing on this site all year is people hassling Brian at the bowling alley telling him how many MGoPoints they had. Its not like you won a Nobel prize. Brian giveth, Brian can taketh away.
Any who do not like it, are free to start their own. Or, hang around and make this site better.
If it were my site, I would ban F bombs. But that is just me. So I don't use them.
But it ain't my site.
Part of what makes this the best is, it covers the best University, from which so many of us gained so much.

I am having the same wicked Al Borges thoughts about Ohio game plan, only, none of the reasons he proffers apply to me.
Maybe just flashbacks?
No, I have broken through the time barrier.
We beat Ohio and the players carry Hoke around the field on their shouldgers.

I have not figured out how to get the pix to post from the imgur site, any help appreciated.
the parking sticker was a paid for season football pass, not an everyday handicapped parking sign.

|8 weeks 6 days ago||booing NOT||
negative emotions are a stronger motivation to post and call sports talk radio.
I am a Michigan fan, I root for Michigan, be the coaches right or wrong.
I gave up booing, anyone, due to the following,
It had just come out that Ron Leflore had lied about his age when the Tigers signed him, basically out of prison.
Inebriated in the centerfield bleachers, I regaled him with such witticisms as:
Are the walls higher here, or at Jackson?
How old are you? 35? You field like you're 45!!!
He could definitely hear me, as, could, apparently, Joe Falls, who wrote his column the next morning about the "Faceless Idiots" in the stands.
Turns out Billy Martin had told him just before game time that his brother had been shot and killed, and he did not have to play that day if he wanted to sit out.
On topic, I hope this blog does not turn into a venting outlet for the disturbed.
|9 weeks 1 day ago||Bo||
was 5-4-1 against Woody in the Ten Year War.
Bo had a losing record in non-conference road games.
Bo was the first to say the schedule was tougher after he retired as head coach.
Clearly, Bo was left with by Bump better players than Brady was by RR.
They are kids. It is a game.
This was the most painful game to watch that I remember, continually rejecting the proffers of victory offered by our opponent.
By the demographics on this thread, I am ancient as I attended the 1969 game as a 14 year old.
We could win out, we could lose out, most likey, somewhere in the middle.
Borges did not coach Gardner to throw the ball to the other team.
Too conservative in the OT, yes.
Should anyone be fired? No.

He took his show on the road to some college campuses during the RR era, in August, I think, and was very impressed by how the students brought it. The passion surprised him.

I read years ago that the time came when Harmon wanted to donate his actual Heisman trophy to the U, and whoever he contacted turned him down.

The University did not pay $400K to Carr to do almost nothing. That money was in his coaching contract, to be paid after he stopped coaching. The university got great value for whatever he was paid.

my freshman high school football team was 0-6, but we made up for that by going 0-9 as seniors.
profound hatred for Woody Hayes arose listening to the 68 game, we were only down 21-14 at the half., game not televised.

worked my way through school, and law school, largely by hustling tickets

Should be "mettle".
I heard the turtle story with Ditka, only he bit the alligator snapping turtle's head off, and Refrgerator Perry was the volunteer.
Nice topic though, with guaranteed new entries every year.

In the late 70s early 80s, baseball was good and we hosted some regionals. The legendary Mooris Moorawnick was the scorekeeper. As he did not have a driver's license, I was one of the people who gave him rides to the games. Two 7 inning doubleheaders Saturday, two more Sunday in Big Ten play. He was paid $5 per game.
They needed extra help for the tournaments, so Bruce gave me the lowest job in the history of UM sports information: Moorawnick's assistant. I got a parking pass and press pass into the game. My duties included circulating handouts to the out of town media, gettting the coaches quotes after the game and typeing(yes, typing) them up to hand out.
Bruce's complete lack of BS is unusual in anyone, and unprecedented in a PR guy.
Great storyteller, hope he writes a book.
HIs tenure started when Bo gave a weekly luncheon talk on Monday, and that was it.
The dinosaur media would have to write a story each day with one or two quotes from that lunch.
All the way to the instant tech multi- media of today. Yet never was he behind the times, never bemoaning the good old days.
I do not think his position will be filled; Ablauf has handled football the last few years.
As a person, and a presence, he is quite irreplaceable.

When he played baseball on the road, Big Ten opponent crowds would chant "Rose Bowl, Rose Bowl, Rose Bowl" alternating with the same cadence an "Orange Bowl" chant.
No Michigan man in my lifetime took more abuse.
He beat Woody 3 years in a row, after nearly winning as a freshman.
He finished a spring football game, went to Ray L., changed uniforms, and knocked in the winning run against Minnesota.
The baseball team used to stay in the SAE house after the school year ended, as baseball season continued another 2 to 4 weeks. I was an SAE at the time, and never found him to be a tool.
Everyone has bad moments. He is the best UM athlete I have seen.

We lost the first 3 to Penn state, which had a bye week before their game with us, for the first four years of the series.
We won the 1,000th game in Penn state history, at Happy Valley. Highlight was stopping them 4 straight on first and goal.
Somewhere in there, he said: This is Michigan, and you'd better tend to your knitting."
