I was told by former player that Lloyd Carr told him the search committee gave her three names, and DB was NOT one of them.
She deserves more than a raspberry.
|1 week 43 min ago||first name:||
last name: OK
football team lost one home game, the last, my four years at UM, but no Rose Bowls
high school: G. P. South Blue Devils
sports played: pathetic
I could not make a no-cut Babe Ruth baseball league.
Played IM basketball in 7th grade, was called for double dribbling before attempting a free throw
in high school, football. proved freshman year 0 and 6 record was no fluke by going 0-9 senior year.
actually, worse than that, 1-8 because a team that beat us 28-14 had to forfeit for playing a 20 year old. And I did not even start.
Did play on a championship IM hockey team post-graduate as a "significant other"

Against those red Ohio uniforms, he looked like a Yugo driving through the redwood forest.

God bless the student section.
After Harbaugh appeared on the scoreboard, they did a "Harbaugh! Sieve!" cheer.
After Denard was shown, they did a "Shoelace! Sieve!" cheer.

off the top of my old head, when the NCAA was 16 teams, obviously, the NIT had better teams than now.
Al McGuire did not like the region they put Marquette into one year, and declined the NCAA bid to go to the NIT. I think they won it; all the games were in Madison Square Garden, so the invited field tilted toward NY.
After that, the NCAA required that teams accepte bids.
The regionals were not even on network TV, I remember watching Artis Gilmore (Jacksonville State?) tournament games on a UHF station.
We should have had a bid in 84, I think Frieder called someone on the committee to lobby, or whatever, and that was held against him.
They had earlier changed it so the tournament was played at the same time as the NIT, so a school could not accept bids to both.

None of the worst Brandon stories I know are even in this post.
I would not characterize this as a re-hash, this is the hashing out, the summary, the bill of particulars.
Yes, he has already been convicted/fired, and, this post records for posterity the reasons why.
This is not a science blog. It does not consist of posts with results of experiments and theses disproved and so on.
It is a sports blog, written by and for people irrationally, emotionally connected to a University and its sports teams.
Brian writes clearly and articulately.
His meaning is clear.
His emotions mimic my own, and, I am confident, of most of the readership.
Brandon is not emotionally connected to UM the way that we are, and Brian's emotional explosion concluding the piece perfectly expresses the emotions Brandon aroused in me.
The "it hurts my family" statement turned my stomach.
This statement was brought up by a former player in a conversation with me, in which i agreed with him that Brandon's performance in office hurt our families.
My favorite sentence in the post:
"There is nothing to learn when you are perfect."
I hope Brandon acquires humility and the vital ability to not take himself seriously.
But I would not hire him to clean the dog poop out of my yard.

"The best possible progression is Bo: a big upset to announce his presence, a big year out of the elderly 2016 roster, then a few flawed but progressing outfits . . ."
Bo lost 2 regular season games in 1969, the year of the big upset, one loss in 70, none in 71 or 73, Ohio only in 72 and 74, before the two ties and Ohio loss in 75, followed by 3 consecutive Big Ten titles, each with 1 regular season loss.
I will take that.
with a better bowl record. :)

Wondering what in the hell 0 Dark Thirty and Selma have to do with American Sniper, I clicked on your links.
I read the New Republic as far down as the guy admitting he had not seen the movie yet.
and I read your second link until this:
“He seems like he may be a sociopath,” one Academy member told TheWrap, adding he had not yet seen the film but had read the article, which is being passed around.
Judging without seeing.
Isn't that called prejudice?
gimme a break
What really pisses off "Hollywood" is that people are flocking to this flick.

Mcreary, Mcreary's father, Paterno, the AD, was that it?
they were the people in charge, with the duty to protect those in their care.
It is a big deal, complicity with inexcusable evil.
Whether forfeiting wins is appropriate is another issue, but the abuse should be roundly and continuously condemned whenever discussed, and never brushed off.

Do you think the head coach will take it easy on his youngest assistant? give him special treatement?
or be extra hard on him, which will have an effect on the team.
I think the latter.

How blessed I am.
I was at the Woodson pick game, obtained a ticket in the UM endzone corner just before kickoff.
My seat aligned with the sideline where he made the pick, so I had a perfect view.
I was lucky enough to be at the 2006 ND rout.
and the Desmond and Charles Ohio games
and the 1969 Ohio game
and so many more.
Each to be savored as it occurs, for what it is. Sometimes, near miraculous, like Spike's first half in Atlanta, which I was also blessed to see in person.
No one goes through life undefeated; no one gets out alive.
Our attitude determines how much we enjoy the ride, and I am having a helluva time, and looking forward to the next great Michigan moment.

was supposed to produce BOTH teams in the national title game.

Penn State 31 - 30 over BC

I believe Mattison said he only went back to a college job because of Brady.
Of course, he might have, or will, change his mind.
On the Rooney rule, this can be satisfied by a telephone interview.
There was a coach paid $75,000 for a phone interview so that a team could comply with the rule.
So that is not an impediment.
The fact that Harbaugh is coming home, is an impediment.
